Just to clarify I am thinking of getting a set of component cables for the PS3, but it has 2 red cables, 1 blue, 1 green and 1 white will this still work or do I need the 2 red, 2 blue and 1 green set you have?

@TeeCaTisBack As you can see this video was done over year ago and was only done to help other people having trouble getting it set up for basic broadcasting or capturing, since I had trouble myself installing but couldn't find any help. Now some people were able to set this up fine with the video I made, now this video is little outdated so it won't always work since of different hardware/software (different OS or version of BMIP). This isn't a tech advice channel.. sorry...
Trouble : i get no remote message...i connected via hdmi in/out to my hdmi where i changed to 720p and screen recognizing (or how is it called) in the dashboard....WHAT CAN I DO NOW? IM DESPERATED!
I follow everything but get screwed at the Control Panel drop box part. I don't have the HDMI & Y, R/Y, etc.. option. I only have HDMI & Component and HDMI & Composite (Y OUT) & S-Video. If it helps, when I open this in control panel the window is titled Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 8.5
So how do I get my 360 streaming? I have the capture card in and I'm already using HDMI from my 360 to TV. My Xbox Slim (even though I think it's the same for all) only has 1 HDMI slot.
@xN1TSUG4 you have to install to a pci port, sorry dude, macs are crap with all forms of gaming, even recording them, roxio, avermedia, black magic, all dont work with mac, wait, why would you have a mac for making movies? did the adds sucker you in? fail, mac fails lololol
@gelosaosin actually its like 20 pounds or 30 dollars more on amazon during price cuts when their arent its like 50 more, and believe me, setting up codecs to make it work with a non supported editor like wmm can be a bitch if you dont know what your doin, no editing software, more expensive, needs codecs, takes up space, unless your lazy like me (which has never served me well) you might as well get this.
@xXJEWPS3Xx it plugs into a PCI express slot in your desktop.... its hardware that you add to you computer, its not a stand alone device like an HDPVR, DAzzle etc
How do I change the settings using Blackmagic Design Desktop video 8.0.1 on Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate? The only options I have for output are HDMI & Component and HDMI & Composite (Y-Out) & S-Video and for input I have HDMI Video & HDMI Audio, HDMI Video & Analog RCA Audio, Component Audio & Analog RCA Audio, Composite Video (Y-In) & Analog RCA Audio, and S-Video & Analog RCA Audio.
i want to use this for recording tv aswell as my ps3. i have a yamaha thing that sorts out what im watching on the tv. can I just use that, and output to hdmi? so only use the hdmi ports on the capture card?
I want to use blackmagic intensity shuttle for my gameplay because it's range of 1080p quality but i have no idea how the fuck i set the wires up and im wondering if a macintosh desktop would work with it and also what is a usb 3.0?
Ok so, you have to use component cables w/ the ps3, but supposedly not the xbox360, so which means that the quality with the BMIP and HDPVR are the same on ps3 but on XBOX, the BIMP is better, and this does not work with Mac either, so therefore, all the more reason to go w/ hd pvr, cuz now it wouldn't even work for my Mac, forget BMIP, even though the quality is better(on xbox)
i have the same exact settings and do the same thing you do but I get no screen. My TV seems to recognize it cause it goes full on black then I do not click Capture, but when I click it before I even record it just shows "Weak or No Signal".
Is it possible to use a component cable from the PS3 to the BlackMagic intensity pro and then use an HDMI cable from the BlackMagic intensity pro to my TV?
ok so i have a tv-monitor pc at right and ps3 at left..ps3 use hdmi to tv and pc vga to tv...so say that i buy blackmagic cab i put and hdmi splitter behind the ps3 and 1 hdmi go to tv and the other to blackmagic or a splitter to blackmagic and 1 goes to ps3 and other to tv?
@Brenderous No, because Sony wanted to stop people 'recording' Blu Ray Discs so the HDMI output is in what's called Protected Mode. XBox 360 does not suffer this problem
You can bypass HDCP (which everyone who can afford a second monitor and splitters does). You will however need to "acquire" some third party software.
Intensity Pro drivers ONLY support 720p/59.94 and 1080i/59.94 for HD settings. If you choose any other framerate or setting for your card for HD, it will not display.
There is also a way to create a grandfather filter using GraphEdit found in DirectX toolkit.
@nailszz6 Also note that you pretty much have to set your PS3 at 720p /59.94 if you're going to broadcast, if you choose 1080i the XMB screen will work at that resolution, but as soon as you launch into a game, the screen will change resolutions and your screen will go black. So just keep it at 720.
When you go to the black magic control panel, my set output only has "HDMI & Component" and "HDMI & Composite (Y Out) & S-video". As for set input, it only reads the following:
-HDMI Video & HDMI Audio
-HDMI Video & Analog RCA Audio
-Component Video & Analog RCA Audio
-Composite Video (Y In) & Analog RCA Audio
-S-Video & Analog RCA Audio
I don't know why i don't have any of the options that you have. I have everything hooked up right. However i am using my computer monitor as i have no TV.
@DremPS3 you can use component cables for the output also, don't know if you can see in the video when I'm showing the cables but there should be enough connections for a 2nd output for component.
FCK THIS SHTTTTTTTTTTT , Going to get a HD PVR -Lol I ain't got time for desktops or playing around in the dark with so many cables haha, lol no offense man nice video but doesn't look like something someone with little time would have to go through for a minimal difference from the HD PVR. Good job though and goodluck to all who buy this (Trust me you'll need it ).
I have a question... do i need a TV screen to record with this? Cause i use a Philips computer monitor. I can play in 1080p and it has a DVI and a WGA connection to it. And also i have a HDMI to DVI cable i use to play. So can i record using Black Magic Intensity Pro
when i record can i have the image output with hdmi and audio output with the white and red composite cable to use it with a home cinema or something?
Hi I play on a PS3 with a 23 inch monitor and the only ports i have on it are VGA HDMi and DVI will it work with my setup and does it come with all the cables you need?
I think the reason he says you cant us hdmi cable only with PS3 because the intensity pro will not input sound with the hdmi cable? but, if you use seperate audio cables, and plug into your line in on audio card , otherwise many other people have had no problems using hdmi cables for ps3 hookup
I play my shooters with Turtle Beach P21's and they require the AV / Composite slot on the ps3. i havent seen the full part 1 and 2 video yet, so i wanna know before i buy the BMIP, can I record while using composite for my headset?
Alright I've asked you this before. I'm using HDMI 1080p Xbox 360 cord. Can I use that with this capture card? I've been looking at the Intensity Shuttle and it has a HDMI 1080p I/O. But the problem is the USB 3.0, and x58 based computer. If you don't have that you have to buy stuff. I priced all this with a computer expert at my house and you would basically replace everything in your computer for shuttle to work good.
@FallinProductions I haven't heard no problems using HDMI cable with a Xbox360 on this capture card. That is why this video is for ps3 users since it can not use HDMI by itself.
@shadowgamer31 If you are using the same capture that I'm talking about in the video, the capture card has to have hdmi ports. Read more info on setting up or how your capture card works if you getting something confused on setting it up.
@SPQRtheFEAR should of read the info of the video on the right which I say in big letters that no you can't just use HDMI alone. This video explains on how and "only" way to make it work with a ps3. You have to use a component cable for the input to make it work.
@alex21186 damn...that sucks...i have an hd pvr now and i was going to move to this because i hate the component cables across my room but i guess this is the same....thanks.....i would have probably bought it and been pissed
I just have one question: If I don't have Media Express in focus, like if I use Firefox at the same time, it doesn't show up on my TV anymore. So I can't use the computer while playing?
I got the Intensity Pro yesterday, right now I'm waiting for the component cables. The mail will be here soon and I'm pretty sure they'll come today. Can't wait. ^^
Hopefully I've plugged the Intensity in correctly, the drivers installed without problems so hopefully it works.
Can you please tell me your computer stats, I have a dual core pc with 2gb of ram that I build in college proccessing speed at 2.67 ghz per core, should this be ok to record in HD?
Nm I researched it and you cannot. I meant to use HDMI to view the input source as opposed to recording it. Sucks. Defeats the whole purpose I was getting it for lol.
I am about to drop a few grand on a high end computer (i7 Extreme, 8GB DDR3, 4TB HD, 2 250 GTX graphic cards and so forth).
I am thinking of getting this card due to HDMI... But now I see, for PS3 you're using component cords. On your TV, which is better quality... HDMI straight from PS3 to TV or how you have your cap card set up ? Or is it the same...
sorry I didn't fully understand that question but if you are asking if there is a way to use just hdmi, then like the other questions below me... nope.
hey dude.. so I think you finally answered my question that I've asked on like 5 videos. I wanted to record my PS3 gameplay in HD using HDMI cables but that's NOT POSSIBLE because of the HDCP bullshit right? So we are forced to use the component cables to record?
So what is the connection tree?
PS3 > breakout cable on capture card > HDMI OUTPUT on capture card > HDTV HDMI INPUT??
we can't use hdmi to ps3 ?

Massive Key Tip in this setup process!

@alex21186 whats your pc specs
MrGiggdygiggdygoo 1 year ago
@KllassIIK Most newer TV's dont have any HDCP Problems but if you use component it bypasses HDCP becuase its a completely different signal.
Look at hdfury(dot)com/ that bypasses HDCP for older monitors and TV's.

FallinProductions 1 year ago
@FallinProductions I haven't heard no problems using HDMI cable with a Xbox360 on this capture card. That is why this video is for ps3 users since it can not use HDMI by itself.
alex21186 1 year ago
@alex21186, Alright and does this lag at all or freeze or anything? And what program do you use to capture?
FallinProductions 1 year ago
@FallinProductions HD pvr vs this wich is better

can you use a laptop
BestOfCallOfDutyMw2 1 year ago
@BestOfCallOfDutyMw2 Not unless you have a laptop with a free PCI express slot, but since most laptop's don't, I'd say no.

instead of hdmi I have VGA, can i use blackmagic and still record in hd and stuff? thanks
codfreak1994 1 year ago
@codfreak1994 I haven't tried with vga, thats something you have to experiment yourself
alex21186 1 year ago
my computer doesn't have a HDMI port, would it still be possible if i used a HDMI-to-USB cable?
shadowgamer31 1 year ago
@shadowgamer31 If you are using the same capture that I'm talking about in the video, the capture card has to have hdmi ports. Read more info on setting up or how your capture card works if you getting something confused on setting it up.
alex21186 1 year ago
If you get HDMI splitters (if there is)
Would it work?
ThaMonkeyEater 1 year ago
@ThaMonkeyEater don't think so
alex21186 1 year ago
sorry if this is might be a FAQ but can you input and output with two seperate hdmi cables or does a component have to be always present?
SPQRtheFEAR 1 year ago
@SPQRtheFEAR should of read the info of the video on the right which I say in big letters that no you can't just use HDMI alone. This video explains on how and "only" way to make it work with a ps3. You have to use a component cable for the input to make it work.
alex21186 1 year ago
@alex21186 damn...that sucks...i have an hd pvr now and i was going to move to this because i hate the component cables across my room but i guess this is the same....thanks.....i would have probably bought it and been pissed
SPQRtheFEAR 1 year ago
ya thats how i felt XD and when i installed the dawm thing, turns out it didnt work
Wanted4nothing 1 year ago
YES I got it working!!
Thank you so much man!
I just have one question: If I don't have Media Express in focus, like if I use Firefox at the same time, it doesn't show up on my TV anymore. So I can't use the computer while playing?
Shadowfied 1 year ago
@Shadowfied what exactly do you mean? also are you using this for recording or live streaming?
alex21186 1 year ago
@alex21186
Nevermind, It's fine like this. ^^
Again thank you so much for the videos.

Thanks for the videos.
I got the Intensity Pro yesterday, right now I'm waiting for the component cables. The mail will be here soon and I'm pretty sure they'll come today. Can't wait. ^^
Hopefully I've plugged the Intensity in correctly, the drivers installed without problems so hopefully it works.
Will update later if it works or not. ^^ :)

Can you please tell me your computer stats, I have a dual core pc with 2gb of ram that I build in college proccessing speed at 2.67 ghz per core, should this be ok to record in HD?
Please get back to me I'm worried lol.
Steeveness 1 year ago
Can you use HDMI to play your games without recording or streaming? Or does it not work @ all.
xSurkinLoverx 1 year ago
@xSurkinLoverx what do you mean? like switching to hdmi when you are not recording?
alex21186 1 year ago
Nm I researched it and you cannot. I meant to use HDMI to view the input source as opposed to recording it. Sucks. Defeats the whole purpose I was getting it for lol.

does this work for laptops?

Do you HAVE to use the RED GREEN and BLUE compoonent cables? for ps3? and not the HDMI?
Fudala510 2 years ago
btw, can you record using Fraps instead of that software Intensity Pro comes with?
Ooga001 2 years ago
it works with some programs I used but I haven't tested on fraps before, you going have to experiment on that part.

Just checking,
I am about to drop a few grand on a high end computer (i7 Extreme, 8GB DDR3, 4TB HD, 2 250 GTX graphic cards and so forth).
I am thinking of getting this card due to HDMI... But now I see, for PS3 you're using component cords. On your TV, which is better quality... HDMI straight from PS3 to TV or how you have your cap card set up ? Or is it the same...
I really like my HDMI quality on TV lol
iBeReFLeXeS 2 years ago
sorry I didn't fully understand that question but if you are asking if there is a way to use just hdmi, then like the other questions below me... nope.
alex21186 2 years ago
hey dude.. so I think you finally answered my question that I've asked on like 5 videos.
