Interviewer: So Ville, if you had a 1 month vacation and you couldn't work at all, what would you do?
VIlle: well, i would wahtc Spongebob and compose a new album.
Interviewer: so you wold be still working?
Ville: no i dont think it's working. I think that making of music is so much fun so making it is like a vacation for me. Maybe not the performing part or recording but the creativity process is damn fun. It takes my mind off my phone bills.
Interviewer: when you started to work on dark light what was your goal?
Ville: We wanted to bring Timo K. and Elvis presley in the same picture. We wanted to bring some finnish darkness, the frankenstein monster, andy McCoys teeth the old ones, Tiina Vuorinen in the middle and stuff like that..
Interviewer: well if you thing about greatest love songs and dark light what's different and whats same?
Ville: love metal is more 70's. And i remeber when we were making it i had a fever non stop for 2
months. In this new album we have like black sabbaths influence. There's big guitar riffs and everything's so big.. i don't know we always do the same shit.. we're like AC/DC.
Interviewer: where did the name dark light came from?
Ville: i just wanted to test how many finnish magazines would use the term pimeä valo (dark light in finnish) I just like messing with media. First the ablums name was supposed to be in the nightside of eden but then again i wanted the name to be simple and short.
HIM-Dark Light it describes us so well. It sound good.
Interviewer: okay so the mixer andy wallace was changed and the reason was that you wanted more scandinavian sound..
Ville: andy wallace has made so many cds that i love but he took our material and he wiped out the melancholy. I don't know how.. it sounded so good like radio friendly american rock and HIM is not like that. We want to war against it. I have nothing against andy he's damn good pro and stuff..
Interviewer: so what is your message from dark light to the listeners?
Ville: This is like a political album.. more hearts policy.. there's always happening all the weird things in the world but everyone decodes it from their own heart and mind.
Interviewer: was it harder to make the lyrics than before?
Ville: It's always hard when you're not from a family where the language is english.. it's always a challenge.. but it's a fun challenge. It's always nice to make shitty gothic stuff! :)
Ville looks the healthiest before Jonna and after Jonna and especially after quitting drinking :) I can't wait to see him now, in 2012!!!
