His voice is beautiful, great mix of registers; something very difficult to achieve but so perfect for Mozart. It makes any lack of legato seem meaningless. Great artistry!
@w8lz: One might argue that what constitutes legato singing in Classical Opera is something rather different than the much more fluid legato that developed in later bel canto opera.
Still I agree that this is not his best performance of this aria.
EXCELLENT. I love it how he is one of the few tenors who actually sings Dolcissimo on the high A of "Un dolce ristoro". So many tenors BLAST through that particular moment just to show off their high As, destroying the line.
Not only could I listen to him sing all day long - I could listen to him sing THIS all day long. I do, however, think the other clip of him singing this in Paris in '96 is conducted better. This is a bit rushed.
incredible Voice

@goto41 I heard him as Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) last year in Vienna (Theater an der Wien). Brilliant voice and excellent performance

Here again a nice performance by Rainer Trost, a very good Ferrando.

He often doesn't sing legato... "un au-h-ura amoro-h-osa... teso-h-oro..." I don't like that... Sorry.

Bad habits persist "oona dolce'' "oona" this, "oona"that. Sloppy, messy, lazy. And glottal as a circus seal. Probably great in bed though ;-)

This aria was better sung 'and more relased) at Paris the year before.
LOL for the last remark. He's getting on a bit in age now, though...43!

It takes some doing singing lying down. A nice voice though and a good aria by Mozart.

Was at this performance at Covent Garden.
A wonderful experience and a great cast.
