@Nickelberrynsc The Muppet show was never aimed at kids, kids only be cape a post Muppet show focus hence the very raunchy humor and innuendo. the whole concept was to create a show with puppets that could appeal to adults. Sesame Street was the Muppet kids show.

It was the first season, so they were pretty much trying to figure out what to do with their puppets...but all the other pigs have fingers, so the hooves didn't work, apparently.

Lidia is just a one-off character who just dances, she doesn't need fingers. For the other pigs who are recurring characters, like Miss Piggy and the Pigs in Space crew, need fingers to help them act. It's pragmatic. It's the same reason a primary character like Sam the Eagle has fingers, and tertiary characters like Gonzo's chickens do not.
