  • I LOVED THIS BAND LINE UP... AXE :(

  • I love it how he whispers to the crowd of the song: "Demon..of the Fall." and then the music starts. :P

  • ...demon- of the fall....... *explosion of metal*

  • opeth rules

  • My god this song is sexy.

  • Why is Lil Wayne in the suggestions? :O

  • 8:44 oh my god look at that smile

  • i dont like metal, its very depressive,,,i like rather dnb, electro, progressive house,,,but this song is,......theres no words for this

  • 4:56 that freakin' crunchy sound makes me horny ;$

  • @heyborola basic hammond sound on low range`?

  • They should have a live version played in complete darkness. Dark dark pitch fukkin dark...

  • That riff starting at 0:50 is the definition of epic

  • I wish I could've seen them then, but seeing them now with mastodon and ghost ain't too bad either.

  • I Love the ''THANK YOU FOR BEING SO GREAT!!!!!!!'' around 8:30-9:00 :D

  • I meant 7:30 - 8:00

  • Remember when Opeth was this awesome? I don't, because my first time seeing them live was for the Heritage Tour. T_T

  • @skytigress I don't know who you were watching, but when I saw their Heritage show, it was still pretty fucking cool.

  • While I love the album version, this song sounds SO much better live.

  • OPETH are some technical tactions thats all i can say. Lovet the marathon songs 2.

  • This song makes me feel every emotion! No other song can do that. Long live opeth

  • I FUCKING DIE AT 3:00

  • check it out !

    i was there !

i am the guy with the black shirt !

  • this is the first opeth song i ever listened to. what a beauty ,, what a beauty

  • @ikuabbas90 Same here... Fell in love with it instantly, still love this song.

  • I you mute the music for most of the song one would think Mikes is like soundchecking, just stands there calm a playing with the guitar. But when muting off, well... I cant believe he can press out thouse guttural sounds as what is seems effortless and at the same time playing quite well,

  • great opeth song !

  • Beauty Meets Brutality, Simply Mesmerizing.

  • 4:56 I love how the piano breaks the sudden pause in the song <3

  • Best outro ever

  • W-O-W

  • Starting this new year listening to Opeth \m/ best band ever

  • TONIGHT THE DEMON SLEEPS ONCE AGAIN!!!

  • You can hurt your wrist really bad typing long comments.

  • I wish I could growl like Mikael

  • is peters Prs Se 245 a coustom? because i cant seem to find one exactly like his one.

  • QUE TEMASOO!!!

  • I've just taken a decision : I'm gonna learn to growl!

  • @zwortaymon Good luck, but please be careful! It can really hurt your voice if you do it wrong. If you don't know any singing technique yet I would recommend checking the DVD "The Zen of Screaming" from Melissa Cross. I didn't pursue growling for long because I just have no talent for it at all, but the technique she teaches on "Zen of Screaming 1" is basic singing technique which everybody who sings should know.

  • @Altairograph Oh thanks a lot for the advice, I'll check that. It's always interesting to get some tools and advice.

    Thanks again :)

  • 4:54 to 6:40 is the best part of the song a classic stile of the black metal, I grew up listening this song like a child we are waiting for the next year OPETH in chile ;)

  • AMAAAAZIIING!!!! the best song for me DEMON OF THE FALL Mikael you are the best!!!!

    cheers from Chile

  • Run away, run away, run awaaaaaay

  • What's going on! I can't get to the end of this before restarting! Powerful. Thanks everyone for a nice lot of band suggestions.

  • it cracks me up when the crowd claps to the beat.... not really one of those songs.

  • 2:58: GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wacken 2012 :)

  • Awesome, back when Mikael could still growl to his full ability. Oh well.

  • 'Demon of the Fall' was the first song from Opeth I ever heard and to this day it is still my favorite. Such a brutal piece of art.

  • what a fantastic fucken band

  • 5:11 to 6:45 Beautiful I love it!

    Epic song! XD

  • nice to hear this live( with good recording)!

  • i love the crowds at opeth concerts! some of the coolest fans ever!

  • The 8 people that disliked this video like bad music.

  • at 6:27 when he starts his sorta of guitar cry...this gives me the shivers

  • When Mikael starts singing "Just one second, and I was left with nothing" I just get the shivers... It makes my soul cry. In a good way.

This song is just too fucking amazing.

  • @rataxlp I feel the same!

  • 4:21

Watch how Peter & Mikael put their picks in their mouth in sync.

  • Magic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • IMO this is Mikael's growl at it's best.

  • DEMON!!! DEMON OF THE FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!!!!!!!

    Fuck this song is empowering!

  • gotta love Martins headbanging

  • @skmetalhead16 side to side, lol. Mendez is always high when he plays LOL

  • Just one second, and I was left with nothing.

Her fragrance still pulsating through damp air.

That day came to an end.

And she had lost in me, her credence.

    :')

  • CONCHESUMADRE WN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

  • i'm going to see them together with pain of Salvation, it's going to be really awesome i suppose XD

  • @inMYtimeOFneed92 me too, in stuttgart. Im extremely looking forward to it.

  • @dasDoudi when i saw the news about their concert with PoS i was like: " OH MY REALLY FUCKING GOD WHAT THE HELL, U GOT TO BE KIDDING" XD i was almost in tears, this is really something epic :)

  • 2:40 - 8===D ~~~~

  • I swear that this is the only live mix I've ever heard the keys so prominent in. I love it. \m/

  • Hey thanks everyone for so much sugestions. Through these past months that I've been listening to Opeth they became one of my most favourite bands and I'm really glad I discovered them. Now I want to support this great band by buying their CDs not downloading.

  • KEEP THE CAMERA ON MIKAEL I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HIS RIFF! D:

  • @SolSilence lol not that i play the guitar but I totally know your frustration. you want to focus in on one person etc and the editer keep going from camera to camera and never staying on one camera for more than a few seconds

  • @drummer25664 Its great video just not when your trying to see him play guitar xD

  • @SolSilence Use your ears, not your eyes. Master this and you will become a buff guitarist.

  • @darth420vader I am trying :D

Only been playing for 4-5 months xD

  • not a white shirt in that crowd lol

  • @MochizMuM Can't wait for the show at the Warfield in October!

  • @MochizMuM White shirts are not very metal.

  • @ryanb113n your mom is not metal

  • @MochizMuM Zing!

  • @ryanb113n totes

  • @ryanb113n white shirts are metal. You can't see blood on black shirts.

  • @MochizMuM 1:09 ,, white shirt spotted !!! :P

  • @MochizMuM 0:44 left

  • @MochizMuM There's a guy with a white shirt at 1:10

  • Opeth is just so diverse there really is no other band that matches their musicality. In a lot of classical music such as my favorite composer, Dvorak, the songs have a familiar melody that is super catchy but not over used and all his songs blend well. I feel like Mikael is the modern Dvorak. FUCK YEAH DEATH METAL! Runner weigh.

  • @DirtyCleAnDRuMMer92 they blend the most beautiful music and the most brutal music better than anyone

  • nice luciferian symbolism in those horns

  • "We're going to do one more rockstar thing." haha

  • Mikael Åkerfeldt has the sickest growls^^

  • DEEMOOOON! DEMON OF THE FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUULL!!!!!!

  • Opeth makes beautiful music and is real music there,, mikael he knows music :) without opeth then music going downhill.

  • I wish I had Peter's guitar pick! Used for my favorite Opeth song too?

  • @sillymonkey829 he isn't using the pick of destiny?

  • i just came...twice

  • After watching some of these Roundhouse Tapes on here... it's tempted me to buy the actual thing.

  • Love this band!

  • IM A HARDCORE OPETH FAN, SUPPORT MY MUSIC TOO ? :)

  • Not many bands are as good as Opeth..sadly :/

  • who the HELL is dumb enough to dislike this? Such an epic song.

  • @jahaivian Heathens and falses.

  • I want them to have another conscert in Sweden this year! And without the mire of bad artists that I would have to get through.

  • God damn this song is the fucking shit!

  • Opeth is my favorite band, and i love everything they do. i hate to critisize, but Axe isnt playing half the stuff Lopez played. Not just fills and stuff, technical stuff that you wouldnt notice most of the time too.

  • they are my GODS...

  • i just got to say that this is the best song ever invented...

  • This is my favorite song from this DVD. I hope they play it when I see them live in Oct!

  • I say novembre is a good choice. Never disappointed with them.

  • I love the added strings in the beginning, it really adds a lot of texture.

  • Makes me want to go to Salvation Army and get me some Bellbottoms!!!

  • Thanks everyone for suggestions.

  • 1:51 Mikael looks hilarious l:3

  • \/

  • My Arms, Your Hearse is a classic! F'ing rules!!

  • This is one great performance. Hail Opeth!

  • I need recommondations. I'm was always more into thrash, but now I'm interested in bands like Opeth. Bands that combine death, melodic, progressive..... I don't mean melodic death as in flames. Something thats not too melodic but it's not as death as Cannibal Corpse for example. It's hard to explain... Something similar to Opeth, cuase I really like this guys. I discovered them through Bloodbath. Any suggestions?

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Listen to more Opeth.

  • @Jakedunc well said

  • @Jakedunc Best answer ever.

  • @Jakedunc LMFAO

  • @Killer0nTh3Run

    Listen to Gojira.....

  • @Killer0nTh3Run how do did you listen to bloodbath before opeth? thats just insane lol

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Swallow the Sun

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Try Edge Of Sanity or any project by Dan Swano. Especially his solo album called Moontower, which is completely spectacular.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run

    maudlin of the Well

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Check out Synic man. Progressive death metal. I seen them support Opeth. Brilliant band.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run YES...listen more to OPETH

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Agalloch from Oregon real good they share beauty and brutality that makes me love both but opeth is still a band on its own u might even get into porcupine tree

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Try Novembre.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Ermmm, not really melodic but a lot more interesting that straight death and pretty progressive. You've no doubt heard of Nile :)

  • @Killer0nTh3Run try katatonia,octomber tide, dark lunacy,and swallow the sun :D

  • @Killer0nTh3Run There's always Cynic and Between the Buried and Me, and Death (Cynic and Opeth are considered the godfathers of Progressive Death Metal, while Death is the "originator")

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Be'Lakor and INSOMNIUM, Ensiferum is awesome can't get enough folk metal

  • @Killer0nTh3Run If you want bands that very closely resemble Opeth's sound you should listen to In Mourning and Novembre. However, off the top of my head some progressive Death Metal bands are Atheist, Cynic, Disillusion, Death, Nocturnus, Sadist, Pestilence, Orphaned Land, Amorphis, Edge of Sanity, and I've missed a ton but it's late and I'm tired. Try those bands though, all of their sounds are different but have that same progressive feeling that I like.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Tool my friend.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Try Porcupine Tree :)

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Listen to Edge of Sanity. and Anything by Dan Swano. He's the "mentor" of Opeth, and an awesome musician in his own right.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run The closest thing that there is out there to Opeth is the Edge of Sanity. Mainly on the two 40-minute-long movie songs Crimson Part 1 and 2. Those albums combine brutal death metal with melodic, progressive clean vocal passages. Definitely check those two albums out if you haven't already, they're amazing.

There really is no other band quite like Opeth, though, ultimately...

  • @Killer0nTh3Run

    Katatonia, sorta.

Swallow the Sun, Daylight Dies, Novembre, Porcupine Tree for the prog part.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run you could try listen to deaths album "human", especially "lack of comprehension".

they dont do clean vocals, but the "human" album is pretty melodic imo

  • @Killer0nTh3Run katatonia? Na wait for the new Opeth album!!!

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Opeth really are one of a kind. A band that is similar though would be Katatonia however they are more of dark rock kinda vibe

  • @Killer0nTh3Run

    Disillusion.

  • @bodom6546 I was about to say just that.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run In Mourning is pretty good. Listen to the song called Debris, it has kind of an Opeth Feel, pretty heavy.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Why would you need other bands? Just listen to more opeth!

  • @Killer0nTh3Run If you love the technicallity of the music, then you'll love Meshuggah, but they're a good bit heavier than Opeth. Impossible time signatures, and polyrythems. Difficult to play. Lyrically brilliant, but like I said, pretty raw. Just don't abandon Opeth! That would be a sin.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Listen to Meshuggah ;)

  • @Killer0nTh3Run I would definitly recomend insomnium to you. it not so much prog it but it does remind me of opeth

    ww.youtube.com/watch?v=InLYMtyaTdw&feature=related

you may also enjoy katatonias second cd as it had micheal akerfeldt as the lead singer on it and you can definitly hear hes influence on the whole cd . though it is more melodic doom with death metal influences

    ww.youtube.com/watch?v=r5tW9fekzJo

  • @perderabo11 ok those 2 links didnt work as planned. anyway the 2 songs names are insomnium- the elder

    and katatonia - brave

  • @Killer0nTh3Run

There is no bands u can compare to opeth they are very unique but however i allways thought TooL was much like opeth not sound wise but just as progressive and unique.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run These guys don't scream but you might like Katatonia. Mike actually did vocals for them on their second album I believe.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run could not agrre more with @Jakedunc

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Katatonia have some things in common. Their old stuff is also progressive death, more slow-paced and darker, and their new stuff is melancholic progressive (sadly no more brutal vocals).

Ihsahn's solo work is also very melodic and progressive but combined with black metal, not death. Listen to the song Unhealer (featuring Mikael) and if you like it listen to the rest of the album (angL).

Tool and Porcupine Tree for equally progressive, but not death metal bands

  • @Killer0nTh3Run novembre might suit your tastes. check them out

  • @Killer0nTh3Run Edge Of Sanity!

  • Aw shit this never gets old :D

  • @Killer0nTh3Run It's simple, there's no band like Opeth. But most Opeth fans also like Porcupine Tree. They're much softer than Opeth, but with the same quality. Both band's leaders are very good friends, musically influencing each other (that's why Opeth got into more progressive style with Blackwater Park and following albums, and Porcupine Tree's music has more metal elements after In Absentia). Both bands are kind of soulmates. :)

  • @Killer0nTh3Run

I like exactly that kind of death, Opeth is probably my favorite band. Something similar to them is hard to find, I believe impossible, but in the same range of progressive melodic yet still quite brutal death metal I can suggest Hypocrisy (try the album The Arrival, or Virus) or Dark Tranquillity (try Haven, or Character).

Also Amon Amarth (not as melodic yet just enough) and Death (co-founders of death metal, yet way more complex than Cannibal Corpse) are to my very liking.

  • @Killer0nTh3Run theres nothing like opeth, but a great band is mastodon, hope you like it

  • @Killer0nTh3Run I strongly recommend Wintersun.

  • @Humalakala why would you do that at this sacred place?
