The picture quality in our case through the DCA has been visibly worse than that of our HDTVs when connected directly to cable. The incoming digital analog signals in both HD and SD get converted to analog and pushed through in Standard Definition at average quality.
No need for an adapter box, when you already have a QAM HDTV ...
My understanding is that the adapter literally becomes your TVs tuner. About all that you need at that point is the screen (or picture tube on older sets).
