  • Thanks, great lesson. Danny "the challenged guitar player"

  • Nailed the tone.

  • Hey mate just asking about the Blue Velvets, where are they on your guitar and what how does it sound. Is it heavy, clean? Thinking about putting one in my Strat. Thanks

  • Thank you.

  • Now the right hand? Giggity

  • yea babee

    feeel de blues!!

  • best SRV lesson I've seen on Youtube,,,,thanks.

  • Do you use a crunch sound for that? Or any pedal?

  • is this guitar tuned standard?

  • WOW! C.L.E.A.R!! More, please.

  • tunning is E flat?

  • I've already learnt this but i really like your sound, so i keep listening to it XD

  • oooooooooo this isnt tuned in e thats y im off duh

  • sweet man what amp are u using it sounds mad

  • missin the small hammer onto the 4th fret after the 3rd on the low e but other than that it was very well played

  • All I can say is thanks very much!!- you present it in a manner that allows others to follow the pattern - Keep 'em coming

  • Awesome video ! Thanks for sharing !

  • Thanks man. Nice vid

  • why is there always one in the bunch...nice job brother - nice teaching approach

  • "Bad habits and a sloppy style" There's one in every crowd!!!! Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. Nice job on the lesson man. Keep up the good work. Your style is just fine.

  • naa you have bad habits and a sloppy style man

  • think of em as intentional 'style' points..lighten up my man

  • You rock kid! Nice pace for me to learn it. You don't screw around and talk about it. really the better instructional video I've seen.! Thanks and thanks to Stevie! RIP brother!

  • man your a good player but stop playing and breake it down nice and slow part by part

  • Absolutely brilliant video! You are doing a fine service to the man himself by teaching others how to play Stevie's songs.

One point that I would ask of you is whether you can do a similar instructional video on another SRV classic, 'Life Without You'? I haven't seen any others out there and you would be perfect to teach it.

All the best dude, keep it up!

  • I could try that one. I haven't played it in a really long time, so I'll need a refresher. But I'll be sure to tackle that one sometime soon my friend.

Thanks and have a good one!

  • Honestly I cannot thank you enough.

We're planning to do a cover of it (also with a violin in it) for a music competition soon and it would be immensely helpful to have it fully explained from someone with such a talent for playing Stevie's music.

  • Great Lesson i love how you keep SRV alive!!

by the way what kind of fender strat is that and what pickups do you have in?

  • Thanks

Fender California Strat with Dimarzio Blue Velvets

  • First of all great lesson!

You played a little fill at 0:20-0:21 you didn't include in the lesson lol.

I think it's 2s3s2 on the B string, then 2nd fret on the D string. Followed by the open G and B strings Hammer on first fret for both and then the open top E?

  • Oops sorry I meant the 2s3s2 was on the G not B -___-

  • Yup, that's correct :-)

    Sorry about that!

  • thank you!

  • much better lesson this time!! really helpful!

  • VERY GOOD!!!

  • thats awesome man thanks again!

  • very nice, theres one thing you did in there that Ive always wanted to know. its at ~2:50, with the B7 chord. SRV did that a lot, Im just wondering whats the picking pattern when he did that B7 arpeggio

  • It's hard to explain via text, but if you know rhythms, it's:

Tri - let, tri p let, three, (rest on four)

    D U D U D U [D= down pick, U = up pick]

    b d# b a d# f# [arpeggiated note order of the B7]

I'm doing this without a guitar reference, so sorry if it's wrong. I tried! :-)
