If you are a fan of this kind of stuff you should check out the documentary "First Accent" its all about free climbers attempting first accents and has some really awesome footage - too bad this guy didn't do that as free climb - still incredibly impressive though

@hfontain12 Uh, yes he did. Free climbing simply means without using gear to help you. Trad and sport are still free climbing because the gear is only there to protect against a fall, not to make the climb easier like in aid climbing. Climbing with no gear at all is soloing.

people bolt routes all the time that they may not necessarily be able to send. part of jumbo love on clark mountain was bolted by another guy, but sharma made the FA. basically you can set the anchors and place the draws and not necessarily be the person who makes the FA.

In this current age there is no one close to climbing something like this without being prepared to fall a lot. You can’t compare alex and chris as they are both at the top of totally different disciplines within climbing. Chris couldn’t free solo what alex does but alex cannot climb 9b

Yeah they are hard (5.13a) but not godly like dreamcatcher for example (5.14d)..That’s like 7 grades of difference, what makes them impressive achievements is that they do it without a rope. Neither could climb as hard as chris with a rope. "Free Soloing" climbing without a rope is considered a totally different discipline, focused on climbing the line perfectly so you don’t fall and die.

There is a rock wall like this one I had a tough time with, when I lived in western WV. Took me three trips to get to the top and three Bison chalk balls! Granite/sandstone rock, I was pretty cut up to say the least, but loved it. Nice work on this climb!
