So, Fox news viewers admit that the use of torture is likely to cause backlash in terms of recruitment for the Al-Qaeda (hell, one of the guys responsible for a terrorist attack that was caught actually was shown a scene from a movie by his recruiters). The appropriate thing to do to soothe people isn't to pretend that such incidents didn't occur, it's to compensate the victims, apologise profusely, start an investigation and punish the perpetrators. Perhaps resign, too.
Oh yeah, if anyone wants a really good treatment as to whether the ratification of torture was systemic, check out Zimbardo's book and lecture discussing it, "The Lucifer Effect".
I could care less if the United State military tortures Al Qaeda detainees. Those Al Qaeda animals had the time of their lives. Torture goes on all over the world every single day. Wake up and smell the coffee. The only thing some stupid American troops did wrong was to take photographs and get caught.
So you'd have the time of your life completely naked in a human pyramid full of men with Alsatians barking at you? Remind me never to go to one of your parties.
@Jefgg So you'd have the time of your life completely naked in a human pyramid full of men with Alsatians barking at you? Remind me never to go to one of your parties.
It seems like in a lot of republicans minds - if you can sucessfully ignore or cover up something then that makes problems go away - because as long as you don't have to deal with it then it never really happened... so anyone blowing the whistle on abuses like that is just "making trouble" - using that mindset.
Out of sight - out of mind, apparently.
Its not too dissimilar to the whole thing with "outsourcing" prisoners to allies who don't have laws against torture - 'cos hey WE didn't do it!
I think the only reason you can make these videos so well is that you can pause Bill. I just imagined you trying to do this live with the moron yelling over you.
@oldstock1607 freedom of knowing just what the fuck your crazy ass government is doing to this world is a "civil liberty" why should we keep our soldiers "safe" when they are fighting for the entirely wrong reasons? support the troops not war
@BladedArrowTBGamer why should we keep our soldiers safe...right. I'm sure that as a leftist, the lives of terrorists are more important than those of our troops anyway, aren't they?
@oldstock1607 no im not saying soldiers dont deserve to be safe but war isnt about being safe its bout protecting OUR FREEDOMS. How is them just sitting around in a god forsaken desert while fat cats have way to much power? and im not a leftist or a rightest i believe both democrats and republicans both have good ideas just each side has shitty leadership
@oldstock1607 actually you could turn to the Monroe doctrine for that. im not saying we shouldn't ever have war. just we shouldn't do it with torture and forsake all of our founding fathers beliefs that we hold these truths to be self evident life, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness. If you give a government too much power liberty is the first thing to go
@BladedArrowTBGamer Agreed, Torture is beneath the dignity of America. And there has been no true reason since WW2 to extend our military might beyond the western hemisphere.
Evil plans are attractively packaged and are reliant upon the duplicity of moral people to get implemented as exemplified by our brave soldiers in Iraq & Afghanistan passing out candy and teddy bears on Monday, and killing scores of children with depleted uranium on Tuesday.
No, this is not the result of gays and dykes being put in the military, it is the result of brainwashed, xenophobic rednecks being placed in the military.
@hanalei169 What are you saying these Terrorists are better fighters than the Nazis. We didn't have to leave the rules at the U.S. border then, why is now so different? We didn't torture, we had intelligence officers that spoke the language and looked the part, sneak in and join up to find the information we needed. We captured the enemy when we could and yes killed them when we could not. Those we captured we kept locked up until the war was over and then put them on trial. We played by the rules
@gamesmaster35 Should I apologize for for not understanding your questions and statments. I will try to clarify a bit. First what I said was a very short comment on a topic that (in my opinion) deserves much more indepth rational thought. What I ment about keeping the moral high ground is-that I loose whatever honor, pride, etc. if I become what I despise by throwing away my humanity to justify the means, That said, if I/we don't triumph is what's left worth living for. not enough room to talk
@hanalei169 no.I guess what I got from your first statement is that you felt what good is holding on to your principals if you lose.In short that the ends justify the means. If you're not saying that then I apoligize and withdraw my statement.
I know the 500 word limit is a real pain in the butt.Anyway have a good day.
The US establishment controls an empire which enforces its rule across the world by force. It is only concerned with its own interests and cares nothing for the populations it exploits, not even its own. "We should cease to talk about vague and... unreal objectives such as human rights... The day is not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts" George Kennan, Director of Policy Planning, U.S. State Department, 1948.
Americans ,you r making the terrorism units, every person visited your jails is searching for revenge, your low attitude is supporting alqaeda by men. you should wait and you will see what u dont Imagen.
I never saw the ACLU stripping people naked. To the Islamic people, degradation by being stripped naked and piled on top of each other like holocaust victims is way worse than death.
Yet I do not know the whole story, were these prisoners just captured soldiers or were they guilty of their own war crimes? because if they did something worse, then they got what was coming to them. If the soldiers were just doing it for fun, then they need prison time for treason.
@Spartan404 2 wrongs do not make a right. It is seems easy for you to come up with an acceptable excuse for treating people this way. Even if they were guilty of their own war crimes that isn't permission for our soldiers to commit war crimes against them. The American soldiers are clearly in a position of power over those they captured without degrading them or treating them in an unhumane way.
The title is perfect! Our troops are safer when the enemy sees that we do not tolerate war crimes from our side either and are not hypocrites, because they see we have values for human rights, and are more likely to return the favor for the POWs they capture from us. He said ACLU should of never released the information, but never stated these war criminals should of never committed the war crimes. Our media should explain the crime and explain the charges brought against the war criminals.
All educated free people know O'Reilly is behind anyone in uniform or republican power regardless of their virtue. Has he ever criticized a police officer for brutally assaulting or murdering an innocent person? No, because he is fake. Bringing war criminals to justice is what all America "should" be about. Liberty and justice for ALL!! A real person admits when he is wrong. The man is a clown never to be taken seriously.
The U.S. WILL NOT be withdrawing from Iraq. The U.S. govt. is building a city within the city of Baghdad under the guise of embassy compound. Its cost is in the billions. The boondoggle includes heliports, swimming pools, a gymnasium, a power plant, water works, a sewage treatment plant, apartment blocks, armories, shops, media center and so forth.
@FinallyTheNight Okay I will do this research, and see if I come to the same conclusion. But I warn you, just because someone says so, doesn't make it so. PROOF is much more than that :o)
So at :43 O'Reilly cites statistics that say 77% of Americans believe that the photos would cause harm or a backlash to or against our troops.
What that really means is that 77% of Americans didn't approve of the conduct that was portayed in those photos. Based on the logic that the American people would not want to harm, or cause harm their own troops.
If you can't take the consequences don't do the crime. If the military think these actions are going to cause them so many problems, why do they engage in this behavior?
One slight beef with this video. "American values".
Given that these values are pretty much rejected other than as lip service by a substantial part of Americans (mainly by the right wing) and extolled by people in several other countries (such as Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada) it seems a bit narrow to define them as "American values". That said I do understand where you're coming from and why you probably used that terminology. Keep up the good work.
It amazes me how people can claim they are supporting freedom, liberty and democracy while implicitly condoning and permitting their country's torture and abuse of others.
If you're going to say: "we're powerful, this war is for our own interests, not anybody else's, and if we want to torture people we will" then that's understandable. Evil, but logical.
But to claim to be champions of virtue while turning a blind eye to the terrible actions you do is nothing less than the height of hypocrisy.
I love how the poll was done by fux news @ 0:38!! The people who respond to that are people aready watching the stupid channel! That's no cross-section of America!!
Terrorists WILL use these pictures as recruiting tools. The ACLU knows this, but doesn't care. Going after Republicans is far more important to them. American values.
This guy hits the nail right on the head. IF we're supposed to be supporting "our troops," and IF we're supposed to be so proud of them, then the powers that be should not be hiding our troops's actions from us. NOR from the enemy, I might add. Let them take prideworthy actions that they are not afraid to have made public, and then make them public. Anything else is just pure hogwash.
Fox news goes over the top too often, a government by the people for the people has no other option then to look into such matters and make them transparent. To hide sin only lets it fester and grow getting it out in the open no matter how painful will be a good thing in the long run for America and the troops
Hey, the rest of us deserve to know what the troops are doing, they are representing us. Think people, most of those soldiers are young and grew up in a culture of violence(video games mainly, movies....) and they need to be reveled if they are doing wrong. And held accountable for their actions while representing the rest of us. O'reilly spews fact less bullshit every show he does. No proof, just a bunch of yelling and nonsense
He is scared to death of being wrong. Or brainwashed, or both.
Don't, don't, don't fucking blame video games and movies and other entertainment mediums for the idiocy of people's actions. There has never been a link between increased violent behavior and exposure to violent media. If someone kills someone else it's not the fault of GTA or Scare face or some book, it's their own damn fault.
don't americans understand that the owner of fox news was not born in america?! What kind of stake does rupert murdoch really hold in our country.....money. He wants to make money off of any fears we might have. Wake up!!!!
As an Australian (the country where Murdoch was born) I feel I must apologise on behalf of my Nation for allowing a person of such destructive potential and selfish intentions into the world.
This person cares about nothing more than gathering as much money and influence as possible and has no regard for impact on the world.
If you feel the need to execute him for treason, or any other charge, you will have my full support.
I guess the 'right' is fighting for timing more then whether it's right or wrong. Is it alright to release the photos and transparency about torture after the war is done?
Would the military be at risk if transparency is released while the troops are fighting?
the world was threatened by the US.. TOLD THE WORLD NOT TO OPPOSE THE US
"HE WHO IS ISNT WITH US, IS WITH THE TERRORIST" something to that effect.
while IRAQ never had terrorists and the US had to physically purchase Saudi suicide terrorists to do thier dirty work and fals flag on 9-11 and all over inside IRAQ.
It's common sense that the honesty & transparency of releasing the US's Torture Photos WON'T "endanger Americans and soldiers" , or create any more grudges than ALREADY exists by the 100 millions of horrified victims ..as long as justice & change are rightly undertaken by ( & for) the world community.
The only grudges that Publicizing the photos WILL create will be BY AMERICAN PEOPLE who will be ASHAMED ASHAMED ASHAMED ASHAMED ASHAMED ASHAMED ASHAMED
ok folks here is a simple history lesson since most americans cant name the 3 levels of govrnment, according to the state of oklahoma. (they gave the us imagration test to all the states high school students a couple weeks ago)
every one of our founding fathers was pretty percise as to who is resonseable for everything that happens in our country and this duty is summed up in 3 words...
WE THE PEOPLE...
learn out history people, and not just the political correct fluff but all of it.
The real 9-11 terrorists are the MIC / Pentagon. as a false flag.
Google & look at the OPERATION NORTHWOODS document ...and You will see..
how the Joint Chiefs all sign their names to plan False-flag attacks, which include deliberately killing their OWN civilians in order to popularize their war plans.
ANOTHER ATTACK IS IMMINENT
AND I hope the NEXT victims consist %100 of the brainwashed sheep ..It will be poetic justice.
I watched something recently with Bill trying to say amsterdam is a cesspool of crime because of there drug policy. This is a blatant lie and I've not been able to respect anything this man has had to say since then.
Okay, I'm having a really difficult time posting the versus from the Quran that talk about "People of the Book". I've tried like five times now. And the links aren't working either. So if you want to see them, just google "Quran People of the Book". The first thing that pops up is wiki, which does a good job of explain "People of the Book" and the second is a website full of versus referring to "People of the Book"
terrorist might manipulate that versus to give them reason to bomb a Jewish Base in Palestine. And there are some contradictions in the bible, the whole "eye for an eye" and then "turn the other cheek" thing is one.
...confirm their government's (not sure if that's the right word for the Middle East) propaganda. This would provide support and evidence "against" the United States, and therefore bring into fruition a new wave of inflammatory thought.
Once again, I find your ignorance exceptionally unfathomable, and the ignorance of most liberals to be at much higher levels than usual. The photos are inflammatory, not the crimes. In a Third World impoverished Muslim nation, there are actual beliefs that the United States is on a religious crusade and that we bomb schools to kill children--it's called propaganda. Regardless of whether or not the crime was committed, Muslims think they were committed anyway. Releasing the photos would only...
So your reply is in short: that becouse we're at war it is okay to compramise the values your nation is built on to prevent your enemy an gaining a potential advantage.
With some "liberals are worthless" thrown in for luck of coarse....
Boy this is really pathetic. What a hard-on this cat has for O'Reilly. Dude tries so hard to "debunk" everything the man says and to this day has never been able to do it relevantly, sad; I feel sorry for his children.
But, even an insult requires some logic. I couldn't call you a nigger if you weren't black or a faggot if you weren't gay; I mean, I could, but it wouldn't make any sense.
And, who's whinning? You? While you jerk off to the "LiberalViewer?" The wanna-be journalist? Damn, your life is sad. Again I say, good day.
Hey man, I can believe what I want. As far as my beliefs being a joke, that's your "opinion," I could easily say the same about your's.
"The wanna-be journalist"...How is that whinning,you incompetent jackass,lol. I don't take you seriously.
You talk about a comedy show dedicated to O'Reilly, that's only because he's a face,on a national network;and you're sittin'on youtube watchin'"The wanna-be journalist,"the LiberalViewer as he pretends to be somebody. If Mr.O is a joke whats the make LV?
LiberalViewer doesn't pretend to be some star. He doesn't even appear on camera for the majority of his videos (though on his personal site you can see him in video if you'd like). Where the hell are you basing your belief on his ego?
Being right about something doesn't mean you have a power trip. It means you supported yourself with facts and debased a crude and unethical argument. To answer your last question, it makes LiberalViewer a responsible journalist.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well, I'd be as "correct" as you are using your logic. Ha, and just 'cause what I say means nothing to you, doesn't mean it isn't relevant; you're not making a lot of sense here smart guy. And man, if O'Reilly is such a shitty journalist, then why is he so sucessful and the "LiberalViewer" can't get an audience other than youtubers? Come one man, get your head out of your ass.
"Well, I'd be as "correct" as you are using your logic" yes but unlike myself-you'd be wrong
" if O'Reilly is such a shitty journalist, then why is he so sucessful"- success does not mean merit, watch MTV sometime. "Come one man, get your head out of your ass." pull your out of o' reillys first.
Haha, excellent. And you're damn right, success never directly equals quality. MTV, the initial years of the Bush administration... countless examples. The fact that more Republicans cite Fox as their primary news source than Democrats do for CNN is not a good thing.
He's a very successful journalist. Being able to speak his mind freely and yet report quality information while backing it up with very solid evidence is the mark of an expert journalist. The liberal spin is minimal. His positions might be liberal but to this day I haven't seen an error he didn't account himself for later.
That's a whole lot better than the rest of the field which goes for the cheap sensational headline and throws the reader for a loop.
On MSNBC maybe you'd have some credibility. Regardless of what you think, LiberalViewer presents very fair positions that don't come from a Liberal agenda, but come from his distaste with unprofessional journalism. He is exposing misleading broadcasting, which by doing so in of itself carries no explicit bias.
If LiberalViewer wanted to throw liberal spin upon his videos, he would say "Bill O'Reilly is trying to turn the entire nation into racist gun-toting rednecks". That's just not true.
O'Reilly is just what that doctore recently described him as, a fascist. He doesnt want transparency, accountability, truth. He perpetually supports crimes, coverups, and misdirects accountability. All hallmarks of a fascist ideology
Serious crimes were committed, there needs to be accountability for there to be justice and for the country to uphold its basic principles. We are either a decent people where no are above the law or we are a lawless, fascist country. What happens will tell which
just as a disclaimer, I have nothing against Christians, I'm a pretty moderate one myself. Religion is hardly ever wrong, its the people who manipulate it for their own agenda that are in the wrong. To answer Mrhashslinginslasher question, Hitler used the desperation of the Germans during the great depression as a way to manipulate them into doing things they wouldn't normally do by promising them better times. You wouldn't consider germans naturally violent would you?
no one has been far to those guys. It would be unfair to blanket an entire religion and link it to terrorism. Up until recently, Christians have been far more bloody and forceful in their conversion the muslims and the recent rise in violence in the Middle East can also be attributed to (besides their leaders) they're rather poor economy which makes them easier for religious nuts, who don't represent most of the population, to manipulate them. Kinda like Hitler in WW2 Germany
When have Christians ever tried to force others to convert to Christianity by force? Islam does it everyday of the week. U prob dont know this, but the Pres of Iran sent a letter to George W. Bush in 2003 saying that the U.S. HAD to convert to Islam or Iran would wage war on the U.S. Of course Bush said no and Iran started sending in ppl from there own country to kill our soldiers in Iraq. Thats the kind of ppl were dealing with here. They hate us bc of our religion and for what we stand for.
when has christians tried to convert by force? pick and era and I can point out an example. the most obvious ones would be the crusades, and the native americans, or slaves, etc etc, there are a lot of examples.
burcoman990 is right, militants already have recruiting tools. If they don't already know about the torture before the pictures came out they probably made stuff up.
Like I stated before, I feel like admitting our mistakes helps our soldiers more then anything else
The Crusades werent about converting ppl to Christianity, they were about taking back the Holy Land that the Muslims had taken from them. The fact that the Europeans took this land from the Native Americans had nothing to do with religion at all so i dont understand why u would use that example. And when have mass amounts of Christians ever tried to enslave ppl and force them to convert? Never. Christianity is the best moral code to live by, even our founders agreed to that.
after the crusaders took over a city they often forced people to convert or die, in fact thats what the entire Baltic Crusades were about. The Catholic church has a horrible history in the Americas with Natives and forcing them to convert, and when i said slaves I mean the African Americans we dragged over here. Sometimes (although not always) masters would force slaves to go to church and become christian as a way of leaving their "savage" ways behind.
Well im not Catholic at all, im non-denominational. I left the Catholic Church bc they are ridiculous. I will agree with u that the Catholic Church has done some pretty dumb things in the past and they have been very corrupt. The Catholic Church does not represent the entire Christian faith. And some slave owners could have done that but u cant blame the Bible or the entire Christian faith for a few peoples faults. If they did that then they were not following the Bible's teachings.
just like the muslims that try and force conversions aren't following the Quran. I have nothing against Christians, in fact I am one. But just like the "christians" that bomb abortion clinics and try and force conversions don't represent all christian in the lest, the terrorists that claim to be muslims hardly represent the entire muslim population. Thats what i was trying to point out.
But there are versus in the Quran that call for the destruction of Israel and and of all Christians. Its in there Bible. They may chose to ignore it, but its in there. The Christian Bible doesnt contradict itself or call for any violence like that. Those people who call themselves Christians and do horrible things dont obviously follow the teachings of the Bible. But Muslims, if they blow up a Jewish Military base for no reason, they're essentially following what the Quran says.
Where is this verse? I'll admit, I haven't come close to reading all of the Quran but what I have read has told the Muslims to treat the Jews and Christians kind of like misguided brothers, or "People of the Book" because they share a history together. in fact at the time the Quran was written there was no official israeli country. As for the military bases, there is a verse that talking about not living under the rule of none Muslims, but not to fight it through violence. Thats were some
Qur'an (2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]...and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah."
Qur'an (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority".
But Christians and Jews are not considered "Unbelievers". Because all three religions claim Abraham as their sort of grandfather, and they all three have a book (the Bible, the Quran and the Torah) Christians and Jews hold a more respectable place in the Quran. Muslims even consider Jesus a wise prophet. Hence the calling of them as "People of the Book". Unbelievers were pagans and those with many gods and no religion, christian or muslim has been anywhere near fair with those guys
And then we can work on our relationships in the Middle East, which will make the job safer for our soldiers. We can't demand that our enemies pay for what they did while we sweep our own failures and horrible mistakes under the rug like it never happened. Its a bit of a double standard and hopefully once we have worked through this, it will mean better relationships and a safer job for our soldiers. They're risking their lives for us, so lets not stab them in the back by disgracing ourselves
I don't know if it has anything to do with our constitutional rights or not but I think we have every right to know what our government is doing and hold them accountable for their actions.
I'm sure that releasing the photos might cause 'anti-American sentiment' but I doubt it would result in increased deaths. The Taliban don't need this kind of evidence to recruit troops, in Swat they simply rounded up locals and told them they would kill them if they didn't fight. I agree with LV, the job of troops involves being endangered and undermining the values they are fighting for does them more of a disservice than potentially putting them in some small amount more danger.
I see both sides of this argument here. I understand that if these pics are released US troops might die and i also understand that if they aren't released, then the govt is covering somthing up. I think the Govt should release these pics because the American ppl must know what the bush admin did and all the war crime's it has committed. I also think all the people in the bush admin should be put on trial for the murder of US soldgiers in Iraq and the deaths of a million Iraqis.
This Admin is still new, its like 8 months old so give it a chance. And no one's brushing aside bush's crimes but, we are looking into his Admin policies and people are going to go to prison. My problem is that the investigations are limited and they don't go after the people in bush's inter-circle.
the pictures are horrorble i have seen them it just so wrong what these soldiers did i just think the soldiers that were in the pictures should be put in prison
I understand your point but as a father whos duty unto his child precedes him, I would not knowingly endanger the lives of our men and woman across seas.
What part of endangering the troops do people not understand? we send them to fight for us and we pay them back by endangering them? People need to get out of there ideologies for a minute and think about this with common sense. The ACLU is by far a far left radical organization that seeks to promote its own agenda. And to be fair, there are far right organizations that do that as well, but the ACLU is by far one of the worst.
CollegeLyfe23 " The ACLU is by far a far left radical organization"
Actually, the ACLU is nonpartisan and does not endorse or oppose political candidates, so that's wrong. If you mention specifics, I may be able to correct your misunderstanding. I've been involved with the ACLU for a long time and can provide much factual info about the way the ACLU fights for everyone regardless of ideology, protecting the traditional American values enshrined in the US Constitution
Ok, let me ask u something. Why is the ACLU in the right here, as u clearly portray in this video, by wanting photos released that would obviously put U.S. soldiers in more harms way than they already are? How is that American or decent in anyway? We ask them to fight for us then we go ahead and stab them in the back. And just bc the ACLU doesnt publicly endorse anybody doesnt mean there nonpartisan. And what traditional values in the Constitution are we protecting by releasing these photos?
CollegeLyfe "What traditional values in the Constitution are we protecting by releasing these photos"
For much info about how the principles behind FOIA are integral to the functioning of our democratic republic b/c they provide transparency and accountability necessary to a government by, for, and of the people see
tinyurl(.)com/FOIASpeech
Now, can YOU provide evidence that the ACLU is a "far left radical organization" despite its explicit policy of nonpartisanship?
So apparently you think its ok to endanger our troops even more by releasing the photos and the terrorists using them as a propaganda tool to recruit more terrorists to kill Americans? You want to stab our troops in the back? I don't think so. That is a disgrace for anyone to want that. This case alone is evidence of the ACLU's far left tendency. Also, George Soros and Peter Lewis, far left billionaires, constantly give donations to the ACLU. Soros is highly connected with the ACLU also.
I think he's just try to point out the irony in the situation, that the media is kicking up such a storm over the release of the pictures that people can't even focus on the real issue, torture. you can argue forever on wether or not to release the pictures but if the torture never happened then none of this would have happened. Its focusing on the effects but not the cause. Nothing can be solved that way.
But the people who committed the crimes have already been tried and convicted. Its pointless to release the pictures. What justice is going to be served just be releasing the pictures when the people have already been convicted? The only reason ANYONE would want these pics released is to endanger the soldiers or embarrass the United States. Everyone knows it happened, its no secret. We dont need the pics to be released, it would just endanger the soldiers.
These pic's must be released so we can go after dick cheny and bush! It was because of bush why thousands of our troops died! It was becaue of him why a million iraqis Died! and yet we didn't put him on trial! I want these pic's out so the American ppl will know what our Govt did over in our name!
Yea i understand and completely disregard the troops and there lives. If you were actually for the troops then u wouldnt want these pics released. U just want the pics released bc of your far left ideology. Its all about Bush and Cheney. Theres nothing to after Bush and Cheney about this, but if u actually wanted too, there are other ways to go about it without putting the troops at risk. Your blinded by your ideology and only care about Bush and Cheney and not the troops.
Americans need to see those pictures so that they can truly recognize what happened (and still might be happening). When the people who committed the crimes did what they did they hurt all of America by cutting into the morals and beliefs we were built on, they are the ones who hurt our soldiers by their actions and created even more enemies. Pretending it never happened won't fix the damage it caused to our reputation and our ideals, but facing it and working to make sure it stops will
Releasing the pictures would do more harm than good. The terrorists will use it as propaganda tool to recruit more people. Those people who committed the crimes have already been tried and convicted. There is no point in releasing the photos at all. Also, u cant improve your relations in the Middle East lol. Have u read the Quran? It calls for the destruction of Christians and Jews and all who DO NOT convert to Islam. There is no negotiating with Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. They want us dead.
actually, I have studied parts of the Quran for a class, and in the Quran, Christians and Jews are often called "The People of the Book", and the Quran tells Muslims to treat them and their religion with some respect and not to force them to convert. in fact there is a line that says that they should not convert by the sword. The only people that should be killed were those with many Gods (thats who they mean most of the time when the say Unbelievers), and lets face it,
The have many propaganda tool! to name a few are Israels oppression of the palestinian people, Our occupation of Iraq, and our continued support for these dictators in the mid east! These are there propaganda tools and the release of these pic will hardly make a militants more angry than they already are.
The militants already have a recruiting tool and other sources of make em wanna kill US troops. When the pics come out, it will hardly make a diffrence. Its all about making the american ppl know about the crimes committed by the previous admin.
Exactly, why give them another recruiting tool too use? The Joint Chiefs, the Presidents national security advisers, and top officials at the Pentagon completely disagree with u on the fact that releasing the photos wouldnt make a difference. And these particular crimes have nothing to do with the previous admin lol. And that proves ur motives and agenda here. Your so concerned about Bush and Cheney and blinded by ur ideology that u completely disregard our brave troops.
Brave! lol! I was in the 10th mountain and what i saw was nothing but cowardness from my men! The enemy would attack and these kids would shoot in all directions! And the Afghans I was supposed to train were high on pot most of the time and these are the people we are supposed to empower these ppl to fight the militants?! Like i said before the release of these pics will do nothing for the taliban! it won't make them want to kill more troops when at this moment the already want too.
Continued. And these generals and Advisers have no idea whats happening on the ground, they think the understand the enemy but they really don't! They think they have the best intel on the taliban but its the exact opposite! This war can only be won through humanitarian aide and education; with these the msg of the Militants can be drown and unatractive. This is how we can win!
When other commit crime against US, you call it crime and announced to the world. When US commit crime against other nations/people, you call it a non issue. That is so hypocrite, and you wonder why people hate US. A crime is always a crime regardless of who commit it, Allen keep the good job, the world will be a lot safer if there are more US people like you.
Whether or not we should actually carry out the proceedure is irrelevant. When dealing with individuals of this caliber I believe that we should at least have as many options as are possible. If you continue to support Pelosi I assume that you agree with this statement. I believe that your hatred of Bush and Cheney's policies stems form a certain sadness at the inability of perfection. The United States isn't perfect and neither are Bush and Cheney, but the level hate they receive is unfair.
I personally believe that releasing those photographs would do great harm to our nation. Your claim of "blaming the evdence" really doesn't hold up against the attrocities of the opposition. That is what Mr. Cheney was trying to say. You don't seem to offer a solution that would be preferable. You are sucribed to Nancy Pelosi's channel even though the CIA had briefed her about the waterboarding. Even if we did waterboard individuals I still believe that our conditions are superior.

When you have a problem with your employer, college, police agency, IRS or local /national government the ACLU is there.
How would any individual gather enough money to have a day in court without them?

It seems like in a lot of republicans minds - if you can sucessfully ignore or cover up something then that makes problems go away - because as long as you don't have to deal with it then it never really happened... so anyone blowing the whistle on abuses like that is just "making trouble" - using that mindset.
Out of sight - out of mind, apparently.
Its not too dissimilar to the whole thing with "outsourcing" prisoners to allies who don't have laws against torture - 'cos hey WE didn't do it!

Spartan404 1 year ago
@Spartan404 2 wrongs do not make a right. It is seems easy for you to come up with an acceptable excuse for treating people this way. Even if they were guilty of their own war crimes that isn't permission for our soldiers to commit war crimes against them. The American soldiers are clearly in a position of power over those they captured without degrading them or treating them in an unhumane way.
zodiakranch 1 year ago
The title is perfect! Our troops are safer when the enemy sees that we do not tolerate war crimes from our side either and are not hypocrites, because they see we have values for human rights, and are more likely to return the favor for the POWs they capture from us. He said ACLU should of never released the information, but never stated these war criminals should of never committed the war crimes. Our media should explain the crime and explain the charges brought against the war criminals.

Up until recently, Christians have been far more bloody and forceful in their conversion the muslims and the recent rise in violence in the Middle East can also be attributed to (besides their leaders) they're rather poor economy which makes them easier for religious nuts, who don't represent most of the population, to manipulate them. Kinda like Hitler in WW2 Germany
potatochipsunsalted 2 years ago
When have Christians ever tried to force others to convert to Christianity by force? Islam does it everyday of the week. U prob dont know this, but the Pres of Iran sent a letter to George W. Bush in 2003 saying that the U.S. HAD to convert to Islam or Iran would wage war on the U.S. Of course Bush said no and Iran started sending in ppl from there own country to kill our soldiers in Iraq. Thats the kind of ppl were dealing with here. They hate us bc of our religion and for what we stand for.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
when has christians tried to convert by force? pick and era and I can point out an example. the most obvious ones would be the crusades, and the native americans, or slaves, etc etc, there are a lot of examples.
burcoman990 is right, militants already have recruiting tools. If they don't already know about the torture before the pictures came out they probably made stuff up.
Like I stated before, I feel like admitting our mistakes helps our soldiers more then anything else
potatochipsunsalted 2 years ago
The Crusades werent about converting ppl to Christianity, they were about taking back the Holy Land that the Muslims had taken from them. The fact that the Europeans took this land from the Native Americans had nothing to do with religion at all so i dont understand why u would use that example. And when have mass amounts of Christians ever tried to enslave ppl and force them to convert? Never. Christianity is the best moral code to live by, even our founders agreed to that.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
after the crusaders took over a city they often forced people to convert or die, in fact thats what the entire Baltic Crusades were about. The Catholic church has a horrible history in the Americas with Natives and forcing them to convert, and when i said slaves I mean the African Americans we dragged over here. Sometimes (although not always) masters would force slaves to go to church and become christian as a way of leaving their "savage" ways behind.
potatochipsunsalted 2 years ago
Well im not Catholic at all, im non-denominational. I left the Catholic Church bc they are ridiculous. I will agree with u that the Catholic Church has done some pretty dumb things in the past and they have been very corrupt. The Catholic Church does not represent the entire Christian faith. And some slave owners could have done that but u cant blame the Bible or the entire Christian faith for a few peoples faults. If they did that then they were not following the Bible's teachings.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
just like the muslims that try and force conversions aren't following the Quran. I have nothing against Christians, in fact I am one. But just like the "christians" that bomb abortion clinics and try and force conversions don't represent all christian in the lest, the terrorists that claim to be muslims hardly represent the entire muslim population. Thats what i was trying to point out.
potatochipsunsalted 2 years ago
But there are versus in the Quran that call for the destruction of Israel and and of all Christians. Its in there Bible. They may chose to ignore it, but its in there. The Christian Bible doesnt contradict itself or call for any violence like that. Those people who call themselves Christians and do horrible things dont obviously follow the teachings of the Bible. But Muslims, if they blow up a Jewish Military base for no reason, they're essentially following what the Quran says.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago

CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago

Jimbob2e3 2 years ago 2
I see both sides of this argument here. I understand that if these pics are released US troops might die and i also understand that if they aren't released, then the govt is covering somthing up. I think the Govt should release these pics because the American ppl must know what the bush admin did and all the war crime's it has committed. I also think all the people in the bush admin should be put on trial for the murder of US soldgiers in Iraq and the deaths of a million Iraqis.
burcoman990 2 years ago
I think you may be leaving something out that is very important.
You said "what the bush admin did".
You must realize that is is now WHAT THE OBAMA administration is DOING.
I think this is the only explanation for the brushing aside of the Bush crimes.
Obama has made himself complicit to these crimes and is now (possibly) ordering the same crimes be done.
We dint know when Bush started torturing people until the pictures came out of Abu Grabe. How would we know it is not still taking place?
qarohc 2 years ago
This Admin is still new, its like 8 months old so give it a chance. And no one's brushing aside bush's crimes but, we are looking into his Admin policies and people are going to go to prison. My problem is that the investigations are limited and they don't go after the people in bush's inter-circle.
burcoman990 2 years ago
in the 8 months they have continue every policy that you are against and have publicly renounced investigations for political reasons.
The democrats dint have the balls to impeach for war crimes although Clinton got impeached for being unfaithful and lying about it.
They had their chance and now time will white wash all their actions.
Now Obama is guilty of many of the same crimes who is going to investigate him?

I understand your point but as a father whos duty unto his child precedes him, I would not knowingly endanger the lives of our men and woman across seas.

What part of endangering the troops do people not understand? we send them to fight for us and we pay them back by endangering them? People need to get out of there ideologies for a minute and think about this with common sense. The ACLU is by far a far left radical organization that seeks to promote its own agenda. And to be fair, there are far right organizations that do that as well, but the ACLU is by far one of the worst.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
CollegeLyfe23 " The ACLU is by far a far left radical organization"
Actually, the ACLU is nonpartisan and does not endorse or oppose political candidates, so that's wrong. If you mention specifics, I may be able to correct your misunderstanding. I've been involved with the ACLU for a long time and can provide much factual info about the way the ACLU fights for everyone regardless of ideology, protecting the traditional American values enshrined in the US Constitution
Thanks 4 commenting :-)
LiberalViewer 2 years ago
Ok, let me ask u something. Why is the ACLU in the right here, as u clearly portray in this video, by wanting photos released that would obviously put U.S. soldiers in more harms way than they already are? How is that American or decent in anyway? We ask them to fight for us then we go ahead and stab them in the back. And just bc the ACLU doesnt publicly endorse anybody doesnt mean there nonpartisan. And what traditional values in the Constitution are we protecting by releasing these photos?
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
CollegeLyfe "What traditional values in the Constitution are we protecting by releasing these photos"
For much info about how the principles behind FOIA are integral to the functioning of our democratic republic b/c they provide transparency and accountability necessary to a government by, for, and of the people see
tinyurl(.)com/FOIASpeech
Now, can YOU provide evidence that the ACLU is a "far left radical organization" despite its explicit policy of nonpartisanship?
Thx 4 commenting :-)
LiberalViewer 2 years ago
So apparently you think its ok to endanger our troops even more by releasing the photos and the terrorists using them as a propaganda tool to recruit more terrorists to kill Americans? You want to stab our troops in the back? I don't think so. That is a disgrace for anyone to want that. This case alone is evidence of the ACLU's far left tendency. Also, George Soros and Peter Lewis, far left billionaires, constantly give donations to the ACLU. Soros is highly connected with the ACLU also.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
I think he's just try to point out the irony in the situation, that the media is kicking up such a storm over the release of the pictures that people can't even focus on the real issue, torture. you can argue forever on wether or not to release the pictures but if the torture never happened then none of this would have happened. Its focusing on the effects but not the cause. Nothing can be solved that way.
potatochipsunsalted 2 years ago
But the people who committed the crimes have already been tried and convicted. Its pointless to release the pictures. What justice is going to be served just be releasing the pictures when the people have already been convicted? The only reason ANYONE would want these pics released is to endanger the soldiers or embarrass the United States. Everyone knows it happened, its no secret. We dont need the pics to be released, it would just endanger the soldiers.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
These pic's must be released so we can go after dick cheny and bush! It was because of bush why thousands of our troops died! It was becaue of him why a million iraqis Died! and yet we didn't put him on trial! I want these pic's out so the American ppl will know what our Govt did over in our name!
burcoman990 2 years ago
Yea i understand and completely disregard the troops and there lives. If you were actually for the troops then u wouldnt want these pics released. U just want the pics released bc of your far left ideology. Its all about Bush and Cheney. Theres nothing to after Bush and Cheney about this, but if u actually wanted too, there are other ways to go about it without putting the troops at risk. Your blinded by your ideology and only care about Bush and Cheney and not the troops.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
Americans need to see those pictures so that they can truly recognize what happened (and still might be happening). When the people who committed the crimes did what they did they hurt all of America by cutting into the morals and beliefs we were built on, they are the ones who hurt our soldiers by their actions and created even more enemies. Pretending it never happened won't fix the damage it caused to our reputation and our ideals, but facing it and working to make sure it stops will
potatochipsunsalted 2 years ago 3
Releasing the pictures would do more harm than good. The terrorists will use it as propaganda tool to recruit more people. Those people who committed the crimes have already been tried and convicted. There is no point in releasing the photos at all. Also, u cant improve your relations in the Middle East lol. Have u read the Quran? It calls for the destruction of Christians and Jews and all who DO NOT convert to Islam. There is no negotiating with Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. They want us dead.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
actually, I have studied parts of the Quran for a class, and in the Quran, Christians and Jews are often called "The People of the Book", and the Quran tells Muslims to treat them and their religion with some respect and not to force them to convert. in fact there is a line that says that they should not convert by the sword. The only people that should be killed were those with many Gods (thats who they mean most of the time when the say Unbelievers), and lets face it,
potatochipsunsalted 2 years ago 2
The have many propaganda tool! to name a few are Israels oppression of the palestinian people, Our occupation of Iraq, and our continued support for these dictators in the mid east! These are there propaganda tools and the release of these pic will hardly make a militants more angry than they already are.
burcoman990 2 years ago
Saudi Arabia is one of our closet ally
burcoman990 2 years ago
The militants already have a recruiting tool and other sources of make em wanna kill US troops. When the pics come out, it will hardly make a diffrence. Its all about making the american ppl know about the crimes committed by the previous admin.
burcoman990 2 years ago
Exactly, why give them another recruiting tool too use? The Joint Chiefs, the Presidents national security advisers, and top officials at the Pentagon completely disagree with u on the fact that releasing the photos wouldnt make a difference. And these particular crimes have nothing to do with the previous admin lol. And that proves ur motives and agenda here. Your so concerned about Bush and Cheney and blinded by ur ideology that u completely disregard our brave troops.
CollegeLyfe23 2 years ago
Brave! lol! I was in the 10th mountain and what i saw was nothing but cowardness from my men! The enemy would attack and these kids would shoot in all directions! And the Afghans I was supposed to train were high on pot most of the time and these are the people we are supposed to empower these ppl to fight the militants?! Like i said before the release of these pics will do nothing for the taliban! it won't make them want to kill more troops when at this moment the already want too.
burcoman990 2 years ago
Continued. And these generals and Advisers have no idea whats happening on the ground, they think the understand the enemy but they really don't! They think they have the best intel on the taliban but its the exact opposite! This war can only be won through humanitarian aide and education; with these the msg of the Militants can be drown and unatractive. This is how we can win!
burcoman990 2 years ago

The United States isn't perfect and neither are Bush and Cheney, but the level hate they receive is unfair.
zii90 2 years ago
I personally believe that releasing those photographs would do great harm to our nation. Your claim of "blaming the evdence" really doesn't hold up against the attrocities of the opposition. That is what Mr. Cheney was trying to say. You don't seem to offer a solution that would be preferable. You are sucribed to Nancy Pelosi's channel even though the CIA had briefed her about the waterboarding. Even if we did waterboard individuals I still believe that our conditions are superior.
