I moved to Massachusetts from South Jersey 4 years ago and one thing I miss is the channel 6 news. No news team here (or anywhere else I'm sure) even comes close to the way these folks do it! Jim Gardner is as much a part of Philly as Billy Penn or the Phanatic.

As a life-long New Englander, I'd have to say that, in their day, the WCVB news team (with Chet Curtis and Natalie Jacobson) was comparable. However, nowadays, I'd have to agree with you. WCVB is probably the closest thing to a "family" news team, WHDH is the worst. Look at the clip "WHDH Meltdown", in which the 11:00 anchors have to deal with NO PLAYBACK whatsoever. Randy Price handles it like the seasoned pro he is, Christa Del Camp, on the other hand - deer in headlights.

You're right - no other station in the Philadelphia market has talent with such openly-shown chemistry between each other!

However, WPVI's talent has taken to such joking that their show has become less than professional - that's probably why it's such a good show!

Let's start with Rick Williams' bad puns, Jim Gardner allegedly farting on-air while Dave Roberts tries to do the weather (reference article in Philadelphia Magazine), and now this!
