    Paperalice

  • Dear Paper Alice,

My parents gave me a papermaking kit for Christmas and I absolutly love it! Thanks for the extras and cards you put in. I have made 17 sheets so far and can't wait to make more. Thanks for your help :)

  • To: TheCosmicChuck..Just to clarify, I do say that I grab an extra napkin, not steal one (they are actually made of paper) and I include one with my 12 x 12 kits because they are my favorite and I am fortunate to have the restaurant let me buy in bulk in the town where I live. :)

  • ladyhawk0053,

I am so glad that my video is helping you and others to see that even though Papermaking has been around for thousands of years, I can translate the ease of ripping up junk mail from the 21st century to make gorgeous pieces of paper just by adding something simple like spices, grass, leaves, flowers, or lint out of your drier! :D

  • Alice, I have watched quite a few paper making videos on here and yours is my favorite. I thank you for the excellent instruction and good video. I can't wait to try making some of my own! I'll definitely be checking out your website.

  • Thank you for the compliment on the video. The flower petals (Angel Wings) is my favorite dried flower to use because it creates so many different effects. I have them available on my website and I include them with the papermaking kits but potpourri or any dried or fresh flower is great to use. Dandelions are my personal favorite when they are available because of the gorgeous yellow and fiber it produces. :-)

    PA

  • Really good video, that helps to save trees. I think the point about getting flower petals from Thailand sort of goes against the grain of being environmentally friendly though.

  • amazing, you're a paper godess

  • Cool!

  • Hi Marzenabn, Thank you so much for such kind compliments!

You do not have to use glue but I do suggest to use some kind of paper with the newspaper because it has been recycled so many times that the fibers won't be as strong. You can use gift wrapping paper, a brown bag, or even a microwave popcorn bag...just don't use one with extra butter! :D

    PA

  • Alice, I don't have any envelopes. Do I have to add glue if I'm using just piece of newspaper?

Thank you for this video, you are a very good instructor. You speak clearly and with confidence.

    Great!!

  • Holy crap she is really tan

  • Hi, Jackie. With the Papermaking "pour" method I am using, you don't have to add any glue because the sizing is already in the sheet of paper or the envelope being used and you are just recreating another sheet. With the "dip" method you would have to make alot of pulp and add some kind of binding agent to keep it together.

    PA

  • Hi, I want to know if you have to add some glue to the mixture for paper making, or in which cases do you have to use it. Thank you.

  • Wow - thanks so much! I'm checking out your website now. :)

  • Only if I get to hand deliver! :-) I would really like to visit some day. What a great and fun trip that would be!

    P.A.

  • I live in India .............can i make the payment in rupees for your kit?

  • @papermaking21

oh k thank you so much ...and alice, you rock :)

  • @dhwani182

    and BLEND LOL LOL LOL!

    P. A.

  • it was awesome ....thanks a ton for posting this.

i have a few queries ...please spend 2 mins and reply:

What did you add after adding the flower?

Can i make a plain paper out of it?

if so, can i bind it and make a notebook or similar?

  • @dhwani182

Hello dhwani, thank you so much! I added the cover screen which comes in my kit to place on top to get rid of excess water and sponged to set the flower. You can make plain paper just by not adding all the "stuff" in the blender and absolutely, you can bind and sew and treat the paper just the same as you started. :-)

    "Paperalice"

  • @dhwani182

PS. I ship all over the world, if you would like to play and create too!! :D Paperalice

  • Awesome! I make my own journals and such and would love to make my own paper to put inside! Handmade paper is so expensive to buy..

  • @albertamom35

...And now you can make your own handmade paper for mere pennies!!

It truly is an easy, fun and fabulous... not to mention... quick process!

    PA

  • Very instructive and detailed. Thanks so much!

  • Awesome!! I draw, and I would like to start making my own paper. I would like to use cotton fibers... any suggestions?

  • @valleart

Hi, what a fabulous talent you have! You can use various cotton linters as well as cotton rag pulp. For a little color or texture you can use blue denim, gray wool, green, plum, and scrubbed corn husk. If interested in ordering you can e-mail me directly from the Paperalice site and I can give you more info such as how they come and price.

    Thanks so much!

    Paperalice

  • Hi Flippyprincess~Leaves are a little bit thicker so if you press them first they will adhere better in your paper. Using Cotton Linter or Abaca that I have available on my website will also help alot for they have thicker fibers to grab onto your items that you wish to add. Hoped that helped. :-) Paperalice

  • I make my own paper, but when I put the leaves and flower bits they fall out when the paper jets dry!!! what am I doing wrong!!!! Thx Flippyprincess

  • I wanna try!

  • I know this lady!!! Haha saw you at the Darke County Farm Power of the Past show!!

    Your Stefanie of Germany

  • Great Vedio!

  • I love chocolate mint! =D

  • beautiful! I so want to try this! <3

  • i would just like to ask if it is possible to use durian husk in making papers just like what you did with the envelope? i totally need it for our project and i need an immediate response!

Thanks for the video anyway! Proves that nothing is a junk with recycling!

  • @amtb2010

If the durian husk is like corn husk, you can put it in the blender and just make sure there is a plenty of water so the blades in the blender don't have to work so hard. If the husk is thicker and can't be ripped with our hands then soak it for a few minutes and then proceed.

    I hoped I have helped.

    Alison

  • pls send me the materials you used

  • @pebblepeggy

Do you mean the junk mail or the kit?

  • This was a great video, however, one envelope did not make a full sheet of paper when we tried.

  • she probably used all the junk mail inside the envelope as well....like credit card deals or watever was inside.

  • @tripleb94

Make sure that is a business size envelope with the smaller size kit. Otherwise, you will need 2 business size envelopes with the larger.

  • is the grid flexible?

  • ooooooo!! that is so pretty. are there substitutes for the drainer thingy and blotters that you can possibly find in your house?

  • This is a simply awesome and fantastic video, it was what I was looking for. I KNEW there way a way to make my own paper, and now I've seen it. I hate junk mail, but now I have a use for it. Alice, I've sent you a personal message regarding your video. Thanks for your very detailed video, I'm totally inspired! Thank you! DoveStar
