Well, not really. German troops never entered Algeria : they remained in Tunisia and Libya, since they had a much more urgent problem to deal with, i.e. the British VIIIth Army. So, practically, the guys of the Deutsche Afrika Korp didn't give a damn about what the furk was going on in Algeria. And when the Allies came in, the DAK were in a too bad, too weakened position to stop this.
Even with the sound down you can tell the American from the French by how they hold their cigarette. So the answer to the question is No. I am more American then he and I don't even smoke.
