  • @jesse5104 you need the "gay foot kick" to transfer your weght

  • I might listen to you about taking a slap, snap,or wrist shot if your shots didn't suck dick

  • his shots are awkward

  • thats wrong yo are supposed to point your feet at were you are shooting.

  • thats actually 100% wrong...

  • Wow dude, you don't really teach kids hockey techniques, do you? You have NO idea how to take a slap shot. Why is the puck leading your front foot? How do you expect to generate any power so far out in front of yourself? The puck should sit between your feet, preferably toward your back foot so you can transfer the shot from your back foot to your front foot. Also, bend your legs. Your center of balance should be in your hips, not your shoulders. What I'm trying to say is, you suck.

  • i cant get the puck up from ice. my slap shot glides on ice. can u help me plz?

  • @Jokerijamis I'd say it probably has something to do with the flex of the stick you're using. If you're not raising it, and trying to, your stick is probably too stiff. Try a stick with a little more flex and I think that might help you out. Thumbs up if you agree

  • that was an ok video but not all the time you do a full back swing and most the time its better to not do one

  • Everyone shoots differently. Stop thinking just because you can rag on one thing this guy does impresses anyone over the internet.

  • pucks to far to the side put it in between yer legs not past it

  • you are not even better than me! im 12 years old :D

  • suckk !!!!

  • Good video, but your not supposed to kick your leg up on a slap shot

  • Right, u dont need to lift that leg up...thats y u see the great majority of nhl players lifting their leg. Unless ur in the nhl, shut the fuck up. This dude is doing it right. Ive been playing in canada since i was six. They all taught it this way. So either ur right and the rest of the hockey world is wrong, or ur a moron.

  • @flames8889 The majority of NHL players dont lift their leg, and its all situational anyways. Who cares if you live in canada I guarentee you i could still outwork you on the ice any day of the week. Oh and PS: Most keep their leg down to keep stability incase the defender finishes the check on them. So you sir, can shut the fuck up

  • I see something wrong with this you don't want to point your stick at the goalie...

  • ur pretty shit lol

  • PROoo

  • You done take your stick back that high.

  • This motherfucker int got no helmet or what !?

  • your supposed to bring the stick up to your shoulder

  • The outfit is quite dashing i must say.

  • the puck is supose to be in the middle of your stance

  • weak shot..

  • @howtohockeydotcom yea that makes sense but wouldnt it be harder to kepp your balance, being on one leg? you guys should make a video on how to help balance your self while taking a slapshot

  • Your weight should shift from your back leg to your front leg. The forward momentum built when you shift your weight should anchor your one leg onto the ground long enough to regain balance.

  • No you most definitely don't want the puck on your back foot lol. Watch any NHL'er and they blast slap shots from out front of them...much easier as well.

  • To clear this up... Having the puck forward in your stance will give you options. Follow through high for a high shot, low for a low shot. If you have the puck a bit further back in your stance you can get more speed on the shot, but it almost always stays low. When you are learning start with the puck forwards in your stance.

Check out the slapshot video in my channel for more about this. My whole channel is dedicated to hockey tip videos, so feel free to subscribe

  • Dont put the puck at the front of ur stance, put it towards the bak for a harder shot

  • ive played hockey for 1 year and i know more abt a slap shot and have a way way way harder shot than that.

  • oh yeah well ive played hockey for 6 months and i know more abt a slap shot then you and have a way way way harder shot than that.

  • 1. stick doesnt go that high, in a game they would poke check easily 2. u dont need to lift back leg its stupid

  • gives you extra power, if you dont lift the leg you are not transferring your weight from back to front the back leg kicks naturally.

  • Lifting your back leg usually happes automatically if you properly transfer your weight. You would be surprised how much more speed you can get on your shot if you use the power from your legs and transfer that into the shot.

  • Ahhh I love these instructional videos that show horrible technique. I would love to see you have that much time in a game situation to wind up like its a 3 wood. The wind up should not go much farther then the waist. For good instructional videos check out Planet Hockey's videos on Youtube

  • you dont have to lift your leg like a puppy dog

  • Comment removed

  • Dude if your going to teach the world on how to slap then do it right. You have good results from bad a bad example. You will improve drastically from doing it right. Some of the threads say it right. Puck positioning stick length, power transfer using the power leg & toe off and you don't need to lift your leg......

  • Most of the power comes from you, the rest from the flex of the stick. I personally like 85 flex stick.

  • for a high slap hit the puck like 1 inch before ,, it wont be as powerful tho ,, for a low hard shot hit it like 6 inches before ,, try it!!

  • i dont believe you have the toe point thing right it is supposed to be pointing to where you want to be to aim because a slapper is not an accurate shot

  • nice mustard gloves

  • @AlexOvie8jr haha ikr GO OVIII!!!!!!

  • @ovie8forlife ghgvbihvihkvgvhvl

  • @AlexOvie8jr there ugly

  • If you don't hit the ice first, how are you supposed to flex the stick, which is where much of the power in a slap shot comes from?

  • midgets911: this isn't golf....if bring your stick down right on the puck then you're gonna get a terrible shot and you won't be able to flex the stick, bozo

  • 6 inches is too much about 2-3 inches is perfect

  • this is an ok video but 2 things i seen wrong were; you dont have to bring your stick up that high. about wast high is good enough. and also you dont have to do that gay foot kick.

  • the toe kick helps by shifting your weight better

  • @jesse5104 you say you dont have to do that^^^^

hes the one putting it top corner from the red line...

  • @sniperking913 ok "sniper" king. not a single one of those floppy slap shots was close to top corner. unless you divide the net into 4 parts. then yes, technically he put the puck in a corner.

  • @jesse5104

Actually, you do. If you want to transfer the weight correctly.

  • @jesse5104 and im sure ur just as good as him

  • @jesse5104 Neither things were wrong at all. Hes displaying how to do a correct slap shot with full power transfer. Not a half assed sissy slapper which you probably perform lol

  • my opinion is that in any sport the best way to be a good player is to teach your self.

btw hockeys the best sport anyway:)

  • now theirs a slap shot

  • uh ya the puck should be between ur feet in front of u. the way hes doing it with the big windup he wont get one off.

  • I agree about the wind up but, Not about where the puck should be. There is no way you can put the puck exactly where you want every single time when you're playing a game. It best to practice with the puck at your front foot, middle and, back foot cause some times you wont have enough time to get a shot off if you're too busy putting puck in the proper spot.

  • im impressed, he wes using such a small stick for his size

  • gloves? sick? yes!

  • you should have such a big wind up. someone will take the puck right off you. you can get just as much power with a lower wind up.

  • wrong!

  • keeper would have everyone of those

  • 6' is a bit much unless your in the NHL, 2-4" is enough to get a decent flex. The puck is also way too far ahead, I prefer it roughly between my legs

  • Awful.. Looks down at the puck, backswing is huge, puck is too far forward and your shot is slow...

  • With all do respect, I disagree with the position of the puck. Also, I don't believe the kick of the leg is necessary. I will be making a video on the slap shot quite soon. Check it out and tell me what you think, Thanks.

  • this sucks.

  • oh yeah ur great i can do a slapshot better than u and u want it more in between ur legs

  • lets see you do one then

  • yea thats help full and everything but. the puck should be more in between youlegs rather that behond your left foot.

  • thx this helped me

  • awesome you do it well

  • fuck you this helps me alot bitch!

  • stop dissing people.. probly cant even skate s stfu, and power coems from YOU dumbasses

  • wow...

  • wow u suck.your not supposed to swing your leg around. that is weak weight transfer as well

  • he has such a clean shot =)

  • hey genius at 1:15 he was just showing how to do a slapshot

  • that guy cant shoot worth shit, dont take his adivice. his shots arent even hard.

  • at 1:15 his shot missed everything you can hear it crash against the boards! nice video, where is #1 - #54? :)

  • thanks

  • im 14 and i can do a better slapshot then him..

  • bull shit if you want to see a nice slap shot cheque out 12 guage slap shot and ur gay

  • im 14 too how fast is yours?

  • I think is better to have the puck beetwen the to almost exatly the both foot, or is it wrong?

  • between but near the back foot!

but during a actual game its hard to get the perfect set up

  • that's very nice, but how come you didn't explain how to properly use your legs to drive thru the shot.

  • if you want to see a crazzy slap shot cheque out 12 guage slap shot

  • you dont swing all the way like this guy. go to about your waist.

  • yeah he's an idiot!

the angle he has the blade at is goofy too!

    too much lost energy!

  • puck has to be bay the back foot

dont swing that high & use your hips in during the floow through !

do that & you'll be ok

  • "by " "follow" sorry mistakes

  • he's putting the puck too far ahead

  • you suck!

you had to skate like 10 feet before hitting the puck

& there wasnt even any power to it

  • IF you have to skate 10 ft before hitting th puck just to gain **SOME** power

you're not that great of a shooter

  • To much swing, the other team will take away the puck from you if you shoot like that.

    Terrible teacher

  • Is there a free video somewhere of Scott Bjugstad?

  • If anyone wants advice on how to shoot, google search Scott Bjugstad becoming a more consistant goal scorer. Its about a 25 minute video that will teach you everything you could want to know on shooting. He played with Gretzky in LA and was in the league for 14 years. Get some real advice from a guy who actually knows what the hell he is talking about.

  • put the puck behind for more power into your shot, put your weight on the stick

  • yEA WAY TO BIG OF A BACK SWING

  • I guess this video is a start, even though the back swing makes the shot take too long and look obvious

  • i agree!

    so i'll give u a thumbs up

  • too big of a back swing

  • If you have a composite stick , lift the leg nearest the stick . that way you get mor power in the shot

  • Nice video !

  • NICE!!!

im playing atom A and im pwning everyone with my slapshots now!!!

  • i think your stick is to short

  • Puck by the back foot follow through

thats all you have to know

    everyone is different

  • that was pretty helpful. your stick can only make make a difference if the flex is different. the more flex the more your stick will bend, thats why you hit the ice first to make it bend, and when it hits the puck the stick bounces back to its original position. to get more contact put it a LITTLE bit closer to your center, but your toe is good.

  • slashfan5611 ur dumb...

anywhere my stick is when i shoot comes out to the same shot except the position of the puck will determine if it goes higher or lower

  • is ur shot hard depending on the stick or u ....

  • sometimes stick

but if you get an old koho it still works i have a mean slapshot just i dont get over the net with it

  • no need for back leg kick.

  • i just buy 200 dollar sticks and then my slapshot is usually 200mph :D

  • 200mph is imposible......... numb nuts

  • i believe it was called 'sarcasm'....

  • When you start off, the stick should go no higher than your shoulders.

    Makes for a *quicker* shot.

  • Between the legs buddy not 2 feet in front of ya!

puck supposed to be * between*, or closer to the back skate!

  • you get more air if its in front of ya

  • i could do a slapshot way quicker then that

  • ur not supposed to lift the stick up dat much

  • nice slapshots

  • I didn't know hockey players were such drama queens. I made this video about 2 years ago. And I just saw it here. Thanks for the laughs from your comments. Adam has it all right, this video will do nothing for you if you're not already working hard yourself. There are about 100 ways to take a slapshot, this just happens to be one of them. I don't claim to be Pronger, just relax and take it for what its worth. I put out a challenge to the 14 yr. old! I'll bet you your piggy bank!

  • Lol, and if all else fails, get someone to help you at a back rink somewere..

    that alot better..

  • Were'd you get your gloves?

  • Honestly just go out to the ice and pratice, watching vids like this won't help you because that's what works for them, you need what works for you to shoot hard and well,, also high isn't always good, defencemen should shoot low for the easy tip..

  • so true !

everyone wil tell u something different!

  • This guy doesnt know anything about hockey. If u put the puck at your front foot then shoot, its more likely to go high. If u put it in your back foot its more likely to go low and hard

  • yeah i thought he was a little off too

its supposed to be in between ur legs

    thats the powerzone! lol

plus i find wood sticks enhance power

  • yeah its ment to between ur leg thats how I was taught lol

  • Honestly all I hear is mubble mubble mubble

  • like pronger

  • lmao u dont need to put ur leg up.. it sorta just comes to u.. many players take SS's with both legs on the ice..

  • great vid. v. helpful. that was really accurate, hittin' the net with a slapshot from that far out! thankss!

  • Kicking the back leg is kind of your own choice.. I do kick it a little, it's just feels better, but it's just how have you learned to do the slapshot.. I'm trying to stop kicking only because it looks a bit stupid when you do it all the time, but for some people, kicking may actually help getting more power to the shot. it only depends on how have you learned it, and how have you used to do the shot

  • he dont know how to shoot y the fuck is he kicking the back leg you dont need to. and if you want a more powerfull shot have the puck between your legs but in front of you. it'll be alot harder

  • weight transfer. it's like a pitcher in baseball. he kicks his leg out to transfer weight to where the momentum needs to be.

  • good vid but wuts the piont of kicking the back leg?

  • This guy shows you how to take high sticking penalties... I used to wind up liek that and always got called by the bullshit refs. Try to only wind about half as much as he does. IF your strong enough you should get the same amount of power.

  • i had the same problem. now i only go to about my hips and have one of the hardest shots on my team!!

  • is it wrong if you dont kick off theback leg? cuz i never did it like that

  • wow he's good lol

  • Nà c po bon sa ,, le peuk (palais) doit etre entre ses jambres !!! mdrr

  • im 14 years old and my slapshot is better than him and i dont do all the stuff he said

  • Good video, especially because it breaks it down and explains the momvment. I'm just learning (didn't grow up with hockey) and I can see several things that I definitely do wrong. Next training I will try that. :)

  • yeah this will my shot a lot; i wont break sticks as often either

  • CCM vector

  • WTF?

  • I'm a lefty, not politically, but on ice. I find that my shot has more power when I get a tight grip on the lower part of the stick.

  • The best hockey stick for me was the Sherwood Ray Bourque. I can't find any anymore!! Anyone knows where?

  • internet

  • WTF ? Its not on front foot ! Stupid england.

  • um. not a great instructional vid but alright concept i guess. i had an 80mph slap shot that i coulp place from the blue line when i was 15 so...

  • shut up...lol

  • im just sayin that if really wants to hold his stick that way when he takes his slap shots he is losing a ton of power in the flex of the stick. his power hand needs to be further down.i went theough 8 graphite shafts my second pewee season cuase of it.

  • you take a slap shot with your back down then! when the back foot rises thats the transition of weight hence puttin your body weight in the shot makin it a harder shot.... and most NHL players use this technique and so do i...... love your gloves btw dude haha :P

  • thanx i will remember dis in practice i don't lift foot though but i try it

  • Why would i want to lift my foot up?

  • dont lift up your foot

  • if you lift your leg up you have more chhances of falling then when you drag it

  • 1 of the best slapshot vids ive seen on youtube

  • synergy sl is the best for slappers.

  • this guy shouldnt be telling people how to shoot a slapshot, he has the worst technique and his shoots are so slow, i pass harder then that, and i cant forget that maybe he should get a stick that is longer, a 5 year old can play with that

  • why don't you post your slap shot then?

  • then you shouldnt be watching this video

    asshole

  • then you shouldnt be wathcing this vid

    asshole

  • If u take a slapshot u want to make contact with the puck in the middle of the blade. you dont want to hit the puck with the tip cause that will just break ur blade. all u have to do is move the puck further ahead in your stance to elevate the puck.

  • wood sticks have way better feel but composite last a lot longer but wood are also that much cheaper too so its more of wut u like the feel of than anything

  • compostie sticks are more durable,

BUT they give shock after contact with the puck

i like the sherwood actually wood sticks!

    i keep it old skool!

  • is he using a stealth with a wood blade?

  • thats not a stealth its an easton synergey i have the same stick

  • since when is a synergy red? didnt think so.

  • since they made it in red ass. u fuckin idiot u act like u know sumtin about hockey but u suck at hockey. i have 1 in red and almost my whole team does u fuckin sped ur soo dumb. u commented thisd vid like 8 times stop commentin ppl no one likes u fuckin go kill ur self or masterbate 2 ur mom or eat ur dad out pussy.

  • wish death on someone? you fucking cunt bitch you better hope to god i never find out who you are cause i will beat the fucking tar out your little bitch ass

  • i dont fuckin care if u know who i am or wat not. idc ill beat the fuck out of u pussy. ur like fuckin 10 ill fuck u up lefty u fuckin cunt ass little cock suckin pussy. i swear if i ever find u ill beat the fuck out of u so0o0o0o hard ur mom will feel it. and ur dad will feel it in his pussyyy.

  • cute. i like your vids you still gotta hit puberty before you can say those words. your parents still gotta buy your paintballs for you? have a long life man. i bet it will be more painful for you to be lonely than anything else. i bet you have lots of friends. nope you are the kid that always lets the team down
