If you really think hard about it, rape/violence is what we repeatedly try to ignore in the world, and continue to try to look past. This movie does not show rape to show it as plain entertainment as some movies may, but as a disgusting, heartless thing, viewed in a realistic way that shows it's true evilness. We may see the world as a terrible place to an extent, and later as a wonderful place. But in the end, it is a vicious cycle that can not be stopped no matter how hard we may try.

Actually, I think the rapes in ACO are shown as rather light and entertaining through Alex's perspective. It's up to us to see the immorality in them because they are without the dramatic and emotion-evoking theatrical effects that rape scenes in other films employ.
