We must not dwell on such issues such as the Armenian Genocide or the Holocaust, but instead keep an eye on Turkey to make sure that they don't do something or encourage hate to other nations ever again!
If it seem like they're trying to influence other nations, run and get help immediately! That goes for Iran and Israel as well!

Armenians are very old nationality who survived horrible masscres and tortures. Because of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenians are 8-10 millions all around the world, rather than 50 millions if the Genocide didn't happen from 1915-1923. Thus more than 1.5 millions were barbarically killed. The remnants of the orphans who survived the Genocide are scattered all over the world. One of them is myself, the daughter of a survivor who was orphaned in 1915. For 95 years we haven't had closure yet.
What a setting Arrarat , an ancient temple. If only americans had a unifying sprit like the Armenians . We would rule the world. Barev Hingar to all Armenians.
angelic voice great song great performance - this particular rendition with the haunting duduk ensemble absolute ARMENIAN magic. Isabel sounds as great as when I heard her live in London. Pity about the annoying and completely out of place eastern/western Armenian "debate". Also, Isabel please note, Zvartnots is NOT a pagan temple or as old as you think by Armenian standards (i.e. pre Christian). It's in fact a Christian temple from, I think from, 7th century.
@bagraduni I must tell you that Zvartnots is indeed a pagan temple, there is also an ancient winery and a sun clock and in the area, everyone knows it's pagan temple everything indicates that.It was just rebuilt during christian times, and then became ruined during the earthquake ....
The ruins of Zvartnots are of an Armenian church built during the 7th century, not a pagan temple (although excavations do indicate that it may have been built on the platform of one).
dle yaman or LE LE YAMAN what ever it is ,it makes me cry each time i listen to it ...it makes me to be proud of being ARMENIAN and it helps me to save IT.
Once and for all. There are only two manuscripts of Le Le Yaman written by hand by Gomidas, today still kept at the Charents Museum in Yerevan. The title for both is
LE LE YAMAN.
Dle Yaman is simply the turkified title of the song and it is definitely not authentic; plain and simple and it is wrong.
armanys2003, You are completely wrong and your statement is arrogant, to say the least. It is Komitas for Eastern-Armenian speakers and Gomidas for Western-Armenian speakers. And since Gomidas was Western-Armenian (born in Keutahia) this pronounciation sounds even more authentic. Get your facts straight next time.
This is not an arrogant statement. I go based on correct Armenian spelling of the name! if you start talking about the differences of pronunciations of western and eastern Armenian I will remind you... in almost ALL languages the first letters of the alphabet are A B G D. just because westerners pronounce those Armenian letters P' Q' T' it doesn't mean that's the correct pronunciation. It's their DIALECT. When the Armenian letters where being made they were made to match the actual sounds.
once again armanys you got it wrong. First of all, no one is disputing the correct spelling: Կոմիտաս. What you mean is transliteration. Transliteration ESPECIALLY of song lyrics should be entirely based on pronunciation. Since Western pronunciation is as valid as Eastern pronunciation, and especially as both Gomidas and Bayrakdarian sang and sing it in the Western pronunciation, hence the transliteration which sounds like Western Armenian.
Your argument has no validity and if you are a Hayastantsi please be careful about what you say about spelling because Soviet Armenians about 80 years ago, RUINED the language by "creating" a spelling which had NOTHING to do with the one established by Mesrob and practiced for more than 1500 years and thankfully still practiced by Western Armenians today.
@zarmanazan Example: Check out Greek, Arabic, Russian, English.. the 4/5th letter is 'D' so is in Armenian. Unless Mesrop was high on something I reallty don't see why would the frourth letter of Armenian arlphabet phonetically be pronounced anything but D.
@zarmanazan Additinally as aperson who speaks 5 languages fluently and has general understanding of couple of more let me tell you Western Armenian that you here nowdays is almost like a literal translation of Arabic. As far as it goes to phonetics- check out my previous comment. After saying this all I won't deny that I really like how western armenian sounds (and I can speak it if needed)
Myself being fluent in 7 languages, I'm glad I'm in good company. Once again the transliteration entirely depends on the interpreter of the song, the author of the song etc. For example If for most Arabs the letter "j" is like the sound "g" in French "rouge" , for some it is "j" as in John and for Egyptians it is "G" as in "gamble".
That said, if I'm transliterating an Egyptian song by Um Kalthoom or Atrache for example I would use this last spelling and not the "j" sound as in the "g" in French even if for many Arabs, that's the acceptable one..
Again the transliteration Gomidas is as correct as Komitas, if not more,. Why? Because Gomidas was Western Armenian.
In regards to the A-B-C-D order, there is some truth in that (even though I don't see how the Armenian alphabet has its roots in the Greek, Arabic or Latin?. BUT most important , is the way it was pronounced by the dialect of the region the song came from, or the composer came from, or the singer.
. This point is superior to the assumptions about the A-B-C-D. I for one , would never want my name-last name to be transliterated the way an Eastern Armenian would pronounce. I would want it transliterated the way I want others to pronounce it.
@zarmanazan It's not about a superior assumption. It's just assuming the Mr Mesrop would put the letters in the same order according to their phonetics. So Lets say the name. Take the name Պետրոս (lets say it's your name). An average Easter Armenian speaker will say "Petros". so if you want your name pronoucned Bedros write it Բեդրոս.
@zarmanazan And Again I don't want anybody taking this personally. My 'native' Armenian is Eastern Armenian. My spoken native is "Yerevani" accent. If you want to hear proper Eastern Armenian its on national television news. I am sure you will notice the difference between that and what's spoken on the streets. So you can say and speak all you want but claiming that yours is correct is just wrong.
Let's go back to your initial statement 3 months ago, that started this discussion "It's Komitas not Gomidas. That's how it's been and it is pronounced " Now who was " saying and speaking all you want but claiming that yours is correct is just wrong" ? I never claimed Eastern Armenian pronunciation is wrong. It's you who claimed that the Western Armenian pronunciation is wrong!
Once and for all I say that Gomidas and Komitas are equally right (unlike you). And the only reason I say Gomidas is bit more authentic , is because he spoke in the Western Armenian dialect and he was from Western Armenia. And besides if my name is Պետրոս I will always pronounce it Bedros because that is how it sounds in my dialect.
But may I remind you that the real damage to our language came from Soviet Armenians who massacred the 1500 year old Mesrobian spelling. So before you become so picky and right-wrong about the transliteration feel sorry about the catastrophe which was brought upon the Armenian Mesrobian authentic spelling , and still damages the future generations, in the same school and university you studied in. That's the real shame. Not your vague theories about transliteration.
You have all the rights to voice your opinion but when you claim that Western Armenian pronunciation is wrong you simply insult almost 50% of the Armenian population worldwide. I just hope you don't repeat the same mistake, that's all.
@zarmanazan of course, no one has the right to tell that the western armenian is wrong, there are a lot of foreign words in eastern armenian, but western has not many derivations, we should keep it, it is a great language and we should be proud of those armenians that have kept it and speek now in diaspora, this way they have armenian identity with them, think armenian, speak armenian. that's great. Bravo to all of them :)
@zarmanazan What bothers me most is people writing the way they speak in official places like TV, Books, Papers Ads.--- I've been studying Armenian 10 years in the school and then 2 years in the university, I've read more books than most of people around. I think I've deserved the right to voice my opinion on my monther language and also have an opinion of what's right and what's wrong. :)
Arrogance + ignorance are your first and second names. it's a sign of arrogance/ignorance to attack someone's personality in a dispute over smth like this.
You felt it necessary to assault our senses with your ignorant declarative, hyper inflated juvenile emotional outburst of anger at this womans impeccable conformance to Gomidass original transcript, a subject you clearly know nothing about and youre telling me Im the one attacking you? I called you on your juvenile outburst thats all- Ill add lack of self awareness to your traits.
BostomEM- Ill add arrogance to your ignorance. Again the ORIGINAL ARMENIAN TRANSCRIPT of the lullaby states unequivocally Lele NOT Dele.
Whether or not the Turks use it is beside the point. That does not bolster your claim. It would not be the first time that theyve appropriate Armenian expressions or culture for that matter. I stand by what I said.
Just blissful. The duduks are really something, i love their timbre. Never really heard of them before, i'll try and include them when im using composing software cus they are beautiful.
Elegant decor..nice and very sweat voice..her voice make me good and healthy.she is a relative of my father..thank you.nice mission for future generation.
newvegasmax thank u for the lyrics. guys i dare brag about attending the same school with Isabel Bayrakdarian (Azkayin Balkjian Varjaran ZAHLE-Lebanon) I recall her mother was our music teacher, a very talented one. no wonder her daughter has such a great voice.
Armenian: Dle Yaman, Mer tun, Dzer tun dimac, dimac Dle Yaman, Heriq anes achqov imac Yaman Yaman Yar Dle Yaman, Heriq anes achoqov imac Yaman Yman Yar Dle Yaman, Arev dipav Masis sarin, Dle Yaman, Karot mnaci es im yarin, Yaman Yaman Yar Dle Yaman, Karot mnaci es im yarin, Yaman Yaman Yar
The instruments are called duduks. This song pierces the very fibres of my soul. How much pain and suffering of this proud and ancient nation can you hear in her amazing voice.
What are the instruments doing the accompaniment to this wonderful piece? I am especially curious as to which one is playing the instrumental melodies throughout (something other than the drone*); but I would like to know what they all are if anyone out there happens to know =P. Thanks!
I saw you singing this on TV and my heart wept. The suffering is so evident in that beautiful aria and your perfect voice makes it come alive for me. Your voice is so beautiful it makes me feel at peace. May God bless you and your husband (to be) and to that beautiful aria sung from your soul.
Armanıans are allways our brothers,ı am kurdısh,we lıved together many many ceuntrys, also we related with armenians,ı wish every human being lives together in brotherhood, death to emperialism
The man that wrote this song is Komitas Vardapet and his real name is Sogomon Gevorki Sogomonyan. He was one of the most wonderful artists that was raised in Anatolia.
Zvartnots is a church, built outside the traditional Armenian archetecture of churches....after it was built, it was decided to maintain the unique Armenian architecture of building churches, where the foundation is based on cross.
Yes yeghel em Zvartnotsum praktikayi zhamanak,u ayntegh mer tvarkutyunits arajva shinutyunner kan, ginu gortsaran, arevi zhamatsuyts...Yes hamozvats em vor da hetanosakan tachar e.
boys hear the music..it doesnt have a country ... did you all chosen your countries by ur selves that you are all proad of your place of birth?? be proad of what you have gain in your life time by your selves... and here the music!!!!
nice duduk ! very nice voice, it reflects the sorrow for not only the Armenians but maybe for the Turks in that region. I hope to see more musicians of both nations performing together.
Its time to give the Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks a voice! Time to reconise the Armenian Genocide, like the grown-ups that we are.
No more running away like scared little children!

Arrogance + ignorance are your first and second names. it's a sign of arrogance/ignorance to attack someone's personality in a dispute over smth like this.
BostonEm 2 years ago
You felt it necessary to assault our senses with your ignorant declarative, hyper inflated juvenile emotional outburst of anger at this womans impeccable conformance to Gomidass original transcript, a subject you clearly know nothing about and youre telling me Im the one attacking you? I called you on your juvenile outburst thats all- Ill add lack of self awareness to your traits.

I would say you won. You are clearly more intelligent than the other guy. At least you write a lot better, ha. Just thought I would add my two cents.

this is not LELE aman, but DLE aman!!! that makes me angry. her performance is good, though.
BostonEm 2 years ago
Actually you are dead wrong. It IS LeLe according to the original manuscript not Dele.
Please spare the rest of us who know better your ignorant declarations of contempt.
rs94131 2 years ago
rs94131, I think that ignorant is what you wrote - LeLe Aman is the Turkish/Kurdish version, whereas Armenians have always used the D'le Aman form.
Anyways, let's stay away from individualizing our dispute over a particular fact.
BostonEm 2 years ago
BostomEM- Ill add arrogance to your ignorance. Again the ORIGINAL ARMENIAN TRANSCRIPT of the lullaby states unequivocally Lele NOT Dele.
Whether or not the Turks use it is beside the point. That does not bolster your claim. It would not be the first time that theyve appropriate Armenian expressions or culture for that matter. I stand by what I said.
rs94131 2 years ago
Doesn't the original manuscript also say "VANA DZOVIN" instead of "MASIS SARIN?"
Why did they change it to MASIS SARIN?

Zvartnots was a 7th century church, not a pagan temple, just to make a minor correction.

The instruments are called duduks. This song pierces the very fibres of my soul. How much pain and suffering of this proud and ancient nation can you hear in her amazing voice.
dextercom 3 years ago 6
What are the instruments doing the accompaniment to this wonderful piece? I am especially curious as to which one is playing the instrumental melodies throughout (something other than the drone*); but I would like to know what they all are if anyone out there happens to know =P. Thanks!

What is the name of the place/ancient church where she is singing the song? It is also in Zara's filmclip of the same name?
EsfahanKellie 3 years ago
This is Zvartnots - ancient cathedral which translates as "heavenly angel". It's located near Etchmiadzi, Armenia's main religious centre.

Zvartnots is a church, built outside the traditional Armenian archetecture of churches....after it was built, it was decided to maintain the unique Armenian architecture of building churches, where the foundation is based on cross.
