Although I'm extremely anti Zionism, I have to say I absolutely loved this song before I even read the translation. I'm a Lebanese Muslim from the Galilee in Lebanon, there are some Middle Eastern Jews that have my surname. I believe that parts of this song are sung in Hebrew & Aramaic & it only saddens me that due to Zionism, I'll never have the chance to truly know my Middle Eastern Hebrew cousins as my grandparents & ancestors did. ME Jews, Christian & Muslim Arabs were 1 hand. Thnks Zionism
@cosmosxx : thank you very much, i read it... the song is amazing and the lyrics are a bit strange but something like getting me sad for life...!.. i love it..:) thank u once again..
alla fiera dell'est per due soldi mio padre comprò e venne il gatto che si mangiò il topo che al mercato mio padre comprò.. bellissima canzone di angelo branduardi..,. =)
is the Arabic version of Italian song''East'at the fair'' .. The words are: the exhibition of the East, for two cents, my father bought a mouse. and then more ..
This is a film that each new time I watch it I pick up something more. I found the performances very good. :) Oh and yes, this scene seems to stick out for most--and the song is beautiful.
@spanellaful The Entire Movie is a Metaphor for the Israel/Palestine Conflict. Portman =America, Hiam Abbass=Palestine and Hanna Laslo= Israel. When Stuff Happens between Israel and Palestine America get's in the Middle and then sort of Runs away. As Israel and Palestine continue to Argue.
@xenafan234 beautiful! you're really smart. :) also their personalities reflect the personalities of the three countries. and the opening/ closing song (had gadia) is the theme for the movie
@MegaStarlight123 I agree..she is a brilliant actress..I didn't know of this film from Amos Gitai..It is a good surprise that she worked with him..I will watch this today.

One little lamb, one little lamb,
Which my father bought for two shekels.
One little lamb, one little lamb,
The water came, and extinguished the fire,
that burned the stick, that beat the dog,
that bit the cat, that ate the lamb.
