Uhmmm random orbit people. Never sand in a straight line. your makin trenches. No need ever to use wet sanding. Polish to white scotch bright( 4200 grit. then use polish. Then don't forget not to breath csuse your breath will scratch it. LMAO
you can get a scratch by hand sanding but you will never get it blended in perfectly, you will def. need an orbital sander, For lighter colors all you need is 100 micron and a red scotch brite pad, for darker colors use 100 micron then 60 micron then red scotch brite then a grey scotch brite. and deep scratches you will need to start with 120. you NEVER have to wet anything, its an plastic not a stone. thats why the sand paper gumed up. im not saying anything bad bout you, just sharing info
I had some scratches on my corian countertop, i used 400-grid sandpaper, abrasive cloth and electric sander. Time and patience, circular motions and job was done.
dont let the jerks get you down Tim, none of them cared enough to make a video trying to help people, but they are more then happy to make comments....besides im sure they are not as studly as you.....keep on rockin, Sand Master!
I would start with something lighter if possible, say a 60 micron on an orbital sander with a random action, not a rotary. Then go to 150 if the 60 mic isn't strong enough. If the 150 can't get it, go to 60. The process is 60, 150, 60 micron, then a wet-sanding process with a 12" buffer with a maroon scotchbrite pad WET. Make sure it is wet, or it will just scratch it up. For darker colors, I use a green trizact before the scotchbrite, then the maroon, then I finish with a grey scotchbrite.
I install solid surface for a living and the little sand pads in corians care kit are useless. You should always use an orbital sander. I would start out with a 180 grit paper to get the scratch out, then over lap that area with 240, and finally using a scotch brite pad to buff it out. For a really deep scratch, consult a professional, like myself :D

never use fingers, if you dont have a sander, use a sanding block. If you only have small scratches try a spray called counter top magic

i was told that scotch brite pads were bad for corian and they scratch more, true?

Great information. Thanks for helping me learning something new today. The scratching noise was really cool when you were sanding.
