  • I thought the video is about haunted houses and ghosts.

  • is this a joke??? it looks like a good football play!

  • An example of how cities shoot themselves in the foot AND rob TAXPAYERS that don't even live in the City. A city hear passed ordinances with MINIMUM house size, maximum stories and Minimum open area, there were several occupied houses in the city if the house was torn down could not rebuild, a minimum size house at 2 allowed floors would cover to much of the lot. the houses can't be rebuilt and & only sold for cash,no one will loan money on them. The county tears 'em down when they are taxdeed$

  • Man houses in the US are so shit, an abandoned house in the UK will stand strong for more than 200 years

  • Of course the city doesn't admit sometimes THEY are the reason the house is not maintained and eventually becomes an eyesore or dangerous. Cites do this by passing laws and ordinances the prevent homes form being up dated or rebuilt because lot sizes are to small. It is called a nonconforming use, can't get a loan on it can't rebuild it, can't bring it up to standards, eventually the taxpayers get stuck with removing them.

  • @fk4515

    You are soooo right.

Municipalities tie owner's hands behind their backs by over-regulating renovations & excessive fees & inspections. It just drives owners to "stealth operations" or, more often, like you said, to abandonment. I personally know several property owners who've been caught up in the bureaucratic nightmare & given up. Criminal stupidity on the part of politicians & bureacrats.

  • How does this compare the charles manson & Ted Bundy ??? Shitt !!!

  • Never did she just use Monopoly >.<

  • @ 1:52 is that a giant spider or am i holucinating ( I KNOW ITS NOT SPELLED RIGHT WHO CARES L O L )

  • @SGamerRPG its his microphone

  • 0:36 it when she put the big red cross over the little blue house that i really got it...that's some quality journalism

  • what is it with the USA and abandoned, derelict h ouses?? I mean, in canada here, we have empty houses out in the country awaiting restoration or demolition, but in residential areas? totally uncommon a few here, but nothing like what I see in the states. every time i turn on the tv theres another abandoned house in buffalo that's burned down or the city is going to demo it. hasnt most of buffalo burned by now? lol

  • lmao wuz she playing monopoly

  • Are you fucking kidding me? In my city if a hous eis abandoned more then a few years It's demo'd... It's no big hassel to the city I'm in. >:l

  • That's why I live where there are very few house condition laws and to keep a mess away I have laminate EVERYWHERE!

  • What business is it of a city to destroy someone else's property unless they have not paid taxes? These citys have made it impossible for the average home owner to do much work himself so I am happy to see all the thorns stuck in the citys side we can possibly find. I liked their complaint about gutters, we don't have them on a single one of our rentals and I have no idea why anyone would want a maintance mess like that on a nice house to start with!

  • wait but if theyre abandoned how are they going to notify the owner? Most of those houses dont llook like thevye been lived in in decades..

  • wha thave you ever been in Detroit? lol you have no clue really stop this news

  • hey its the local crack head house

  • This is absolutely foolish and stupid as hell, mother nature will do the job for free and without a single bit of fuss, meetings, rigamaroo, etc. Further, with hundreds of thousands of people homeless, tearing down abandoned houses is absolutely obscene. People should give these homes to kids just starting out, or people who have none at all, to fix up and repair.

  • What they aren't telling you is that if the owner don't pay the bill, the city takes possesion of the property. Then they resell the property by way of public auction and almost always sell them for more than the cost.

  • yes please burn it

  • I'm always amazed at how many houses in the US are build of wood.... why not use bricks and stone?

  • @jonewer i think the main reason is because of the massive population growth in a short time.

Building houses of wood are strong enough to live in and dont cost as much as building a house of bricks.

  • @Thys93 Are you from the Netherlands?

  • Ed Gein's house

  • wat was with the monopoly reference?

  • Would the city's fire department be a little slow to respond if one of the vandals tripped over a lit candle inside? One never knows.

  • This fat fuck needs a heart attack already

  • The process is a bit different here in Canada. An owner can be charged under the "Unsightly Premises Act" for having a dilapidated building on their property, so for that reason abandoned buildings rarely stand for very long, at least in populated areas. Another thing is that owners, or the city, can demo a building anytime they want - legally they need a permit just like in the US, but here those laws are almost never enforced. Personally though I think most old buildings should be preserved.

  • ahh cmon monopoly xD

  • get used to it folks will be more like this

  • i have a friend who lives in a nice neighborhood , she is the ONLY person there to make the block look HORRIBLE ! she has 13 cats , she hangs cloths in the gates to dry has boxes and boxes of trash in her porch . cats do their nessesities outside and SMELLS ! UNBEARABLE GROSS . i wonder why no one has reported her ! she looks like she can live in the MOUNTAINS BETTER

  • Shit they'd best knock down the house I live in then!! I'ts full of BLACK SMLIMY MOLD and falling to pieces!!

  • Comment removed

  • lol........no she didnt dumbass

  • Well, me too... but if a house is seriously unsafe (where you can fall right through stairs and stuff) it's probably better they knock them down.

  • yeah we have a house like that near were i live, this house is a two story but teens have been going through it and one girl broke both her legs i heard cause she fell through the stairs and under those stairs was no wood. 0_0 thats a rumar i heard from the city here

  • this resport is so republican it aint funny- its all about trying to get rid of the red tape and destroy what evers in the way and is old. there MUST be more focus in USA on HISTORIC PRESERVATION- and RESTORATION- if there are laws on what is historic or monumentally protected, things like this cannot happen. WE in USA need to be more selfish like other countries in the world and not so involved in countries who are rich in oil, because the WORLD bankers who own and control USA, are so greedy

  • I wish they'd restore old houses and sell them. I don't understand how there could be abandoned houses all over the place and we still build more...

  • Well, I'm moving to Topeka in the next year. I plan to do my part and do just what you said. There are many homes on the mls that need renovation. I like those houses more than new ones. I plan to buy, renovate, rent some out and sell others. I sure hope the economy picks up there. At least I can save a few houses and turn them into nice first homes for young couples.

  • keep dreaming on that...you go put all that money into a place...never-mind the sweat n busted knuckles, then rent it out and in a year or less go back and do it all over again because that nice young couple with what looked like a perfect rental history just trashed your dream. Thats the really sad truth of what happens to too many kind hearted owners. Be very carefull

  • While we keep paying for Wars and illegal arms trades our nation is falling into ruin!

  • exactly, we should spend our money on our own country and our own historic preservation should be the first thing on the list since its been the last for decades, as well as health care, education, and public transportation. 3 trillion for a war for oil under false pretences and on an illegal foundation. imagine thats our college education and future homes

  • its depressing that this happens and what if they are livable ,would they allow people to live in them ,if people dsont pay on them they should be sold to people who need homes!

  • This isn't about back taxes. There are hundreds of homes (and properties) sold at tax sales every year. This series is about dilapidated homes/buildings which would cost more to fix up then they are worth (ie: cheaper to build new, then to fix up).

It is a shame that their owners let them get that bad. Just look at the 1st home in this video, it's about to fall down, there is no way it is going to be fixed cost effectively.

  • they just burn houses down where i live, just get the fire department to come and keep it under control. they just burnt down a 150 or more year old farm house where i live, i always thought it was haunted

  • that used to be an option, but I think it's the EPA, has put a stop to that, in the last 10 years or so, because of the "environmental" impact.

When it is allowed, they have to follow strict guidelines, that makes them unrealistic practice houses. Plus the cost to meet those guidelines would highly escalate.

1st - have to remove all shingles/oil based products (not counting paint)

2md - make sure there is no asbestos products inside the structure.

Then it might be"environmentally safe" to burn.

  • i hate these asshole news reporters they dont have a soul

  • THANK YOU!!!!!
