No, it was not a "mine" it was a simple, small 20 kiliton device, the 4th a-bomb ever set off. It's about the same yield (explosive power) as the Hiroshima device but a different design. It was set off 180 feet underwater as a test of the effectivness of A bombs on naval vessels.

The results were disapointing. Of 180 ships in the traget zone, only a few were sunk, many of those days later from leaks..

The most amazing part of that is the effect on the battleship Arkansas. She's on the right side of the blast column. Notice about 2 seconds after the blast as she becomes visible, she is standing vertical. The water is 180ft deep, she's over 500 ft long. Most of the ships survived the blast but were so radioactive that they were deadly for 10 days.
