  • you want footage we got some! we did this exact thing except with results and humor. search hipster bullshit

  • this was great! needs a few more triangles tho ΔΔΔ

  • hahaha very nice. and duh they were the hipsters... being critical about everyone else. its irony they stand for.

  • this is a hipster propaganda film.

  • Hahahaha, way to go. Perfect.

  • If you look around and can't find hipsters, and you're holding a video camera and talking about fashion, and obscure rock...you ARE the hipster.

  • he said "fingering her bangs"

  • Is the real message in this the fact that YOUR hipster's makes ALL of this ironic?

    God. I sure hope so.

  • @SEVENTYxTIMESx7 *you're

correct usage of your: Your grammar makes no sense. =)

  • Very intelligent and entertaining. Bravo!

  • lol uhhhh

  • fag

  • The idea with the belt and post it notes was a very unique and creative was to start the video, and the book at the end was good too. So basically the editing was great. I like how instead of just watching you or some photos of what was happening to the members of the group you had video. It was really easy to watch. Good job. And my own opinion in hipsters.... I think I probably am one, the only one most likely in Iowa... But at the same time I'm not one. I don't know, labels are tricky.

  • I thought this was clever and brilliant. I enjoyed it.

  • I totally GET this.

  • you had me at ratatat

  • ahaha nice :D go ohioans

  • dude you're a complete shithead!

  • shermans march... much

  • Really cool. Your teach should give you an A.

  • eat food hipsters.

  • how ironic

  • Hipsters are people, too. But they still suck.

  • that was gay...im gonna go do some actual hipster bashing now that i wasted 7:00 minutes listenin to some monotonous voice from some homo who sounded like he either had a cold or was gonna cry the entire video. fuck hipsters and this dude

  • wow man. you sound so hip. oh, and homophobic.

  • nah, i dont mind gay people all that much. but like im sure u figured out i hate hipsters, and this video. and ur insanely pathetic use of sarcasm

  • o yea, and glow sticks suck too...i dnt hate gays, just hipsters this video and glowstick videos

  • i think you guys may actually be hipsters yourselves.

  • ha ha i agree

  • as do i only hipsters would want to do a video on hipsters you people and your irony starved life style.=P

  • Wow, Luis Buñuel is traspasing borders!

    go for them Huicho!

  • love it awesome job.

  • haha, this was pretty damn great.

p.s. i love this ratatat song.

  • fucking faggots

  • Fuck that the only reason I watched was to see and laugh at hipsters. Screw this!

  • they are hipsters thats the irony

  • youre right at the end. people are people, trying to fit in with a certain crowd is just a way to figure out where your place in the world is.

  • very nice work

  • Really well made, but damnit, I wish you guys actually filmed hipsters and made fun of them. I don't care how 'pretentious' and 'condescending' it is. Hipsters suck. I think it's kind of condescending how you think making fun of hipsters makes you in turn condescending. It's obviously a stupid fad, and there's really no problem with exposing their laughable excuse for a social movement. Just my opinion, but I did enjoy the film.

  • I really liked this

  • wow, good one guys

  • The facetious tone made this video thoroughly enjoyable; I will most definitely share this with others.

  • Yes, no, maybe so, but it doesn't reckon matter whether or not I understand. Hope to see more from you sorts.

  • This project failed because all of those involved, with the exception of the woman who went on vacation, posess all of the negative qualities they describe as belonging to hipsters. The only thing that diferentiates them from their subjects is fashion sense, but their manner of dress, no matter how modest, is as much an expression of ego and vanity as that of the New York hipsters they are searching for.

  • see my reply to thedeanjive's comment along similar lines.

  • Yes, yes, I understand. I'm not discrediting the quality of this piece, which is very well put together, nor am I denying the self deprecating humor that is apparent throughout. It is very unlikely that the narrator would be able to talk so much mess about his fellow group members without making them irate. I guess I'm just wondering: do you consider yourselves to be hipsters? If not, then please explain. Again,I wouldn't respond if I didn't find it compelling.

  • Wow, thank you for the well-worded reply- you don't often find such thorough critics on youtube. The curous thing about hipsters is no one ever admits to being a hipster. Even the young men wearing jeans far too tight for his own good, clove in one hand, can of Black Label in the other, talking about how Deerhoof is too mainstream would not call himself a hipster. I think I would be in a bad position to determine my own overall hipsterness. cont'd below...

  • However, the qualities displayed in the video that you (and many others, it seems) may be reacting too are not traits we actually possess, and if tey are, they are gross exaggerations. We put on airs of pretension, etc. for the sake of the video. Did this answer your question?

  • derivative, uninspired, ironically pretentious schlock...pure schlock

  • yes

  • ahh I get it now

  • you probably didn't find any hipsters because you are hipsters yourselves..

I mean seriously who calls people condescending and pretentious???

    *coughhypocritescough*

  • In the defense of the video to the comments of both neroadam and thedeanjive (and phaddeaus7 as well, I suppose):

The goal of the video was just that, to poke fun at ourselves as filmmakers for being guilty of the crimes we were trying to expose. Perhaps the self-depricating and ironic tone wasn't adequately conveyed or perhaps you only took the project at face-value. Maybe take another look and see what you think with this in mind...

  • wow, i wish i went to a really expensive liberal arts college so i could say awesome words like 'pretentious' and 'condescending' 10 times an hour too.

  • HAH! pwned

  • Nerodam has to get past -- far beyond -- the idea that sinple vocabulary ("pretentious" and "condescending"?) separate him from the intelligentsia and are being used by the intelligentsia to preclude him or her somehow from the discourse. This is a self-defeating cry disguised thinly as an attack on elitism. -- Professor (not Oberlin)

  • I promise I'm not intimidated by those words, I was merely commenting on the fact that they seemed really impressed by themselves for being able to employ those words. I mean honestly, count the times they say those words. Count them.

  • Ok. I believe you. As for the Oberlin students, they do have good reason to think they're work is clever, because it is. (It might have been the only way to save the assignment, in any case.) It is possible that words such as these do come easily, perhaps too easily, too these students. I admit that I didn't notice, much less count, the repetition, which was hopefully purposeful. If not, you're feedback to them is quite good.

  • That is, "their" work! And "to" these students. Jotted that off in a rush, I suppose. Sorry about that.

  • You don't need to be sorry. I'm not pretentious or condescending enough to call someone out on their missed spellings.

  • very entertaining cool concept

  • The Hipsters need to smile more. Everyone looks better when they smile.

  • nice

  • this film is hipster

  • hehehehe, good job.

  • this was great!

  • WE MADE FESTIVAL! CHECK OUT THE HIPSTER PROJECT AS WELL AS LOTS OF OTHER GREAT FILMS AT THE FIRST ANNUAL DCTV 24 HOUR FILM FESTIVAL JULY 7TH AND 8TH. MORE INFO AT WWW.DCTVNY.ORG/24 !

  • I commend you as I had my own "let's poke fun at the hipsters" documentary that went awry, at least you had the good sense to make your failure into a narrative.

  • great job. i enjoyed this alot.

  • I love that this was a school project. Should have thought that at Oberlin you'd find hipsters, but now I'm guessing you specifically didn't find any to support the conclusion. Experiments can be "proven" so many ways! Great film.

  • absolutely circuittuitous and undefinable, lovely
