  • It is very generous to so freely share your techniques ... and means a great deal to those of us who cannot attend formal art training. Best Wishes.

  • what kind of brushes do you normally use? nylon, hair or just ordinary?

  • @OrengeeEshee Dont remember about this movie ,I thing robert simmons titanium. Lately I've been using hog hair flats to start with, then lare hous painter's brushes for softening, and also small flat sable brushes and sable liners for details. In my other pear-movie I used a synthetic (rather stiff, short hair) to paint the table edge. Please cf the other pear movie...

  • Excelent excelent

  • Thank You over and over...Wonderful. Please keep speaking with us, busy as you must be...it means so much to those of us...far out in the wilderness...it is a warmth and generosity that would be hard to overestimate in terms of its importance to us. Thank you now with love, but God willing with much cash for you...but please dont forget us...keep talking to us...your whole life long. Please. God Bless.

  • Absolutely amazing! Thanks so much for posting.

  • what do you used to sketch the pear in the beginning ??!!!!!!

  • @bkmonkey707 I dont remember exactly but i think transparent oxide red and ultramarine blue dark (old holland paint)

  • Hi, I think there's a point between 2:37 and 2:39 when you did a step to smooth It all out and It's not showing in the video, can you please explain what brush or what technique you used?

  • @mar00725 I think I just skipped a part of the original video. Just kept on painting. To smooth out parts of the wet painting I sometimes use large, empty brushes , the kind that house painters use ('elma 59-0.75')..

  • what type of brush are you using at 2.04

  • wow.. just wow..

you're really good at this! I'm just now starting to paint. how long did it take you to get this good?? that pear is so life like. im amazed :D

  • @fallingstarrz Have been painting for about 10 years.. Well.. good... thing is that the more you paint, the more flaws you see, makin you wanna paint even more...

  • @josvanr That is so true.. and it's a good thing too. Just takes patience. :)

  • Wow. This is just wonderful.

  • hello, I definitely admire your work. beautiful, beautifully made. Do you wait for the paint to dry in between each layer? If so, how long? Thank you so much!

  • hello, if I paint in more than 1 layer, i wait for a day or so. But this one was painted in one layer (wet-into-wet) without waiting

  • @josvanr Thank you for the answer. I've started my apple painting following your advices along your videos. It helps! I think you'd made a great art teacher.

Is there any risk of future paint cracking with only one layer?

  • hmm teacher, maybe sometime in the future... I don't know about cracking, I don't think so. Liquin (alkyd resin) a very durable and flexible stuff. I've never seen a single crack in any one of my paintings, no matter how many layers...

  • (thus far, that is)

  • Prachtig en inspirerend

  • Paint the landscape??

  • ithe pear went real!:D

  • hi.. before I start to paint I 'oil out' the panel with a mixture of equal parts liquin and linseed oil (or stand oil). I use the same medium while painting. Sometimes I add some mineral spirits when I need thinner paint (eg to paint a thin line)

  • Great video; your paintings are really beautiful. May I just ask, do you use any additional medium such as turpentine or liquin with your oil paints?

  • yes I skipped some time to make the movie shorter.. I thought the most interesting things had been done. Only some softening there....

  • yeah, what happened in 2.40.. maybe just skiped..

  • que pasó en el minuto 2:40? magia!

  • brilliant, absolutely brilliant!

  • hi

I'll see if i can post a non-timelapse video next time (in parts)

  • Good job but it is too difficult to follow for someone who knows nearly nothing about techniques and using colours...like me wish i could follow it step by step

  • beautiful :)

  • Beautiful painting. Outstanding techniques. Great control. You paint the same way my professor taught me how to paint. background middle ground, highlights, detailing. Very nice. Watching this painting demostration make me want to start painting again instead of sculpting so much.

  • I like the way you see pears.

  • hi ana. thnx..

I use titanium white, burnt siena or transparent oxide red, ultramarine blue dark, cadmium yellow light and dark, alizarine crimson, scheveningen red, viridian and a dark purple of which I don't know the name right now. All paints are of the 'old holland' brand.. All other colors I mix..

  • hi my name is Ana is awesome your ability to paint. I just have a question... which colors you use???? I mean I can see it but the number color. I have a pair of painting I did of watermelons, really abstract and contemporary, that is my style.
