@givemeajackson why? alexi is an incredible player, along with loomis, just because he doesnt compose his songs entirely of arpeggios, doesn't mean he cant play them, he is more than capable of it..
@stix471 he's good, and he wrote some good songs and solos on older cob stuff, but he could never play loomis! he's not so god how everyone says. technically he's not even close to loomis. btw: listen to shouting fire at a funeral by jeff, he doesn't just sweep all the time. and the solos on newer stuff by alexi are mostly whammy-sweep-scale-another floyd action. since he's drunk all the time he lost a lot of skill!
@givemeajackson no, i disagree, just because alexi doesnt play like loomis does, doesn't mean he isnt capable, alexi has been playing for easily over a decade now, and is a proffessional and a VERY well renowned musician for a reason, people dont get sponsered by ESP if they're not good, Alexi is technically capable of playing all this stuff..
@stix471 people get sponsored by companies if they are very well known and have a big fat fanbase! the jonas brothers got a signature gibson, and you're not gonna tell me that they are good!
@xD0NKEYx no i can tell that theyre bigger than usual. Just looking at them when theyre still and comparing them to the fretboard i can see that theyre longer than usual, not a lot but theyre noticeably bigger than mine haha
What if his fretboard has a small width? I had a flying V that had the strings really close together and made my fingers look freakishly huge when they weren't.
@xD0NKEYx well, this guy is using EMGs and as far as i know they're all the same size. But, i also have a ruler here with me and judging by the size of the pickups compared to the bridge compared to his finger, he has longer fingers than me.
im just kidding about that last part haha im not gonna go that far but i just think that he has larger fingers than me based on the size of them compared to his guitar
Sometimes I do wish that I measured my fingers when I started playing guitar and now after all the sweep practicing/crap I've done over the past half+ decade... just to see if people get longer fingers by practice.
@xD0NKEYx fingers probably grow a little bit by practicing but i doubt they grow all that much. I think that people are stuck with the fingers they have for the most part and people with shorter fingers just have to stretch a bit farther and adjust their technique a bit.
@MonsterMetalMusic or they buy shorter scales like 24 3/4 instead of 25 1/2. i didn't notice that mine grow, but now i can move them pretty much independent from each other. and they've got skinnier.
the sweep that starts on the 19 fret goes:e-19-15,b-15,g-16,d-17,a-19(not 18)-15(not 14) and up again....and the last sweep goes:e-(T)24-20-17,b-18,g-17,d-19,a-20-15 and up again...if you slow down the vid that loomis plays it you'l see...:)
Sweeping on any instrument will be pretty much the same. The only thing affecting sweeping ability is string thickness, pick type, and possibly weird parts of the guitar getting in your way.
Other than that, sweeping = 95% technique, 5% other.
Unless you're playing on something worth less than 250$..., what you sound like on a 500$ guitar will sound pretty similar (if not identical) to a 1500$ guitar except for possibly more clarity due to the better guitar.
line 6 amps kick ass for when your playing at home or maybe small gig. i know cuz i have one. i dont think i would ever use it live for a big gig tho.
@dantinez Hell no. This guy I know used a line 6 for a gig at school. The thing made an annoying high pitched screeching noise every time you turned it up. Ruined the night for those boys. haha
What clean sweeps holy shit. Normally when people descend on sweeps you can just barely get the notes but yours sounded perfect and I heard every note perfectly. Great job.
great job bro.also you play it slow so other people can see it and try it out and you dont go full speed from the beginning like posers would:P. keep on rocking
@crazypeoples24686 Anytime man :D Thats the guitar I want to get, I thought about getting the Jackson RR1, but this guitar seems to be far superior, and about that much harder to get here in the states :/
I never said blues and pentatonics are the be all and end all of guitar, and your fan boy comments are unnecessary (i.e. this guy is better than I'll ever be *rolls eyes).
If youve watched any of this guys videos which I trust you have, clearly the only thing lacking in his playing is his vibrato. Blues and pentatonics are a great way to work on that; it serves as a great foundation to build on.
I suggest checking out some Frank Gambale, Tosin Abasi, Loomis or Paul Waggoner.
Technically you're great, but your vibrato needs work, in fact I'd be willing to bet that you'd have more difficulty learning and duplicating a solo by SRV or Slash than you would Jari Maenpaa.
Technical playing is great, but even Jari would tell ya to learn some basic blues, and at the very least work on your vibrato.
Nevertheless, excellent playing! Keep it up, you got the technical side down, now, work on your vibrato and conveying emotion in your playing. Once you have that your set!!
practise them with a metronome at slow speeds. like starting at 50 bpm and slowly increase the tempo as you find it easier to play at that beat (i suggest 16th notes)
@Norther219 lmao ive had a line 6 amp for 6 years and have played on max volume with it multiple times and its still going strong..line 6 is one of the top brand amps out there.
@usmarineoorah2 Line 6 amps are not even close to being the top brand amps out there, that's just a typical ignorant response from a novice. The best amps are Orange, Mesa, Engl, Soldano, Peavey and Line 6 can't touch any of those amps.
Dude, honestly, You are very capable of being an amazing guitarist. write your own materiel, get it copyrighted, and inspire kids to shred it up! seriously, you the chops to do it!
I can't play sweeps for shit. I am horrible at them haha. I didn't play alot of metal when I started out playing guitar so now I pretty much suck at stuff like this. I would really like to get my metal chops up but man stuff like that just really ties my fingers in knots.
also, the Inlays. I know that some SV's come with the arrow inlays, but (like in your situation) you have the standard Dot Inlays, so yea. If the SV came with Arrow Inlays, I would prefer it over the Alexi model. However, Its always good to have that second pickup in case you need it.
