  • eu amo essa musica ! ! !

  • I think that this song should be dedicated to all the men and women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. This applies to people of all nations who served with courage, from the UK, the US or wherever they came. We may forget the war but the warrior should never be forgotten.

  • I cant beleive that someone out there, that grew up with this has not snuck it on too a movie sound track . Im sure that kids the age i was when i wasdigging it today would totaly be into it

  • iron and wine's cover brought me here :D

  • i need something better, than "i like"...

I LIKE IT SO MUCH SINCE 1985!

since one of my first vinyls in my life.

  • to attend a concert with mike byte contact : 1 860 748 6606. he loves concerts

  • mike byte listens to punk music, rarely.

  • mike byte, social networker. contact him.

  • michael spyros has a tumblr: mikebyteslastbyte.... ew order, all punk songs, less than 1500 views.

  • wow mikebite way to dislike it

  • Iron and wine does this better i think.

  • Leave New Order songs to New Order.

  • Love, Love this song <3

  • I&W blows away the original

  • Once upon a time I met with Jill, She was great, She used to live in NYC, chelsea...It was in 1987... We were listening this all the time...So great, I love New order...Thanks to Jill Allison Fishkin,...it was a long time ago...And New Order is still great!

  • The iron and wine version of this is rotten! they take all the romance out of the song and kill it stone dead! are they a joke!

  • @heatherfaced

Agreed. I had never even heard of I&W before I looked for this song. New Order does this song infinitely better, imho. It is their song, after all...

  • Ahh, brings me back to my youth. I love this song. It will never diminish over time.

  • We are the sons of no one.... bastards of young.

  • This is a great song. But I still like the I&W version better. Probably cause I heard it first. They just make it sound more serious and sad than the original I guess.

  • yes yes yes

  • :)

  • nice 1

  • @harvardamg Sorry But I just felt asleep when I listen to Iron and Wine version..... :P

  • I even have a clear hi hat sound

  • Iron & Wine makes this look funny & dissapointing.

  • The Iron and Wine cover was an interesting and well sung rendition, but I must say their cover doesn't even lay a finger on this original.

  • Best New Order song! :D

  • I must say that I personally love Sam Beam's(Iron & Wine) voice and rendition of this song better than the original. An awesome song, nonetheless.

  • @maccally1 I must disagree with on that. This is an original composition from New Order, Iron and Wine covered it. How could a cover be superior, when this song was released in the New Wave Era?

  • @Supersweetguy It's just my opinion, feel free to disagree. I did enjoy the original, but to my ears the Iron and Wine rendition of it was better.

I've heard plenty of covers that were in ways superior to the originals, it's not unheard of.

  • The part about the soldier finding the telegram that says he's dead reminds me from a scene in an old Twilight Zone episode, called "Death Ship".

  • saw new order in early 90's at the Palace in Hollywood Ca, in front of about 400 people they were amazing. They were truly a great band like echo and the bunnyman or INXS.

  • This song is actually a soldier who wishes to go home to his family. He thought he made it then he realized he was already dead and he was just a ghost looking at his family grieving for him.

  • Iron & Wine's cover is so different. I personally enjoy I&W's version better, but to each his own. =3

  • Classic song, the most beautiful by New Order I believe. :)

  • @iamtahoe yeah, fuck ceremony (irony)

  • 3:35 GUITAR!!!!

  • beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeautiful!

  • My freshman year in college was 1985. I havent heard this song in 20 years. The memories of a much simplier time in my life is all rushing back. Thank you so much for sharing this song with us...

  • 2 words: LOVED IT.

  • Im crying right now......I love this song

  • Wonderful music, great lyrics... wonderful rythim. I´ve danced this song several times in the 80´s... Besides the message about war, some rock and gothic pubs and some surf clubs used to play this beautiful song...

New Order. There´s no wonderful bands like them nowadays..

  • El primer tema del LOW LIFE....Vaya joyita, para mì de lo mejor de New Order...

  • I sang this song to my self and my M-16 while staring at the sea shortly after 9/11. I then wrote my wifes name on my M-16 with a spare .223 round.

  • @awellfedbottomfeeder sounds like your gonna climb a clock tower with that m-16 someday

  • Such a fine, fine song. Some of their greatest lyrics. This made my wife weep the first time she heard it. Pure genius, some of the most brilliant music in the most brilliant decade of music the world has ever known.

  • this song follows me since childhood... and follows me now... I love new order ...

  • WTF happened to favorites;) Frigging facebook now youtube.

  • @ JMbanal: i think it's actually about the bureaucracy of the military (and government) and how they mistakenly sent his wife notification that he was killed in action. (he saw the note in her hand after she fainted, etc..) - still brings a tear here, for me...

'low life' was done shortly after the english "war" in the falklands, and no doubt there were quite a few stories like this around at the time.

  • I love that the message is delayed for the best impact. Great anti-war song!

  • Great Song!

  • Great song, but then the whole low life album is extract of genius in a high concentration.

BTW,its just occurred to me that Stephen Morris looks exactly like Tony Gardner who plays Micheal the cafe shop owner in the Jack Dee comedy "Lead balloon."

    Or is it just me?

  • narrator is already dead and singing about war and his family...

it brings tears to my eye everytime i hear it...

  • Everything relates back to New Order somehow

  • Iron and Wine did a GREAT cover.....this version for me is too jolly to be talking about a man who just came back from war but died on the plane and his ghost continued on but the saw his wife with the message that he was dead. Yes, very jolly indeed.

  • ah velhos tempos!!!

  • So sad and wonderfully written

  • I just realised that this song is about a dead soldier...ohh...Great song.

  • @Xaxannoul4 I always figured it was about a soldier who was changed by his experiences in war. "Dead" metaphorically, as he was not the same person who left.

  • @Xaxannoul4 Read "Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge."

  • Love this song, especially the jam that starts at 3:34.

  • I love their blunt lyrics.

  • J'aime cette chansoon pluus que tout ! <3

  • wow!!!

  • Ya le vale al Mikel Erentxun... Plagioooooooooooo

  • this song always starts off my New Order line up on my ipod ... always !!!

  • classic

  • thanks for putting all new order stuff on here mate,

    nice one
