Elina, Elina, where is the joy here? Carmen has but an hour left to live, you might as well sing this with great "enfievrée!" Alagna's uniform looks a little too Hitler-Jugend Third Reich for my taste. Black boots and la costume militaire would help a lot.

@sillyboydeux I think this production was set in Franco's Spain, which was allied with Germany? That's what I thought when I saw it. And fascist or not in this, Alagna's looking fine.... :D

@sillyboydeux Take no offence, but you seem a "silly boy" indeed. How can she have "but an hour left to live"? This is in the first half of the opera, and there is more than an hour left until the final scene even in terms of opera length. Much more in terms of action. This scene is even long before Carmen sees her future in cards. She is only seducing Hose here. So there is no need for any excessive "fever".

As for Alagna's uniform, read what 'ABookwormAndProud' wrote in response to you.

Love it! I really like Elina Garanca. For another great version of this piece (or indeed the whole opera) search for the version sung by Agnes Baltsa and Jose Carreras. That's really my favourite version - but this is really good as well.
