  • I was named Curtis lee after this song. Born in 1962.

  • This song was 50 years ago no.9 in the world charts #curtis #lee

  • i am 13 but i am just addicted to the 50's and 60's music! its soo much better than the most of the newer stuff...i think, :)

  • @cutie13231 yes !

  • Love this song! So cute.

  • This music makes me wanna be in 50's.

  • @renatamirandoli you mean the 60's

  • @verac900 Exactly. Sorry.

  • I love older music...it's so amazing. Back before songs were all about sex and drinking in the club.

  • @ManderMurduh Until the degenerate eightys. At that point it was drinking and sex in the club.

  • what kind of music is this???

  • I'm 14 and I'm in love with this :D

  • @Poii97 Well in 1961 I was in love with this song and similar songs on the radio AND in 1961 I was 14 years old, the same age as you are right now. So I'm happy that you love this music as I think it still sounds great! But one thing more. I wish I was 14 like you right now instead of the age I am. Guess I don't like getting old. Stay young as long as you can Poii97. Guess you were born in 1997 and here in 2011 you are 14. I was born in 1947 and was 14 in 1961 when this song was new!!

  • @boblackey1 I like that you actually took time to read my post so thanks :) Indeed I was born in 1997 :P don't waste your time in wishing... live it :) I miss being 5 or at least 9 years hahaha but here I am being a teenager and I'm loving it and your turn to enjoy your age you'll never be too old (:

  • @Poii97 Thank you Poii97 for reading my post. too!! Yeah I guess you are right in that you never get too old to enjoy good music and Pretty Little Angel Eyes is great!! I've been crazy about that song for years!! I remember the first time I went to a dance as a teenager I finally got the nerve to ask a young lady for a dance, it was in a large room at the local YWCA, and she accepted and the song was Duke of Earl by Gene Chandler. But it's funny I can't remember the second song or the third:-)

  • If Justin Bieber does not exist, This song still run. Justin bieber, you dead.

  • THNX FOR GREAT POST!!!! RESPECT!!!!

  • Greatest song ever, ty for being around to lets us perform you in our concert - from villa park choir

  • I'm 15 and I LOVE the oldies. Big fan of 50s and 60s music. They have a sort of magnificence to them.

  • Still awesome !!

  • Keep listening Chantelle, you make this old rocker proud. Keep the music alive! Doo Wop forever!!!

  • Driving down Essex Street hangin' a right on Newbury Street and grabbin' a skatch and a Coke at Steve Coco's drivin' around The Common past Lawrence High with The Radio on and every song is terrific.

    Question: What the fuck happened?

  • A really good oldie. Music like this isn't made any longer.

  • We're singing this in choir. When the bases sing I can't help but laugh :D

  • I loved this song when it came out. Yeah...that's how old I am, but I have to admit that I love the Cactus Cuties version just as much. Its kids like this that will keep this music fresh forever. Great Rock-n-Roll songs will never die.

  • I'm an old bag of 71 and this is one of the best songs .. ever.

  • ALL THESE YEARS I THOUGHT CURTIS LEE WAS A BROTHER (BLACK).

    DOES NOT MATTER, GREAT MUSIC.

  • i went mad crazy trying to look for this song when i heard it on the flipped trailer

  • i wish most of girls these days should appreciate this song..

  • Great song! If you are a Curtis Lee fan, try the flip side "Gee, How I wish You Were Here". Another wonderful song.

  • Awesome, beautiful rock classic - one of the best multi-layered harmonic tunes ever! Sha Na Na also did a fantastic, tighter 'updated' cover, too. The Cactus Cuties' version is seamless, razor sharp and simply astonishing! ;)

  • wow... awesome

  • My daddy used to sing this to me :)

  • omg this was in the movie Flipped , I Saw The Movie Once & Fell In Love With The Movie Right Away , So My Mom Got It For Me For Christmas :D , Bryce Is Soo Cute :D , I AM SO FLIPPED <3 :D

  • I was looking for this for ever I couldn't find it!! Lol I'm flipped!!!!

  • I finally found this! the one from Flipped!!!!! <3

  • IM FLIPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • una hermosa cancion para dedicar

  • It's hard to find a bad song from 1961. Everything seemed magical, music-wise. I think part of it was the fact there were only a few stations, and they played all sorts of music--doo wop, rockabilly, pop, even country and jazz. That's why you had hits like this, like Asia Minor, like Runaway, Runaround Sue. Everything. Now, the music is fragmented, with no chance of hearing anything different whatsoever.

  • vocals sung from the heart, now that's MUSIC!!!

  • sha na na still has the best version

  • @neverdenytheu - I love Sha Na Na, but I might have to give the edge to Curtis Lee over Donny York, but if Cantardo sang lead that would be a different story.

  • I absolutley love the Cactus Cuties version of this...this ehhh not to much

  • this was on flipped the movie! O_O

  • I have never heard of it till now. I was in the car and I heard it play while I was on my computer and I looked it up. LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!

  • Now the Oldies stations play 70's and 80' as oldies they act like the old people don't listen to radio!!! Screw their polls! Old people do listen!

  • For those of us who were lucky enough to grow-up in the 50's and early 60's era, this type of song was one of many fast dance records that you could do the Stomp to. It certainly was one of the best for that purpose!

    Ron--Highway Stars Magazine

  • I don't know why, but I get goosebumps when I listen to this song! I love it! Marvelous music back then! :)

  • i feel like im in love..

  • This was on the radio earlier. Great song!

  • Man, im 16 years old and i cant bring myself to listen to todays music.

when i have the option to listen to this instead!

  • @Chantelle8080 It's better than all the inapropriate stuff today, it's gross. I like this music better.

  • @Chantelle8080 thats exactly what i do man!

I'm only 14, and i love listening to this music.

I wish they could bring it back.

  • @skatingbaybee i know!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Chantelle8080 good for you, at least you wont get your head screwed up by that rap garbage

  • @dicarlo57 Hater all music is good for u and its good to explore all different types of music thats why i listen to everything country,rock,pop,rap,hip-hop sooo yea u cant really say that statement

  • @silverberry98 Sure you can. One might listen to this music by choice exept in cases of younger minds which most of this (all types) music is aimed at. "Mind control" is easily present whether intended or not.

  • @Chantelle8080 Well I was 16 when I heard it for the first time. Welcome to Good Old Rock n Roll :)

  • @Chantelle8080 Im wit u...ur not alone...so ur now 17?

  • i love the cactus cuties arrangement as well!!

  • this was the opening and the closing song for the new released movie Flipped.

  • It just doesn't get any better than this - the sax solo gives me chills...

  • Heard this in the move Flipped! I love it! They don't make songs like these any more. This has got to be my favorite time period for music! It was so cool and so much fun!! Wish they made more like this!

  • this song is SO catchy! i <3 it! i heard in FLIPPED

  • Damm, old songs like these make me sad! They make me wish i was born way back in the days, when everything seemed funner & beautiful. kinda like in the movie greece, or flipped! :,'(

  • WOW, drives me crazy ! Thanks for the post.

  • if you love this song, go see Flipped, it has some of my favorite classic songs like this one, A Teenager in Love by Dion & The Belmonts and Da Doo Ron Ron by The Crystals. if a really innocent and cute movie that everyone no matter the age will love! :)

    5*****.

    Jennie.

  • Please excuse the mistake. Curtis Lee did the original version, but what did The Earls do?

  • @JohnGee1977 Remember Then

  • Used to love it when my mom and dad played their 45s when I was little. I am 42 now and it seems like yesterday. I miss them both but they live on the music they introduced me to.

  • <3 the Cactus Cutie version so much!

  • What Can I say Pre Gold Star Studios PHIL SPECTOR

  • My all time favourite 60s doowop. I must have worn this out on the coffee bar jukebox.

  • This was the epitomy of the real* feel good music back in the day. I wish this genre of music was still the norm. Great memories.

  • Great, great Doo wop song. Who backed up Curtis Lee?

  • @999YORK The Halos

  • @kcliatt1 i went to check out the cover u mentioned

and i never laughed so hard lmao

  • @kcliatt1 You are right. Those kids are GREAT!! I tried to post a comment but could not. Where do they come from, and how did they get into doo-wop? Their cover is genuine, not a spoof. I wish them all the luck in the world.

  • @kcliatt1 U R Right....their cover is excellent!!

  • @kcliatt1 Oh but it did....

  • woah, i did a pageantry routine to this last year for my pageantry final. i absolutley LOVE this song =]

  • Was this the first hit that Phil Spector produced? At what, age 21?

  • I think Phi's first produced hit was To Know Him is to Love Him by the Teddy Bears. I like the Sha Na Na version too,

  • Loved this song when it was popular. Thanks for posting this. Fran

  • man I'm a freshman in college and life's so inescapably complicated, if the "good old days" were like they say, I wish I had lived then instead of now

  • They were like you hear, BUT you are FAR better off today, and take that to the bank........a positive out look transcends the decade or the year......you'll look back 20-30 years from now and laugh at how simple you life really was......guaranteed!!

  • haha yea. life is more complicated due to sciences and what not to help make life LESS complicated, but hey, at least we can't die from appendixitis any more

  • Excellent comment!

  • the summer of' 1961 was the end of innocence --- some great music never to be forgotten

  • Hey All:

When this song came on the AM dial on our hugh Cadillac, my sister and I would turn the volume way up and dance outside our car no matter where we were-try to do that nowadays, nobody back then cared....what a groovey time that was!

  • Turn the tune down, or turn the vocals up!

  • This is the quintessential song of the era. It is the pure and concentrated essence of a Doo-Wop and the most perfect embodiment of everything Rock & Roll. No wonder it's may all time favorite!

  • Pretty Little Angel Eyes; written by Tommy Boyce and Curtis Lee. Background group was The Halos. Former member of the Teddy Bears group, PHIL SPECTOR, produced this ONE HIT WONDER on Dunes Records August 1961. It was A #7 hit on the Billboards Charts that year. Great DOO-Wop hit.

  • i love this song and also every the doo wop songs

  • This was my favorite of all the hits from the summer of 1961.
