I'm not saying USC wasn't the better team. USC was the better team that day, the better team doesn't have second quarte rmeltdowns like Penn State did. I'm just saying that USC wasn't six touchdowns better like many say. And if you want to play in the national championship game instead of against Big Ten teams, stop losing to cupcakes like Stanford and Oregon State and only showing up for games against real teams. The lower half of the Big Ten sucked last year, no getting around it. The top half was decent, though. Northwestern and Ohio State were the better team in their bowls, but had to turn into Charlie Brown right at the end and find a way to lose. Penn State played against what really was the best team in the nation and lost, but all that means is Penn State wasn't the best. Now Wisconsin and Minnesota, definitely cupcakes. Wisconsin was possibly the biggest fraud of the past few years.

I honestly think that if you ran this game through a computer simulator PSU wins about 4 times out of 10. I know computer simulators are just for fun, but they give an idea on what can happen. In about 1 out of 20, Penn State would blow out USC, and in about 3 out of 20, USC would blow out Penn State. But USC was the better team that day, not just because they won, but also because they made less foolish mistakes than we did and outgained us statistically.

Hey ya'll are just lucky that PC pulled back the offense in the 2nd half so that the Trojans wouldn't put the Nittanies into such an embarrasing position. Scoring 14 points late in the 2nd half was just sad, considering SC's 2nd and 3rd string players were in the game, and for the most part, the "D" gave your tem some gravy points. Not that it mattered.

Perhaps next year.... No, wait, that'll be when the Trojans will play for the National Championship ... at the Rose Bowl.

I saw no second or third stringers. I saw Ray Malaluga, Taylor Mays, and the rest of the starters. I wouldn't call cutting the lead to 14 with 4 minutes left "gravy points". Now if SC would have gone into prevent and allowed a TD as time expired, then that maybe. And it didn't look like the offense scaled back in the second half. 40% passes in the second half to 55% passes in the first half isn't exactly taking your foot off the gas.

Yes, perhaps next year, we could get a rematch at Pasadena.

One more thing. Don't get mad cuz you still need to hear this. 1. Pac 10 was the most underrated conference. U have no right to diss them after the big 10 record. 2. Never expect to beat USC in the Rose Bowl cuz it ain't gonna happen. 3. PSU didn't beat themselves. They weren't as good as SC and I know you love your team and all, but even on their best performance they weren't gonna beat SC. USC is prob. the best team in the country. And that's unbiased. 5. Ok, I'm not mad, but 1. I give credit for the Pac 10 winning all their games, but they didn't play anyone decent, and yes, I'm not going to say that the Big ten was good, I know they were bad, but just because our conference sucked, that doesn't mean that I can't tell a good conference to a bad conference. 2. Don't say never 3. Yes they did, PSU averages around 1 or 2 penalties a game, and average of +1 turnover margin, They played uncharacteristic sloppy football.

fumbles and facemasks no doubt, but silly things like offsides or false start are simply mental errors. They probably are, but they came to the game ready to play focused, and we didn't, and that's why USC won it's simple as that. PSU had to bring their A game, but barely brought a B game.

I don't think USC was better in all aspects, really they were similar to Penn State overall, but USC was the better team that day. And even if USC was better all around, that doesn't mean an upset couldn't have happened. I mean, Oregon State beat USC, the same Oregon State that Penn State waxed 45-14 (it was 42-7 before the backups were in). Every game is different, so there's no telling how each game will turn out.

Why do you think USC would win 9 out of 10? You have nothing to base that on. By that logic USC would have lost to Oregon State 9 out of 10 times. The stats show that while USC was the better team, the difference wasn't as great as many claim it to be. As I've said before, USC was the better team that day, Penn State had a second quarter meltdown. The better team doesn't kill its own momentum like Penn State did early on (when they got real momentum going, it turned out to be too late).

I love how you pick on the Big Ten losses but never mention the victories. OSU won the NC in 02, Michigan beat Florida last year, Penn State has won 3 preivious bowls to this rose bowl. I did check my facts, and realize that the Big ten is down, but so is every other conference. Honestly, all confrences haven't been tested, and some get more wins than others. Did people crap over Oklahoma loosing two bowl games in a row?

It's not as easy as you say it is. The Big Ten is located up north, where after september it goes down below 0 and has constant 40 mile per hour. You can't be as successful of a team in the conference with a TT type of offese. With snow on the ground, speed get's neutralized, that's why the Big Ten recruits, bigger stronger guys, compared to faster guys. I would love to see a BCS bowl in any of the Northern stadiums. It's not that they don't want to, it's that it doesn't work up here.

Actually, I've been a fan during the paul hacket era. We were lucky to just win half of our games. Anyway, We are SC has been used for since my dad went there for college so it wasn't a joke. We use it too. It's been used for many years. Anyway, most SC fans aren't die hards like I am. They're bandwagon fans. They don't count. So don't listen to them. Did they root for SC during the 8 straight years UCLA beat us? I did, they didn't. So just remember, we're not all that bad.
