actually most of french protestants (mainly calvinistic) don't celebrate the day of Reformation because it's lutheran more than calvinistic. However it could be mentionned in the pastor's predication. But we prefer celebrate christian feasts as Noel, pentecôte, Pâques...We celebrate too "catholic feasts" which are not against Bible (as far as i'm concerned i don't celebrate the day of Mary august 15th but i celebrate chandeleur which comemorate a biblical episode)
for Clovis yes but France is no more the eldest daughter of the catholic church since Reformation, Gallicanism, Jansenism, Secularism...only 10 percent of french people are "really" catholic (belivers who go to the mess) 3 percent are "really" protestant and 6 percent are muslim. Even french catholicism is not so "roman"
