@JinGitaxias To be specific, they spell it "Youmuu's Ghostblade". There's also an item named "Wriggle's Lantern". A lot of the people involved in designing the champions have admitted to being inspired by Touhou for other stuff in the game, too (Lux, Orianna, etc.).

Despite all this, I don't really like how Ahri gets compared to Ran. Ahri was designed for the Korean players in the first place, and aside from being a nine-tailed fox, she has nothing else in common with Touhou.

Just being a kitsune, a nine-tailed fox, isn't enough to represent Ran since there are many stories about kitsune.

@Ritsuioko23 She's not bland, she's Buddhist :) and the perfect foil and "voice of reason" to Yukari's lunacy - in addition to being the most powerful youkai beast and a math genius.

Alternate backstory has her as either a feral Kyuubi and wrecker of havoc before being "tamed" by Yukari or tragically orphaned and adopted by Yukari.

Also, she's one of the funniest characters in the Manzai series ("Suppatenko? You wanna die?") and the only one to kick the "invinci-ball" in half in Touhou Soccer.

@GThomas1502 Really? She is for some reason hard as hell to beat in Phastasm stage. Seriously, she literally kicks my ass with her two spell cards, especially the one where she rolls around the stage and I can't seem to catch up with her. Oh yeah, her nonspell attack is pretty tough at some time too which contributes to the ragequits. Good job Ran Yakumo, you're officially harder in Phantasm than you are in Extra mode from my view.

@danesp101 Um, Yukarin is not really immortal, only long-lived. The only true immortal characters appearing in the series are Mokou and Kaguya. Also i think it was Yukari who stated that even with the combined efforts of Reimu, Yuyuko and herself they still wouldn't be able to best the Yama if she got serious, so... its debatable, really.

My best bet is that she's killable, but that she can come back to life as easily as walking though a revolving door; her tombstone would say "AFK, BRB", ahaha.
