As a lot of folks have pointed out, this is not a high probability technique. You are gving up control of the knife for the eye attack. Defanging the snake with limb destruction is the higher probability, safer route, but that doesn't mean this isn't legitmate. We all have to choose which principals and strategies we want to apply.
