To me the intro., few notes of this piece, make me think of a baseball game out in the front courtyard of the castle. Its sort of a 'Gothic Baseball Theme'. They could have topless Medusa, throwing those mini heads at him, while he uses the back of his wipe as his bat, and the multi-headed dragon cannons as the umpire, catching the ball and spitting it back to the mound.

Once the stage map changes from "to the castle" to "inside the castle" you know something will differ in the next stage.

It is only when the entrance hall music resonates and you clear the first 3 waves of monsters that you truly realise how much shit has just hit the fan.

@ShreddingDragon pale is not forcingly referring to vampires. nobles in middle age had the "noble pale", meaning if someone had no bright skin he prolly wasn't noble. why is that? because peasants had to work all day and got much suntan this way

But since per classic vampire definition they often are noble or aristocratic, and because Castlevania games are all about hunting vampires (okay there are other monsters too, but it's *Dracula* we're ultimately after) I couldn't help getting the said mental picture from the title.
