so totally wonderful - great visual take on the song. I love the editing and the way your convey the inner states of the characters. I love when she stomps on the sand castles. Very complex and nuanced music video. Great song too.
I don't like the music too much, but I still appreciate how well you captured it. The mirror scene was really well done, at the beginning. I have a strong urge to build sand castles and stomp the line.
evocative, gorgeous, the images draw me into the music . . . I don't think I would have heard the words without the images drawing me into that vulnerable place in my heart I hardly dare allow myself to be . . . it compels me to watch again
What really rocks me, though, are the "inner images" he hallucinates of her in the later part of the vid (trying to "get to the bottom" of her soul?) - and you are using real x-ray images for this! How did you achieve this? I am excited and in awe!
My favorite moments: We see him trying to get reconnected with the girl by staring into the tv screen (like she did in the past), only to get white noise (fabulous idea!)... The girl with the candle cart at the beach (pure poetry, this must be 4 am in the morning?), the "skirt cam" perspective (somehow reminds me of another vid of yours), and finally, his futile attempts of rebuilding sandcastles which are being stomped on by the girl's bare feet (another great visual metaphor)...
I just watched this extraordinary vid several times and I think I still have merely touched the surface of its many layers... Despite some occasional frolicking, in its essence, the dreamlike imagery of "Hourglass" is tragic, an afterglow of untroubled times... Fractured memories are represented e.g. by paint strokes on the mirror diffusing her facial reflection or by jump cuts letting the singer vanish between the trees.
This the best of CZMMA that I have ever seen. The producer "Lily" seems to be improving with every new video. I love the artsy blending of images from one to the other---besides Brey's great music--it seems that we are taking a trip through fairyland. Keep them coming!
Great work!
