Help- Can anyone give me a non-Moslem reference for 7 atmospheric layers? Can't find any scientist who regards the magnetosphere as a layer- the earth's magnetic field pervades all the layers of the atmosphere as well as the earth. Dark- I found info about atmosphere layers by doing as you suggested and searching under 'Atmosphere LFMMII'. If you do a Yahoo search it comes up number 2 - 'Numerical prediction models used by the NWS (US National Weather System)' -immediately after the Moslem claim to miracles.
There are 7 and 12 layer models but I think you will find the most accurate weather forcasts use a 16 layer model. The layers are defined by pressures.
But tats beside the point. I did wat u said, typed in 'Atmosphere LFFMMII'(i copied and pasted so i wldnt get any error) and the second result i get is "proofs 7 heavens" by a website called "path to peace". And i dont think tats wat u are talking abt. So either msg me with the link or your case is lost.
I've just checked the LFMMII model used for weather forcasting. It seems they now find a 16 layer model gives better accuracy. I guess with the atmosphere a continuum, any number of layers can be defined.

Tat comma tells us that the description of the moon was the beginning of a new statement, continuous from the previous description regarding the layers.
I don't think you will find a comma before the word 'and' effects meaning in the English language. The point is that the moon is in the MIDST of the 7 heavens.

It is not a name in the text, it is grammatically an adjective. Look up Hosea 9:6 and 9:16 for another place that this adjective is used.

It is true that Deut 18:18 is one of only two Bibilical quotes which Mohamad felt able to apply to himself. Unfortunately, as Jay explains, neither will hold up to ANY inspection. Looking at Deut 17:15 we find that 'among your brothers' must mean a fellow Israelite- i.e. descendent of Jacob/Israel. JESUS was a descendant of Israel, Mohammad was not!!

In response to Deut. 18:18-20, it sounds a lot like what is repeated in the Quran- about a Prophet being sent from amongst his people.
"Prophet like you Moses"- means a man, who receives divine messages from God to guide mankind, a shepherd. It does not mean that Muhammad has to be an adopted prince.
This is like Noah (pbuh) being a brother to the people he was sent to because he (pbuh) was from them. Same as Lot, Saul, Abraham, Moses, Aaron, Jesus (pbut).

There are many names of God in the Torah, in the Bible, and according to Muslims, there are 99 most beautiful names of God. And even then, not all the names of God have been revealed to all the prophets. Muhammad (pbuh) said before the Day of Judgement will start, he'll prostrate before God for as long as God desires. Earlier in Deut 17:15 God specifies that Moses' 'brothers' are his fellow ISRAELITES. These were the descendents of JACOB who was also called ISRAEL (see Gen 32:28)

Jesus claimed to be BOTH prophet AND Son of God. Prophecies (and other signs) authenticate His claim to divinity.
In the same way Jesus used miracles to back His authority to forgive sin: "So you may know the Son of Man has has authority on earth to forgive sin"- (he said to the paralytic) "take up your mat and walk" Matt 9:6

If Allah himself has written the Quran and included scientific proofs to authenitcate his revelation, I would expect clearer explanations.
eg The moon is NOT a light, but reflects light from the sun. The sun's light then passes through all the layers of the atmosphere to reach the earth.
Even this I would find more impressive than what I read in the Quran.

I dont see anywhere in this verse tat suggests the moon producing its own light. Light is reflected off it, hence it is the moon's. The Holy Quran however does not suggest tat the moon produces its own light.

If the Quran claims to be a science book written by Allah to validate Mohammad's revelation I would expect him to make clear the light actually comes from the sun.

Help- Can anyone give me a non-Moslem reference for 7 atmospheric layers? Can't find any scientist who regards the magnetosphere as a layer- the earth's magnetic field pervades all the layers of the atmosphere as well as the earth. Even the ionosphere is not catagorised as a separate layer but as part of the thermosphere.

Dark- I found info about atmosphere layers by doing as you suggested and searching under 'Atmosphere LFMMII'. If you do a Yahoo search it comes up number 2 - 'Numerical prediction models used by the NWS (US National Weather System)' -immediately after the Moslem claim to miracles.
There are 7 and 12 layer models but I think you will find the most accurate weather forcasts use a 16 layer model. The layers are defined by pressures.

I've just checked the LFMMII model used for weather forcasting. It seems they now find a 16 layer model gives better accuracy. I guess with the atmosphere a continuum, any number of layers can be defined.

I think u forgot a comma.
This is wat Yusuf Ali translation says:
"See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp?"
Tat comma tells us that the description of the moon was the beginning of a new statement, continuous from the previous description regarding the layers.

I don't think you will find a comma before the word 'and' effects meaning in the English language. The point is that the moon is in the MIDST of the 7 heavens.
