In my opinion the inbetweeners are slightly based on this, except made to be more nataralistic. Neil is like...well Niel! (the stupid one)! Rik is like Simon (the one who thinks he is much smarter and better than everyone), VyVyan is like Jay (rebellious without a care), and Mike is like Simon (the quiet one) I'm of the young generation, and even I think that this 80s show was where concepts of todays comedies truley originate. God bless the young ones! :D
