Thanks for putting it together. It touches my heart. I just dread the day where I will lose my best friend...my wife. But the Lord will be merciful. I believe that.
They were a phenomenal pair. Each of their songs has a completely different style and tone from the last, and their lyrics and arrangements are just stunning. Simon and Garfunkel evoked every emotion possible with their music, they really put everything they could in each song. This is just beautiful.
amazing song thanks m8 the words sink in when you hit your mid 35's and realize you aint 15 no more, jeez i feel like i have to thank my parents for letting me listen to all there albums as a kid what a song and what ending to a song.
Unbelievably gorgeous. How could Paul Simon, so young back then, know what it feels to grow old. I was a teen back then, and am now 56, and fear getting even older. I look at my aging face in the mirror and can't believe. That line "How terribly strange to be 70" haunts me, as my husband will turn 61 this year. "Silently sharing the same fears." Simon is a freaking genius!
Me, too! It always reminded me of the similar gorgeous sustained violin note right after the witch turned the hourglass over and locked Dorothy in the castle. Remember?
I was listening to the album on sunday, and i finally realized that its two songs in one, kinda like "Have A Cigar" and "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. All amazing songs!
Thank you! I was in search of Bookends. I did not knoe that it was only a portion of a song. I am afraid to say it left me in tears. So much of my life has become dreams and faded photographs
I have only heard the bookends when it was on Girl Interruped. I am so glad that I have found this video that you have made. They have such beautiful music which makes me wish I was born in the 1960s instead I was born in 1977. : ) thank you for posting added this song to my fav list.
The lyrics, the melody... the poetry of Simon and Garfunkel touches the hearts. this is true music. The video is equally beautiful. Thanks for posting.
