I know this kind of ruins the whole video lol, but you're finger CROCHETING not knitting. Finger knitting is a bit different, but this is definitely finger crocheting.
It's called both, but more accurately Finger Crochet. Somehow people like saying "Finger Knitting" more. I always learned it that way and it got stuck ;)
Do you know what you call this sort of finger-knitting? Because when I search 'how to finger knit' or something, I always get answers for the other way. Thanks :)
LOL. Yarn inspector. You know...I think you are right...that is definitely what she considers herself. I can't use any yarn in the house without her inspecting it first!
Ignore the mean folks.. thanks for teaching me! I used to finger knit when I was a kid but didnt know I could do anything with them! Time to teach my kids now LOL. My mom would love those!!
This si an awesome video! I can make an awesome flower JUST like that cause of this video! You are awesome!!!! And whoever finger knited that like teh one who double finger knited everything and all is awesome cause i only know how to finger knit with ALL five of my fingers!! I REALLY WANT TO KNOW HOW WITH ONLY ONE FINGER!
Age 7 is ideal - most kids that age can do this. Sometimes I find kids that are 5 or 6 who can finger-knit and some of them can do the flowers...but that is rare.
Uh, duh,,,, doing it with your finger instead of a tool, that would be why the name, "finger knitting" or to make you feel better, "finger crochet". Is there a chance you could just have written, "good job" instead of making a comment on semantics?

no need to attack me, i only made the comment because there actually is something called finger knitting and this is definitely not it. besides, i complimented the idea anyway.
I can't crochet (well I'm trying to learn now!!) Where I live this is called finger knitting. I finger knitted balls and balls of the stuff when I was a kid. But I get your point that it produces a chain and not a knitted row.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Initially, "crochet" is the French NOUN for "hook". So you're right, strictly speaking, crochet is the tool, but I THINK the nature of the English language has led people to then call "crochet" the activity/ type of stitch that you get with a "crochet". I guess you could call it "knitting" with a crochet/hook, but still what people mean by "crochet" is more the particular type of work you get than the tool that is used to get it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
"Knitting" usually implies a different end result.
And here the finger IS used as a hook...
That's my humble analysis, I hope that it makes sense, and I'm only just guessing about the possible evolution of the term "crochet" in the English language, as I am only French, and 23 years-old !
Tell me something, when you eat, you call it eat, no spooning. When you use your finger, like a HOOK, is ok call it finger knitting. I dont pretend to be all right, but i think if i take a video of some activity i like to do, i can call it whathever i like. When you take the video call it croshiting.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I actually understood your point.
But if you want to take it that way then fine.
Oh and come to think of it, when I said crochet came from the French NOUN meaning "hook", I forgot that the French also ended up calling end result of crochetting "crochet" too.
Just so you know it.
Sorry for boring everybody else with this really ridiculous and pointless rant.
Tha't because i am part japanese, part apache, part tarahumara, part spanish, part italian, and part french. I know who i am, and i know you are only a little pile of nothing. Please, please PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE BE HAPPY!
Most importantly, you are the most ridiculously and stupidly offensive person I have gotten to talk to in a really very long time.
Just chill the beans and stop thinking that being aggressive to people for no reason makes you a cool interesting or a clever person.
If that is just the only way for you to feel "happy", or on top of things or something, then I'm really sorry for you and hope you that can get over the childhood trauma that made you like that.
Chill out, blow your mind, if it make you happy call it crochet, i will not waste my time on you. I never ofend you, you chose to feel ofended. So i forgive you. I'am not traying to know everything, i just express what i think about finger knitting. If you have something to tellme send me a personal message, dont make this WONDERFUL VIDEO a verdulera fight. I agree, if you're going to teach children how to do something, you ought to teach them the correct terms. This is crochet.
So I don't get jumped on too, I do want to say it's a great flower! One of the best I've seen after searching for a few hours tonight.

Crochet is the name of the tool. On this case she are using her finger, so we can name it FINGER KNITTING.
OMeisekiyume 3 years ago

no, crochet is the name of the activity. a crochet hook is the tool used. even if you use your fingers, it is still crochet.
i have been crocheting since i was a child, and i am also a knitter so i know what i am talking about.
finger knitting is something completely different that requires using four fingers. i'm sure you can find videos on youtube if you look it up.

And when you reply to someone on Youtube you hit the "reply" button, otherwise it's like to someone's back.
Anyway I was actually trying to nicely explain to you why people said it was crochetting.
In the English language, crochet is what you do with a crochet, as well as the crochet itself.
THAT's very easy to understand, wether it seems logical to you or not, it is a fact.
I was actually trying to say this in a nice way, as everybody else had just thumbed you down, whilst also showing that
