It seems to me that what we call stupid thinking by the auto execs is more likely the result of cross company investor interests. Meaning that the same massive investors in auto also invest in oil. Big cars use big oil. What other explaination besides stupidity could there be? We are sold the type of cars that auto wants to sell. They pick the cars and trucks they want to integrate in to movies and videos which drives consumer demand.

Unless the American auto industry can immediately bring on the next generation of economically sound & environmentally friendly automobiles- like the Smart Car & the Mini Cooper- they should fail.

They knew decades ago that they would be faced with the situation that they are dealing with, today; and didn't take the steps necessary to survive.

You don't reward such irresponsible behavior w/ billions of dollars in BAILOUT funds stolen from other people. It's criminal.

One payer system is the only way to go.

Private health insurance is a private tyranny that only exists in United States. It's a rather barbaric system that tells you you're health is only worth what you can afford.

People in United States should get behind, and support, HR 676. If you don't know what it is learn about it! GM & Ford are going bankrupt because of the rising cost of health care. If United States had single-payer system, the companies wouldn't have to worry about it.

One thing is for sure. Colombians are our best alies in Latin America and whatever we do must be of mutual benefit. Colombians could buy thousands of American cars only if the transactions could be facilitated (a trade aggrement is not obligatory to export to Colombia). Colombians do not want hand outs. They want an need fair and sustainable trade the same a the United States. Buy colombian products, and they will buy products made in the USA.

See what the auto industry did to Detroit? They took their jobs and moved away, leaving Americans poor and their asses in hand... (Roger and Me).

The Auto Industry systematically stole American electric train systems so we would be dependent on cars. (only the rich were buying) From Los Angeles to New York, they purchased our streetcars and trolleys, then dismantled them.

---Now they have the audacity to hope for those same Americans they betrayed to bail them out. I am outraged!!
