He sounded a bit of an idiot. Seriously how could he allowed a live pole to touch those lines if he'd been concentrating on his work? He was probably wolf whistling some school-girl and not paying attention. There's probably a lot more to this than they've told us, he was probably suffering a hang over from the night before, or texting on his phone and sending pictures of his John Thomas to some school-girl.
@angels77100 . This is not a common practice to let poles touch live lines. I take it you are not in this line of work or know nothing about it. To call this young man an idiot truly shows the kind of person you are. I don't know all the details of this job but it is fair to say there were some safety rules broken by the whole crew. If it weren't for people like this young man and myself a lineman of 13 years you wouldn't be able to turn on your computer to type these stupid comments.
@pavn. School would be pretty tough without power. Next time theres a storm and the power goes out, instead of whining your xbox doesnt work, try to imagine the guys out there rebuilding the lines. And yes they make good money. I'd be willing to bet half the people who commented on this video would never have half the balls to do this job
This is a lesson, I would have thought that a wooden pole would have enough resistance to insulate from fatal shock on a 14Kv line, there are details to this accident that should have been covered by a good reporter.
did someone in the background go " awwww" when the anchor announced this death? I am very sorry for this young man's death. My grandfather was electrocuted back in the 1940's in Sicily, he was on a trolley and was killed while trying to help passangers on the trolley that were complaining of being wet. It was raining out and he went on the top of the trolley with a canvas, which touched the electrical current. He was 43 years old.
MYsorry to hear about the loss of any good lineman, I send my thoughts to the family, and I know like all lineman who see this we are with you in spirit. God Rest him, and bless his family !!
It's people like him who put they're lives on the "LINE" everyday, just for us to use the internet, watch T.V. turn on a lamp, anything. R.I.P i don't even work there but still... R.I.P
@shakaron12342 It is sad, but they don't put their live on the line for us to use the internet, TV turn on a lamp etc... they put their lives on the line for the pay cheque. If you stopped paying them they wouldn't turn up.
@PAVN more then stay in school, most lineman have 4 year college degrees, I was educated threw IBEW, and did 7000 hour of linework, before becoming a lineman. Its being careful and accidents happen even walking across the street, So dont talk smack about a group of people that do this for a living, We keep your lights on too, smart ass
Linesmens and Jointers have a hard arse life, when i told my mother years ago i wanted to do an electrical apprenticeship (Instead of LAME) she basically begged me no to join Energex as a linesmen, hence i didnt,,,, thanks to all Linesmen and Jointers with Power Authoritys
Life as Lineman is tougher than anyone knows. When the shit hits the fan we brave the elements to get the power back on. I feel for the family of this young chap.RIP. From an Aussie Lineman who cares.
Sad. When putting in a new pole, every linemen knows not to put your hands on the ground copper wire that runs down the pole until the pole is secure in the ground and the lines are attached to the pole. Still, very sad.
who said he was touching the down ground? maybe he was in the clear and step potential got him. We can argue forever about it but we weren't there, we don't know what happened. let him rest.
I am so very sorry for your loss. My son is a lineman, you guys put your lives "on the line" each and every day. My heat goes out to you and your familes.
