I really like the cast in this movie. Jeremy Renner is in it! And Josh Holloway from Lost. Plus Simon Pegg is awesome and he's in it. I love when he does big budget films. Ensemble casts get me psyched to see films. The cast in Trespass is amazing with Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman, Cam Gigandet and Liana Liberato. Great films with those actors bouncing off each other. Second movie is really bad... really... and third movie is better than second, but not legendary and great like first.

This movie is like a U2 classic song: you can watch it over and over again and inject your own interpretations. Unlike any other movie I can think of--and it will never be done like this again I'm afraid. The public really like simple, straight forward stories with lots of action. On a slightly different movie; it's like comparing the original Alien with Alien2--the second being simpler with more aliens and things blowing up: making more money. The first, like 2001,ASO, is a classic period.

jim would never be a traitor. which is an insult to the fans of the tv series. de palma should have known better.

i understand thats what the last thing anyone would expect from jim in the film, but i still think it was a big mistake to use this as the plot line.

they should have stuck with the original premise of the tv series, as this is what made the programme so special.

if you change that, then it ceases to be mission impossible, and becomes just another non descript spy film

Second. They couldnt make an entire 2 hours movie just like a M:I show, i would have suck. For the premise of an episode its solid. But having a team making plans during an entire movie would be repetitive.

Loved M:I-1 and M:I-3. Both were generally faithful to the great TV series (except for the crazy villainization of Phelps in 1), using clever gambits, disguises, gizmos and fake-outs. MI-2 was ridiculous, had nothing to do with the Mission formula. I'd welcome another one, but please don't let John Woo near it (he directed 2).

I remember very well that season 1 episode where the gunfight at Eva Braun's tomb reveals the Nazi gold they're after is built into the walls of the tomb itself. I think the 2nd movie relied too much on Woo's tricks (they jump off their motorcycles to deliberately smash into each other in mid-air!), instead of a complex con like the series and movies 1&3.
