How do you design the sling to hold on to the ball for the upward acceleration, then let it fall off once it has momentum? Is it just pure centrifugal force that's "pushing" it off of the sling?

I'm trying to design a trebuchet, myself.

@Ownage2themax3 This piece of steel is not actually a nail because it is threaded on one end and bent

at 90 degrees. The threaded end passes through a small hole in the end of

the lever and is held on with a wingnut. It is easily adjusted by slightly

changing the angle and securing the wingnut.

@61sman16 just make a spud gun, will shoot a D size battery over a pylon and is only made from plastic bottle, 32mm dia pvc tube nd a bbq lighter

@61sman16 You can find the company at RLT dot COM. The model shown is called an F2K which means that it is an advancement of the FAT or Floating Arm Trebuchet. The F2K raises the throwing arm and counter weight up off of the track for greater distance. The current RLT model has additional features. I built their F2K kit and it throws a golf ball 300 feet with a 15 pound counter weight. F2K's also fire at Punkin Chunkin.

hahaha thats cool did you buy that or make it? me and my neighbor made one but instead of using a counterweight we used two garage door springs and the arm moves over 300 mph! hahahaha and the golfballs go over 500 ft!

@smallpaul1995 i made a spud gun from a 1.5 litre oasis bottle, 1 meter legnth of 32 dia tube nd a bbq lighter. it will shoot D size battery sideways thru 15mm plywood or shoot over a pylon

@hitoomats me and my neighbor designed it ourselves. and unfortunatly due to the EXTREME pressure the swinging arm was under everytime we cocked it, the arm snapped it half on our last launch!!:(((((((((((( solid oak split striaght in half!
