I tell her when to expect my call (3:20 on Wed). If she doesn't answer I leave a brief message. "Its 3:20 on Wed, you missed my call." That's it. I never call a 2nd time. Its on her now. I'm always collecting numbers so, I don't waste time on someone that is not available when she said she would be. Believe me men she got your message the 1st time so don't call and ask "did you get my message?" Only a chump says something like that.

I have to disagree with the eccentric Mr. skyjohn here. Bucking the 'rule' of not calling for a day or two and not showing interest in your actual interaction with the girl shows more about you and your non-needyness than the alternative.
