I think Disney should take a trip down here to listen to this song. I sure miss the old Disney movies, I can't even begin to say how much I wish they would make more like that. I disagree about the point on Brother Bear however, it's not as good as the classics but it was a very touching story. I loved the Princess and the Frog, and while it'll be a while before it can be called a "classic", it was definitely a step in the right direction.
Wait, Disney does graphics on a pc, not a mac? Wow. You may own the market in graphics, but not if disney doesn't think so. And I would have thought Steve jobs would have done something about about concidering he was on the board of directors!
I agree with the song. I mean, most of their 3D stuff wasn't good, but "The Princess And The Frog" was brilliant! Oh, I didn't realized I'd already commentted.
@kayishoriginal Disney Toon puts no effort into their films and is treated with a very low budget, showing that even the disney executives don't think they have a chance.
Awww...love it! It's such a cute song, and I totally agree. As far as I'm concerned, the Disney Renessaince will always be remembered as the best time for Disney films, apart from some of the 50s films like "Alice In Wonderland" and "Lady And The Tramp" (which I like because it's SO romantic).
I agree with you, but I think that you are being a little harsh on Brother Bear. It wasn't the best Disney movie but it wasn't lame either. Disney should go back to 2D but CGI Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons were pretty good movies in my opinion. But I miss the cartoon animated movies.
@LadyJuse If you compair Brother Bear to the earlier Disney which is better? No one says OH my favorite movie is Brother Bear. But I can say my favorite Movie is Aladdin :)
I really like the Princess and the Frog, and Rapu-I mean 'Tangled"-actually looks like it might shape into a good film (despite marketing and CGI). Lovin the look for that film!:D
@fuzzyeyebrown13 So do I. Disney should definitely have the guts to go back to their old, charitable selves, because we've been begging like homeless people for them to do so!
Okay, while I do prefer the 2D Disney movies, not all their CGI films were horrible. I mean, Meet the Robinsons wasn't that bad and Bolt was actually pretty good. Not as good as most of the 2D films but better than Dinosaur.
Maybe Brother Bear wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It was mediocre at best. And of course we're critical, especially toward Disney. Since Disney set the standard we're going to judge them more harshly by it.
I agreed with very much of your song except for your diss on Brother Bear. Brother Bear was an EXCELLENT and under rated movie. Besides that your song was excellent :D
I must admit, when you first played me this song, all those months ago, I didn't like it. Maybe it's the witty slideshow, maybe it's the decent recording equipment, I don't know. But now I love it. Keep up the good work!
Wall-E was from Pixar, which is why it was good (I freakin' love Pixar). Disney Animation Studios, however, have been churning up a lot of poor CGI efforts, such as their latest film G-Force.
Pixar is a branch of Disney (they used to be independent 'til Disney bought them).
What Paul is singing about is the former Disney Animation Studios, which was responsible for all the famous animated films back in the hay day. Recently, they've been doing subpar CGI films like the Hamster movie and Bolt.
The easiest way to say it is this: Pixar produces movies totally separately from Disney intervention, and Disney does all of Pixar's promotion and merchandise. It doesn't touch the product itself at all.
Pixar started as a separate company that teamed with Disney and now Disney has bought and the guy in charge of Pixar is now in charge of the animation department of Disney
amazing! some of the new disney stuff is okay, but where's the dumbo, little mermaid, and seven dwarfs of this generation? no wonder kids bring guns to school these days. *joke!* =]
Oh, don't get me wrong - I love Pixar (apart from Cars - that one was a bit lame). But, so far, I'm yet to see a 3D film come out of Disney's studios that matches the majority of their 2D output in the 90s.
@Kysentha Yeah, I agree. However, their 3D films-well most of them-are good and all animation is overseen by Pixar co-founder Lasseter, who managed to almost single-handedly keep Meet the Robinsons from becoming a disaster. Not a mindless worhip statement. It's a true one.
However, Disney is (hopefully) coming back. Princess and the Frog (like you said), Tron, Alice in Wonderland, Rapunzel...all those look like they'll be good.
I completely agree. That is why I'm so excited about "The Princess and the Frog" too. All we can do is hope, right? I miss the good old days of hand-drawn animation. It had a lot of heart in it.
Yeah - it's not just that 2D animation looks brilliant, it was about the amount of effort they put into each film. That just doesn't seem to happen any more
LOVE the slideshow =) No wonder it was taking you so long to edit!
And yes, I totally agree. The Disney producers can't get it into their heads thattheir audience abandoned them when their stories became so lazy, not because they got ored of 2-D animation. Lazy storytelling with badly made computer animation is even much worse. Thank goodness for Lasseter, and genius Pixar people like Brad Bird!
I totally agree. Back when Disney was good the could even do the swedish dubbing good. The Lion King is the only non-swedish movie I can see in swedish.
And, I love the song, it will probably be stuck in my head as well :P
yaaay, good song. :) Though... it may be irrelevant to the rather amusing argument...but I know Aladdin and The Lion King are both computer animated movies, despite appearing in 2D animation. :( Don't punch me! haha
You two are so fussy... yes, technically every Disney film after about 1992 is computer animated. The difference is the amount of effort put into the films though - after 2000 Disney just stopped putting the work in on the 2D films because new technology was prized over storytelling. =(
they are going back to 2D this Christmas with "The Princess and the Frog." So hopefully that'll usher back an era of wonder for the kiddies and us big kids too!

Has anyone pointed out yet that Pixar is just a division of Disney? It is completely owned by Disney last I checked

It was a good film that.

They've already announced another 2D film: a Winnie the Pooh movie. Hopefully it's based on the old 2D series, not the new one.

@TedieJena531 It will be like the old 2D Pooh cartoons.

You're a guy who compose a song dedicated to how Disney should go back 2-D. The son is clever, AND you sang it well.
Guess what?

Tapperlisa 2 years ago
Though from what I understand Rapunzel isn't really 2-D, but 3-D stylized to look like 2-D
Which is interesting... silly Disney. They should stick to the basics, they're so good at them!

I must confess I don't know much about their Rapunzel adaptation... I should go investigate *runs to Wikipedia*

And that was just because it was such delicious satire-y, 4th-wall-breaking goodness.
