  • I love her too. I remember having an Airfix kit when I was a lad. And sometimes I can see her taking off from Brno Int'l airport, making horrible noise! I hope some of them will survive!!!

    Foxtrot Juliet, CZ

  • pity about the silly propeller plane in the background

  • woooooooooow 4 juiced up conways great sight

  • So graceful! Are any of the still flying in 2011?

  • wish that light aircraft in the background would shut up!

  • Air force Passengers aircraft?

  • @sam9524 it is used in both transport and air to air refuelling

  • it's not really a taxpayer's role during bad economic times to preserve outdated aircraft so enthusiasts can watch them at air shows. Get together and buy it if you're interested in that.

  • @weversonman Is it the taxpayer's role to pay for scrapping these aircraft and buy American hand-me-downs to replace them? Because that's what's happening (same as with the Nimrod MRA4).

  • @turricaned What hand me downs are we getting for the Nimrod ????

  • @MrCagivaman RC-135 RIVET JOINT, from what I read at the time...

  • my Dad loved being on one of those planes when he was in the forces.

  • Was privileged to spend a morning over the North Sea in a VC10 a few years ago, refuelling Tornados. Lovely comfy old girl, the pilots loved her to bits and one of them was not looking forward to going out to the States for training on the C17 before they brought the first ones over. Long may the joy of Conways shake the Oxfordshire countryside!

  • WHAT a beautiful plane; I cant believe they are almost 50 years old now. Long live the Vickers VC-10.

  • Pretty quiet plane considering it's 40+ years old.

  • @scaremenga lol nah its loud.

  • If at least three of these birds are NOT preserved in airworthy condition, I will come and spray paint the UK's defense ministers cat PINK ! ......and THEN I will write to the editor of a Big Newspaper telling everyone how UN British he ( she ) is.

    And I am a KIWI !

  • Nice

  • Beautiful bird, so unique nowadays.

  • someone can tell me some flights this aircraft do

  • mmm, you can see that beautiful black smoke coming out the engines

  • saw one of these take off from BHX a month or so back, it set car alarms off in the long stay carpark it was so loud. Wonderful

  • Yikes! Are they STILL flying these antiquities?

  • Hey, they're classic aircraft now you know! The RAF can't carry on with them for much longer, there are so many noise bans on this old bird, she can only use military airfields in the USA. Those four Conway engines were cutting edge in their day, but very dated now.

A VC10 was used as the test bed for the RB211 engine, the remains of the airframe are in the Movements School hanger at Brize, it being a cut down version it's nick named the VC5.

  • NICE ! ! !

  • i guess these will be retired by 9/10 years? :(

  • They're due to retire in 2012 and replaced by Airbus A330s :(

  • im jealous of my dad who flew on these for a living :L

  • flew on one to germany, the seats faced the back. good vid

  • Wow it's almost noisy like a TU-134.....

    Nice plane and engine sound!

  • Yeah totaly, I hate how they need to start making the engines Quieter!

  • OOh the sound of 4 Rolls-Royces!!

  • who said the two extras weren't necessary

  • I flew on one when I was a kid. Now I live in Calgary Alberta, and saw one a few months ago preparing for take off. Fantastic!

  • trust me guys you'd have a different perspective if you were doing an DNT strip on the underside of the wings at 2 in the bloody morning!

  • DNT strip?

  • Awesome jet! Wish I could've taken a ride in one before.

  • a classic aircraft and still in use great stuff

  • still, i recon they have got a few more years to run

  • 2014 retire date

  • at the end of the day this is very old technology,an aircraft that dates from the early 1960`s but it has served the RAF with distinction and it is a shame they are being gradually retired but I guess that`s progress.

  • fantastic, love those rolls royce conways, cant get enough of that sound!!!

  • Shes Beautiful, Shame the RAF are slowly getting rid of there VC10's, Would be a shame to see her in the scrap Yard, Such a Beautiful Aircraft deserves so much better.

  • she isnt going to be scrapped, 2 are becoming gate guards and one is to go to duxford
