OMG!! That's horrible!! I hope that poor little kid is okay..
But what I don't understand at all is why are the parents sueing CC? I mean, in the end, they are the ones who pick the au pair. They look the au pair's app, her pictures, her info... and they invite the AP to go to their home... so, the negligence is their fault, not CC's...
C C uses ANY excuse it can to hold au pair's deposits, make them pay for flights, puts them in unfair situations and uses their clout to bully these young girls. As a host parent, they don't do anything to help you - even if the problem is that CC did not properly process their insurance!!! One girl is in rematch and nobody is paying her vacation and CC isn't doing a thing to ensure that she gets paid AS PER HER CONTRACT. Once they get you the company is lazy and does whatever it can for a buck.
I am currently an au pair with cultural care and am having an amazing experience. ppl who are saying that they take money and refuse to refund... u dont pay any money until you have been finalised with a family/ au pair. Every au pair who i know is also having an amazing experience and like someone said... how does this have anything to do with cultural care. any agency could have sent this girl andhad this happen cultural care has a thorough screening process... i have been through it so i no
Cultural care is a SCAM and criminals! They take appox. $7000 from family and tell them they are getting au pair who will babysit for 45h/week. Then they take money from au-pair candidate and tell her that she will have a vacation in the US. Cultural care will hire anybody, literarly anybody; they use children of US families to get to their parents pockets. They do not screen the candidates and on line profiles are bogus. They will never refund money if you leave the program. STAY AWAY!!!!
This could have happened with any other caretaker, a nanny, a babysitter, family members... Au Pair agencies are required to follow Department of State guidelines for the program. Stop blaming Cultural Care, they have a very thorough screening, interview and training process. They have been an agency for over 20 years and their $7,095 annual program fee is the lowest compared to other au pair agencies.
Having been given three consecutive, and horrific "Matches" after forking up the thousands of dollars to this Agency, a 2nd time, we were given zero recourse, and to date, no refund. SHAME to any who criticized this Family,.........WHAT IF IT WERE YOUR CHILD!!!! They hide behind one another. Those who jump down our throat for speaking out against this Agency, are going to be damned sure they just get someone to do their chauffeuring, and supervisor so they can get out. WHO IS THE NEW CEO??
Rayne: I am appalled that you didn't tell the whole picture: You have FREE Room and Board on top of a State Dept. mandated "stipend" Nannies are licensed professionals, but have to pay their own expenses (car, Soc. Security, etc.) Meanwhile, you have services of an LCC who shows you area meetings and fun events. Why trash something and not tell the whole story. I have met nothing but receptive and intelligent CCAP people. Diane.Merrillcc
well... fox is pretty dull media. btw. who does not take pictures of their naked kids. it is a pretty sensitive topic but in europe, kids under the age of 3-5 go swimming while being naked. it is so normal! there are even pictures of myself being naked, when i was 5 years old. however, everbody who WANTS to be an au pair, knows how much the salary per week is (right now it's 197$) and what the conditions are, so don't blame the agency, if you are not happy with that, rayne!
This is a very sad situation but there is no company that is able to screen an au pair that intense that they would find out these kind of problems before hand. I was an au pair with cultural care for 2 years and i absoloutely adored my children, probably loved them like my own and miss them everyday. This is one out of thousands and im sure it is very rare.
cultural care sucks, they don't care about the families, they don't care about au-pairs either, all they care about is how to get their money, think about it, 7000$ agency fees a family has to pay to get an au-pair, how much does the aupair get???? 178$ a week! 45 hours, with today's economy, while a salary of a live-in nanny is 500+ a week. think about it, it is a rip off
That actually isn't true. A parent pays $1,000 in agency fees and te Au Pair receives between $350-800/week. for 35-45 hours.
I am a nanny. I make $400/week after taxes. Depending on where you live, this could be really good or really bad. I don't live in L.A., D.C., NYC, Chicago, or Miami. For where I live, $400/week is really good. You really should know your facts before you post.
tell you what, it is true. the fee that a family from "cultural care aupair" has to pay to get an au pair is 7000$,for 1 year the aupair gets weekly 180$. i know, i'm with them, and that''s for 45 hours a week. u do the math. maybe for american nannies it is different, but not for international au-pairs. we are considered cheap. and one more time, i know my facts, i am an aupair with cultural care so i more then any other know what i'm talking about.
RayneMarina you are absolutely right, iam an AuPair with CC to and it is not exactly a fortune we can make for what we work.
Also Nannys usually get more considered how many kids they take care of, we don't! Cultural Care absolutley sucks and i know many Au Pairs in this Agency who faked their Childcare Experience just to come to the US.
Puting your child under someone else's care doesn't mean you are bad parents! It's hard to have a good life now so for get money you need to work!! If you want your children to go in a good school and have a great futur you have to work even harder!
When you have children, the most important thing that you can give them, is you love and your TIME!! Not material things. Raise them yourself, forget fancy houses and cars, and make the world a better place.
I wasn't talking about making money to get rich. I agree with you when you say that love is the most important thing a child must get but as a nanny I see parents working hard and rushing home to see their kids and they are very good parents! I just wanted to say that parents who have a nanny are not bad parents!! Some are of course but not all of them.
think about it!! Tiaree is right, parents need to work to give a good life to their kids... it's better to get a nanny to care your children than leave them alone in ur house. Of course, kids need love, but they also need a place to live and food to eat, a good school to go... and that isn't paid with love and time... Parents who work aren't bad parents... not all of them...
OMG!! That's horrible!! I hope that poor little kid is okay..

these parents are careless about their children, and they can't expect to pay to someone to love their children...let's be real!Logical!

How about people taking care of thier own children? Cut back on expenses, and stay at home to be a mother.

People that are able to "afford" a live in Nanny.. would most likely be able to "afford for one parent to stay at home and raise the children.

I am so sorry to see that yet another family has been affected by the negligence and lack of screening by Cultural Care. This is truly horrifying.
