I have Hover Flies all through my garden. Dozens of them. My favourite game is to try and walk right up to them when they are hovering in the air. A little trick you can try is to throw a small object past then when they are hovering and they will chase the object. They are fun to watch and interact with.
This is one of your nicest nature videos because of the colors and camera angles.. and the bee of course. Are you using a different camera? The picture is clear.
Same camera for awhile now, at least all the videos with the letterbox appearance. I think the single color background and the fly not moving so much helped with the clarity.
This is wonderful. If you have to know how many times I've "camped" out or chased after bees, bumble bees especially (I love them), with my camera and macro lens... very hard to capture when you need them to be completely still. Thanks for sharing.
I believe you are correct. I appreciate your answer. The only thing I came up with was yellow jacket hover fly, but I didn't think it was a perfect match to any other photos I have seen.
I'm happy to be of assistance! I wasn't sure of the english word for it, in Sweden we call them blomsterfluga (flower/floral fly), but after checking up the latin word I found it in english. :) Take care.
Oh I love that tiny sound it makes on the flower

I would say Syrphus or a near Genus.

I wish I could be of assistance with that one. Looks like a yellow jacket to me, but I'm not good with such things. I hope you find out what it is!
