Even though I'm a very conservative skydiver. I think I can understand much of where this guy is coming from. There is one thing about his attempted wingsuit landing that I don't quite see. The PC model of his extravagant chute/runway is costly & rare. Is not the aim to be able to land w/o such aids? How about developing some type of landing gear/harness w/pea gravel @the end (of runway) to decelerate. If you need that huge chute? It's a one-off trick.

put it this way. When professional superbike riders come off their bikes they hit the ground going a lot faster then 100mph.he could even land on a steep snow slope. If he just wears some good protective gear and lands on a smooth ramp he will be fine. I'm more amazed that noone has managed to land a wingsuit yet.

the problem should be the vertical speed and body position. Ofcourse you will slide, but that really doesnt help much if you smashed on impact. On a superbike, until the moment you fall of, your only movement is horizontal, falling off really dont give you much vertical speed.

A wingsuiter comes down with a good deal of vertical speed. You come down at the wrong angle, youre dead. A superbiker thats thrown of high before sliding is bound to break something.

I completely believe it is possible to land with a runway. Some water slides reach 60 miles per hour. Jeb will need to slow down from twice that speed. You actually stay slow on a water slide because the water holds you back. Water will reduce friction and heat. Simply introduce more and more water to the slide as he goes down the landing ramp and it will slow him down. It's simple.

I think he's clear headed about what he is doing...he's fully aware of the risks and he has made peace with the whole thing with his sister etc...who are supportive and understand where he is at. Note also that he doesn't seem to have a wife/girlfriend and child. Both of them know the risks involved in doing something like that and accept those risks.
