  • Beautiful woman. Beautiful cinematography and set design. I love the colors, the atmosphere.

  • Absolute Spitze! Die Röck ist nach wie vor unerreicht!

Auch damals gab es schon Profis!

Tolles Video! Danke!

geh dich informieren, bevor du scheiße laberst, du manipuliertes medienopfer!

  • @38MillionDeadPoles

  • Marika is wonderful, dancing dream, colour stunning, studio orchestra swings up storm, love it, she sure rates with me.

  • As Ginger Rogers said of Fred Astair: ' I did what he did, only backwards, and in three inch heels'...

  • Goof: In the second 49, when he raises his arms.. look at his back. The jacket 's armhole is too small for him and the back becomes full of wrinkles!

  • Ich hatte es nicht bemerkt! Ich wette dass wenn der Tanzer geklagt haette, jemand sagt genau wie wir damals in England: "There's a war on, you know"

    Wunderbar!

  • Can someone translate these lyrics, more or less?

  • The scene is much longer (actually 9 minutes) and is actually a dream.

In this final part of the scene, he wakes up, she arrives

and he tells her he's been looking for her everywhere.

When she asks if it's true he says, in all his dreams

    he's been looking for her

Then she forbids him to dream of her.

Unless, they both dream together. Then, she starts singing:

  • SHE I am waiting for you You are my happiness My heart is calling you, you and only yoy HE You do know The only strive in my life is That you become the woman of all my dreams SHE I am waiting for you Life will become nicer for me Only with you, with you

  • ART IMITATES ART! A good deal of Hollywood's talent was forced to flee Nazi domination and brought their talents with them. Literature and art can be repressed, but can never be dictated. IMITATION, THE HIGHEST FORM OF FLATTERY!

  • Discovering scenes from German musicals from the '30s and '40s on YouTube has been a revelation to me. In this period, the Nazis were denouncing American culture and prohibiting US music and films, while at the same time they were producing movies that were EXACTLY like Hollywood films!

  • She was to the Germans what Rita Hayworth was to the US in the war years between 1940 and 1945. A talented dancing and singing actress that let the soldiers forget the terrible war.I even think this movie copied

quite a lot from Hayworth´s "Cover Girl" realized exactly the same year ( 1943 ).

Goebbels had spies in the US and loved American movie stars and films.

She even has Hayworths red hair here !!!

  • Does anybody please can tell - how to get in the internet English or German subtitles (or script) of this film?

Unfortunately there is no official DVD release of this brilliant comedy with subtitles. Strange but true.

And thanks for posting the clip!

  • I can't help you with finding subtitles, but the gist of this scene is simply that she's "the woman of his dreams", a la the movie's title, "The Woman of my Dreams". The dialog isn't much more than that.

In the overall movie she falls in love with an engineer, who disapproves of her theater profession. She gives it all up to marry him. (Not the guy here.) This number is the grand finale of the movie.

  • Thank you for your answer. I have seen this film on TV and in cinema. Now I have "official DVD" which (surprise, surprise) has NO SUBTITLES AT ALL! I know the general line of story, but there are so many humorous scenes, that has to be understood precisely!

I have experience with finding "difficult subtitles" in internet, but this just seems to be another X-file :)

  • schoenes lied!

  • Unvergessliche Marika, auch hier in Portugal.

  • Mein absoluter Lieblingsfilm von Marika Rökk. Hab den schon 1000x gesehen.

  • Die bei uns fast vergessene Ungarin...

  • Ein Traum!!!

  • Thank you for this short, very nice number!
