Man, when I read the name: Salman Khan... I thought very questionably like why would he - i mean he that guy from Bollywood who sold ammunition (sp?) to the Russians and got jail time for it now here?
Kerckhoff is just dead wrong. I've been in school about 14 years now & i've never had ANY relationship - in any sense of the word - with any teacher i've ever had. And I don't even know what he means by "educate deeply", but literally more often than not, the teacher is an obstacle to my own learning, a necessary evil.
dont be surprised if Khan gets killed, hes capable of being the single handed source of the downfall of the elites power structure. 3:05. hes absolutely right. But then Jonny Rockefeller, Billy Morgan, Georgie Bush and the like wont be able to gain power on inherited name and connections. The future looks bright as long as it remains on its current course. I agree with yootoob23......Think of creating an army of advance professional in every field without the hassles of money and credentials and of course no one can say i didn't get the opportunity.....our world will be free from people who get burnt-out during the long process of career making....a revolution to promote global peace and harmony.

there is one salman khan inspiring people to grow extra musculature and move around life with unnecessary, redundant flesh. and here is this salman who inspires budding brains to learn and carry that extra necessary neural connections and move about in life. this guy deserves bigger fan clubs than that self mutiliating, funny shirt wearing , black buck hunting, pavement dweller killing, showing off charity making, being huan acting movie star. its time for the world to change its celebrities.
I have been forwarding links to his site to my friends on facebook, and asking them to pass along to any students in their lives. Great thing to do. Spread the ability to learn, change the world!
I just wanted to say that you can love khan's videos, without having to post how much you hate academics.
It's also frustrating when to see comments which don't go with the flow (such as DEBROXBEBROX's) get marked as spam. There's no reason to mark it as spam. If you are open-minded, you'd read it and leave it alone, at the least.
I don't get why khan's videos are filled with anti-academia comments. You can't test how much the viewers retain knowledge, and there's only so much a few minutes of video can cover on a topic. I use these videos to review and they're great. But the rhetoric I see from commenters is getting old.
I think it's a bit farfetched to say online tutorials (or whatever they may end up becoming in the future) will replace universities in prestige or in what employers are searching for. With these videos, you can really master the basics, but that has nothing to do with doctorate research, for example, or with talking one-on-one with a respected expert from your field of study via college.
What the critic says in theory is great, though sadly most teacher's dont play by that book so in the "real world" im still happy to be stuck with khan academy.
That's what I dont like students my age say they need hands on learning but that's because they are lazy and spend the whole class time not paying attention,I don't believe in hands on I listen and learn(for critics like Bruce),but I like what Khan is doing here.
That Guy who's a critic of Khan academy should be shot, What a complete nark, I recently passed my maths for scientists exam because of khan videos, not the lectures. Khan makes it feel like one-on-one learning, so most of the critics points are invalid, basically he should shut the fuck up, Khan is AWESOME!
Sal should replicate himself 10 times and each Sal teaching different areas such as arts, sciences, humanities etc and force everyone to watch the videos and there is no doubt humans will be the most advanced civilization in the universe in no time.
@yootoob23 well, he has now gotten ViHart on board, which is sorf of like a hyperactive Sal that likes to doodle and loves fractals and patterns. I expect to see great things come of their collaboration.
who pressed the dislike button???? r u crazy?? seriously.....this guy is trying to revolutionize virtual learning and u go n press the dislike button? :P
I seldom donate monetarily to anything but after I watched a few of his videos I donated what I could, to this life changing resource. His teaching videos can be used to educate the world. I appreciate the videos he did on Chemistry and Physics, very helpful to me.
I suppose there is an education revolution coming, and I would very much like to be a part of it. I started my college wanting to be a teacher, but what I have seen (the education system), has made me think twice about it. But, with such people like Sal and a few others online, I can do this by myself and not need to degrade myself going through the system.
As I have always said, the term "tutor" is a politically deceptive word meant to separate and make a teacher important and the so called tutor less important. Yes, class interaction between students is important and so is hands-on experience. However, many times (almost infinite) that the teacher-student relationship is lacking, thus I ask what's the point of going to school (wasting gas, food and other resources) when you can get a better understanding seating at home and online.
By the way, I’ll admit, I went through a lot of delusion and deceit to find this channel. I used to be a fundamental doomsday fanatic for luckily, only two years; that is until science and reason saved my soul; namely Sam Harris, this guy (Salman Khan), and Carl Sagan. If it weren’t for them, I’d still be failing school and contemplating myths and fables – a big thanks to those three people for saving my soul.
I always thought I was just inherently bad at math. Thank you Khanacademy for helping me realize that the sub par education I was receiving from my teachers was responsible for my academic shortcomings, rather than any intellectual deficiencies.
@angrywinds Yep, only ten months ago I couldn’t even add negative numbers or multiply fractions, but now I’m studying linear algebra and differential equations – I just recently finished watching the entire calculus playlist. I was always interested in learning about the Universe and how reality ACTUALLY operates (religion, myths, and pseudo sciences, step aside); it took me a while to find my “home”, but when I discovered and became engaged in the Khan Academy, I knew that I finally found it.
People are paying tens of thousands of dollars to go to universities to listen to a person speak about a subject only to return home to study that subject for 3+ hours. Khan Academy is the true meaning of education. It is not being shoved down anyone's throat. You're not being forced to learn from Sal. Everything is voluntary and as a student I know much more information than 90% of my peers in class, usually getting one of the highest scores in class but wasting 6.5 hrs in school.
Hay Sal, why did you remove your video on 2-D accretion disks. I learned a lot from that video and I thought you explained it very well. Given the particles in the system have the proper angular velocity, they will orbit around the star – too much, they’ll slingshot away, too little, they’ll simply accelerate into the star. And over time, these particles which have a proper angular velocity will essentially orbit in the same direction as the dominant mass in stellar remnants of the system.
Yes, we need to get rid of college credentials. This type learning is the future, especially for autistic people like me. I hate group learnings, I could never focus in class, or the pace was too fast. We should figure out how to give credentials to people who study online.
I have to agree, I barely listened to just one of your lectures and truly began to learn about biology. In all my classes I have been passing but never retaining the info which for college standards is just fine, they want their money and for you to have an A in the class your in at the time but besides that it doesnt matter if you truly learn... To them that is!
@iReACTiiOnZxX Haha, you like butting in to other people's business, don't you? And I know you want to sound clever by using big words but I think in this context it just doesn't make any sense my monkey friend. Maybe you should go back to colouring books! You must be the fourth or fifth idiot to bother me this week on this video alone, and now would you like to elucidate where you want me to go? See it makes sense when I use it, you moron!
@iReACTiiOnZxX That's great, but remember to stay in the lines, and no Xbox for you until you've finished your homework! You don't want to give Mr. Bredrick another excuse to fuck you.
@iReACTiiOnZxX Oh no, I couldn't afford crayola, they're too overpriced and frankly, it's just a brandname. I'll just get you the supermarket's own brand. They do the same job. OK pumpkin?
@S1CKDRIFT3R I wonder what would science's future hold if we had people like you. By the way, why profanity when you can write like a civilized person?
@lib3rated Its actually my final year studying physics in uni you nut. I'll be a fully qualified physicist in a years time, and you're wondering where the future of science is? I'm part of it you moron! And as for being civilised? It's fucking youtube, not a conference for the UN. You teabag!
@kevkool230 Yeah because all physicists are exactly the same and we say the exact same things regardless of where we are in the world. You moron! And what the fuck is this, why is every sucker watching this video attacking me just because I copied and pasted pi for a joke. It's like being attacked by politicians. And just to end. You are a used piece of toilet paper.
@lib3rated Haha, people like you amuse me so much, " Oh , look at me, I spell everything perfectly on youtube because it makes me feel superior and people don't have to know what an actual loser I am". And just for your clarification, UN is just as satisfactory as U.N. and is used more frequently even on the UN website you moron. So check before you try ating smart. Next time you go on the internet to look at gay porn you should check it out.
@lib3rated Haha, well you're entitled to your own opinion. All I can say is, " I think, therefore I am". And actually as I am alive, ergo I have a life. Regardless of how dull or boring it is.
@S1CKDRIFT3R sure you're a fully qualified physicist. Right. You're inability to make a coherent argument and the fact that you can only make your point by calling other people names and using strings of profanity begs to differ. Trying to convince others you are a "fully qualified physicist" isn't working.
Intelligent, educated people don't speak the way you do. But nice try.
@ramrants HAHA, I like people like you, people with no lives who try the very best to sound intelligent on YOUTUBE! I couldn't care less what you think, I know what I am, I don't need to convice you. You're a nobody. But nice try though.
@ramrants Because someone needed to tell you your opinion doesn't count for anything, you're family and friends(if you have any) are probably too polite to say it to you so I thought I'll do it for them. Idiot.
@S1CKDRIFT3R and yet, you comment again and exhibit even more maturity than the first..."fully qualified physicist"? I think my point here has been made. Thanks for playing.
@ramrants Then why are YOU replying to my comments? And as I recall it was you who butted in in the first place, why does it bother you so much that I'm much smarter than you? You really haven't even got an ounce of logic in you, if you ask me a question then aren't I bound to reply, regardless of how stupid it may be? I think I have proven my point. Thanks for playing. Please feel free to comment back on how much you hate that fact that I'm studying Physics.
@S1CKDRIFT3R yeah, you are so much smarter than EVERYONE. What are you, Donald Trump's little brother? I bow to your Yooooooooooge brain. I can't compete.
I think there's going to be some very smart people in the future with sites like KhanAcademy and Wikipedia on tap. You can learn a lot about subjects so easily now meaning some people who have an aptitude will be amazing. They'll be the innovators of the future.
Whoever edited the video should understand that most people can't pay full attention to a person talking, while reading something else at the same time.
Man, when I read the name: Salman Khan... I thought very questionably like why would he - i mean he that guy from Bollywood who sold ammunition (sp?) to the Russians and got jail time for it now here?

I really admire you Sal, but those last bits of the interview were kind of scary.

I have to agree, I barely listened to just one of your lectures and truly began to learn about biology. In all my classes I have been passing but never retaining the info which for college standards is just fine, they want their money and for you to have an A in the class your in at the time but besides that it doesnt matter if you truly learn... To them that is!

@S1CKDRIFT3R No, it's 3.14 seconds long, we didn't ask for a, 'copied and pasted' Pi.
iReACTiiOnZxX 1 year ago 4
@iReACTiiOnZxX No, it's 194 seconds long, but I agree with your sentiment.

@S1CKDRIFT3R It amuses me, that no one that has commented on this video appreciates your elucidation. Go away please.
iReACTiiOnZxX 1 year ago
@iReACTiiOnZxX Haha, you like butting in to other people's business, don't you? And I know you want to sound clever by using big words but I think in this context it just doesn't make any sense my monkey friend. Maybe you should go back to colouring books! You must be the fourth or fifth idiot to bother me this week on this video alone, and now would you like to elucidate where you want me to go? See it makes sense when I use it, you moron!
S1CKDRIFT3R 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R It makes sense and you know it. And I love my colouring books.
iReACTiiOnZxX 1 year ago
@iReACTiiOnZxX That's great, but remember to stay in the lines, and no Xbox for you until you've finished your homework! You don't want to give Mr. Bredrick another excuse to fuck you.
S1CKDRIFT3R 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R Oh darn, we wouldn't be wanting that now, would we? I need a new packet of crayons though, Crayola preferably.
iReACTiiOnZxX 1 year ago
@iReACTiiOnZxX Oh no, I couldn't afford crayola, they're too overpriced and frankly, it's just a brandname. I'll just get you the supermarket's own brand. They do the same job. OK pumpkin?
S1CKDRIFT3R 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R I'm allergic to pumpkin.

@S1CKDRIFT3R Science is elegant. ~3.14 is enough.

@lib3rated Calm down, it was just a joke. You don't have to be so uptight. Jackass...
S1CKDRIFT3R 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R I wonder what would science's future hold if we had people like you. By the way, why profanity when you can write like a civilized person?
lib3rated 1 year ago 2
@lib3rated Its actually my final year studying physics in uni you nut. I'll be a fully qualified physicist in a years time, and you're wondering where the future of science is? I'm part of it you moron! And as for being civilised? It's fucking youtube, not a conference for the UN. You teabag!
S1CKDRIFT3R 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R bluff. none of the grad student physicists i work with say "fully qualified physicist". just sounds pretty gay
kevkool230 1 year ago
@kevkool230 Yeah because all physicists are exactly the same and we say the exact same things regardless of where we are in the world. You moron! And what the fuck is this, why is every sucker watching this video attacking me just because I copied and pasted pi for a joke. It's like being attacked by politicians. And just to end. You are a used piece of toilet paper.
S1CKDRIFT3R 1 year ago
@kevkool230 lol, true.
lib3rated 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R I think you meant "U.N." not "UN."
lib3rated 1 year ago
@lib3rated Haha, people like you amuse me so much, " Oh , look at me, I spell everything perfectly on youtube because it makes me feel superior and people don't have to know what an actual loser I am". And just for your clarification, UN is just as satisfactory as U.N. and is used more frequently even on the UN website you moron. So check before you try ating smart. Next time you go on the internet to look at gay porn you should check it out.
S1CKDRIFT3R 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R To be honest, I agree with what you said in the latest comment, but I still think you need to get a life.
lib3rated 1 year ago
@lib3rated Haha, well you're entitled to your own opinion. All I can say is, " I think, therefore I am". And actually as I am alive, ergo I have a life. Regardless of how dull or boring it is.
Cheerio!
S1CKDRIFT3R 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R Every person is hidden under his speech! Since you'll be a physicist soon, I don't have to go too far to explain it to you.
lib3rated 1 year ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R sure you're a fully qualified physicist. Right. You're inability to make a coherent argument and the fact that you can only make your point by calling other people names and using strings of profanity begs to differ. Trying to convince others you are a "fully qualified physicist" isn't working.
Intelligent, educated people don't speak the way you do. But nice try.
ramrants 10 months ago
@ramrants HAHA, I like people like you, people with no lives who try the very best to sound intelligent on YOUTUBE! I couldn't care less what you think, I know what I am, I don't need to convice you. You're a nobody. But nice try though.
S1CKDRIFT3R 10 months ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R then why did you respond to my comment?
ramrants 10 months ago
@ramrants Because someone needed to tell you your opinion doesn't count for anything, you're family and friends(if you have any) are probably too polite to say it to you so I thought I'll do it for them. Idiot.
S1CKDRIFT3R 10 months ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R and yet, you comment again and exhibit even more maturity than the first..."fully qualified physicist"? I think my point here has been made. Thanks for playing.
ramrants 10 months ago
@ramrants Then why are YOU replying to my comments? And as I recall it was you who butted in in the first place, why does it bother you so much that I'm much smarter than you? You really haven't even got an ounce of logic in you, if you ask me a question then aren't I bound to reply, regardless of how stupid it may be? I think I have proven my point. Thanks for playing. Please feel free to comment back on how much you hate that fact that I'm studying Physics.
S1CKDRIFT3R 10 months ago
@S1CKDRIFT3R yeah, you are so much smarter than EVERYONE. What are you, Donald Trump's little brother? I bow to your Yooooooooooge brain.

I think there's going to be some very smart people in the future with sites like KhanAcademy and Wikipedia on tap. You can learn a lot about subjects so easily now meaning some people who have an aptitude will be amazing. They'll be the innovators of the future.
