Why is the main character always the blandest character? Ryu = as dull as dishwater. Kyo = archetypal anime protagonist. Jin = stoic dullard. Akira Yuki = ditto. The only exception I can think of is Fatal Fury's Terry, who's actually pretty upbeat and silly; a refreshing change from the usual over-serious tedium.
Samurai Shodown= Haomaru, Mortal Kombat = Liu Kang, X-men = Cyclops, Chrono Trigger = Chrono etc. =/
Guess the phenomenon transcends all cultures, eras, genres and nationalities too. Main chars are always dull, rivals are always cool, and hidden characters are the most fun to use and are also pretty cool.
Did you record this?

Technically, Jin is the lead in half the games only.
Apart from how Kyo is archetypal anime lead, he is also not the lead for quite some time(more like one of the figureheads).
Ryu was the first and basic fighting hero, so it's kinda unfair.

Isn't Ash technically the main character in this arc? :P

He's kinda the protagonist and kinda the antagonist....
I guess his motives will reveal which one he is.
