  • Is it legal to wear your own homemade airsoft mask for the airsoft games? pls reply :)

  • depends on the field, most field I play with the only thing they insist on is eye protection.

  • why would you use hot glue? you can buy fiberglass mat and resin and use that then trim and clean.

  • because fiberglass is very harmful, don't need a respirator or a very well ventilated area to use hot glue.

  • it would be bad-ass if someone made enclave tesla armor from fallout 3 and wore it for an airsoft game.

  • If I had a penney for every frame i'd be poor. JK.

  • oh come on i burn my fingers all the time its not that bad

  • do you have a video wear it shows your custom helmet? I would like to see that.

  • can it take a hit from a 500 fps sniper

  • yes, that doesn't mean I would rip someone a new one for engaging my face with a 500 fps airsoft gun.

  • @infernau thank you

  • You can find the head at hobby lobby

  • where did you get the ''head'' on whuch you made your mask ?

  • Hi I have the same exact manikin head as you(the white styrofoam one), but how did you dimension it to the size of your head. I dont know how to do that. Im trying to make a King Leonidas helmet(from the movie 300) and i need it dimensioned to my head so any help is appreciated. THANKS:)

  • awesome mask dude. i made sumtin like that i'll probably make a vid.

  • Don't you guy hate when a video sucks so much, that when people leave comments it has nothing to do with the mutha' fucking video..... And no this is not one if them. BECAUSE THIS VIDEO ROCKS YOU JUST NEED A LITTLE MORE ENTHUSIASM AND YOUR SHIT IS DOWN PACK!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I made a mask out of hot glue and now its starting to grow mold inside of it, has this happened to you? The mold isnt on the surface, but more and more dark spots are forming in the glue and slowly growing

  • nope, can't say I've had that problem

  • REPTILE

  • Sorry for asking but since the mask is curved won't the glue run from the sides to the center? Hope u get what I'm trying to say thanks.

  • that's why you have to keep "sloshing" it evenly from side to side while it cools.

  • i like a tin of rubber :D

  • thats rilly cool! nice dude

  • what is the finished mask made out of????

  • hot glue (glue sticks)

  • any chance you could make me a skull jaw and mouth guard?

  • like the one I did or another design?

  • @infernau similar to this one would be effing sweet dude but so it can join onto the bottom of a pair of jt proflex lens frames cheers bud

  • how did you get the detail of the teeth back after so many layers of latex?

  • the latex is a negative mold, all the detail is captured under the latex and once I pour in a medium then that medium picks up all the details that is inside the mold.

  • how do u make sure it fits ur head

  • I make sure the clay build up before starting the mask is accurate to my own facial and cranial dimensions.

  • thanks fro answering my other question, one more and i should be ready to start on it, what did you use to add your dimensions to the foam head? because i know the actual mask is clay, hope you understand what im trying to say

  • lol mask mad outa silicon/ some thing that BOOBS r mad of now days XD nice vid

  • the mask itself isn't made out of latex, just the mold.......silly

  • @infernau where did you get the head part?

  • @jaredglasgow3 Fake boobs don't use silicon. That could kill a person if it burst inside the body.

  • what type of glue, i know it's hot glue but when i did it my glue did not flow enough so it was lumpy, also it dosn't harden it stays floppy.

  • how thick did you make it, if it's too thing it'll flop, let your guns run a little longer to get the glue in the chamber nice and hot that should help with the lumping....if you had an oven in your garage I'd say get a 2 cup pyrex dish, throw 5-6 stick in it and melt the whole batch just be careful on how you handle 'cause it'll be super hot....I take no responsibilities in regards to the outcome of your projects....I ain't responsible.

  • I bought it in bulk years ago from ebay, the sticks are 3/8 in dia and about 9 inches long, don't remember the brand.

  • @CannibalBonsai thats what she said XD

  • mother mold?

  • a mother mold is a hard shell mold (made from plaster, plaster bandages or plasti-paste) it's applied just before you're ready to remove the latex jacket mold, it's function is to keep the shape of the jacket mold when it is no longer supported by the clay form underneath, so when you cast the piece it still holds its true shape.

  • does the liquid latex need to be thickened?

    thanks

  • latex doesn't but if you wish to use silicone rubber like smooth on's mold max 30 you'll have to use thickener.

  • one more question, how to do clean your brushes when they become lumpy in two seconds from the latex when your doing your jacket mold? Also is it ok if my jacket mold gets lumpy a couple coats in? Also, should i remove the latex coat before adding the mothermold or keep it on?

  • if you want to get more uses out of your brushes, wash them right away in COLD water (hot water will speed up the process of hardening) the latex should not be clumpy (might be too old or going bad), close the lid after each layer.keep the latex on until you applied and removed the mothermold.

  • amateur question but exactly what clay do you use? (type, brand etc) thanks greatly appreciate it, new to this

  • klean klay (that's the brand not a typo) any non sulfur based clay will work.

  • thanks for answering all my questions so far, do you know were you can find a strong mesh for a mask?

  • steel recycler, scrap steel mesh, should be dirt cheap too.

  • One more question, when making a possible full face mask, would it be better to melt a pot of glue and pour it in or use a hot glue gun?

  • either way works, just depends if you have the area to work with, ie garage when melting a batch in a pot or pyrex container (if you spill it indoors it'll make a hell of a mess!) if it's your first time with such a project I recommend the gun....easier to control until you have the experience.

  • If you wanted to make areas for breathing, how would you do that?

  • you'd have to make spaces in the sculpt for mesh panels and inlay them into the mold during the pour.

  • thats amazing

  • I've seen hot glue masks at cosplay, airsoft events and even paintball games. If you use Hot-Melt it is surprisingly durable and effective! My personal preference is urethane rubber which is a 2 part polymer and the activator can be selected to finished hardness. It's a lot more expensive than hot glue but still fairly cheep all told. And urethane has a learning curve, so you might spend a bit throwing some away.

    Fantastic demo, bro!

  • how did you mold the clay on the head to fit you face exactly?

  • I measured the clay build up prior to adding the clay for the mask several times to the the depth and symmetry right. another way would be to make a exact cast your face with alginate, a far more costly process unless you know a dentist and can get a deal on the product.

  • Thats awsome man

  • where did you get the liquid latex?

  • how do you actually make the mask mold on the head thing?

  • is that reptiles' mask from mortal kombat?

  • no it's my own design

  • Kool mask

  • u should make a cyro mask like sub zero's that would be awesome

  • wen paited teeth should hav blood stains by the gums

  • sorry but what do you use for the end reslult?

  • hot glue my friend

  • @infernau your saying ur final mask is made of just hotglue

  • Great video

  • can you please tell me what material did you use for the final hard model, the one you will use.

  • why would you spend around 35$ for the head, the latex, etc. When you could buy one on ebay for about 15$???

  • it's all about having something unique.

  • @hockeyhound38 and because some people like the process and being creative?

  • do u even hav airsoft wars

  • Do you have to pour the hot glue into the mold or can i brush it in layer by layer? The main reason i would do this is because my mask is full face (not head) and reaches back to my cheek bone. If i brush it in I could keep it an even thickness all around and keep the nostril holes open. Would brushing rather than pouring the hot glue pose any problem? Thanks in advance!

  • why not just get a iron face,, simple just about $10 and save some time

  • u used normal bar silicon or is there any special silicon?

  • you can use mold craft latex (available at art stores) or mold max 30 silicone from smooth on (higher end product and worth every penny.)

  • so im guessing the hot glue doesnt stick to the latex mold at all?

  • Which type of clay did you use and did you spray it with mold release before applying the latex? Thanks!

  • klean klay, no need for mold release.

  • So hot glue can repel BB's without breaking? Or having marks and dents in it?

  • So you get a head, make a clay coat 1/2 inch, and create the mask using more clay, then use latex to actually create a mask? Wow

  • nope the latex is only for the mold, I used hot glue to mask the actual mask.

  • Looks sweet I'll hav to try it and how does it stand up to getting shot

  • stands up just fine.

  • Comment removed

  • wait so the final product the hard mask part was made from hot glue?

  • are you just using molding clay over a foam head? and can u show the finished product in a future video. thank u!

  • this is so awsome im making a mask with the same techinche although my design is a huge mouth sticked together with teeth growing out of the mouth

  • hot glue like from a glue gun?

  • Quick Q. When casting with the hot glue, how did you keep it from moving down the sides and pooling at the bottom of the mask?

  • I actually held the mold ( by the mother mold as to not get burned) and guided the glue to where I wanted it to go by tilting the mold.

  • I went to michaels, the art supply store. I found liquid latex. I found a bunch but I didn't know which one buy. Can you tell me which one to pick?

  • the stuff in this video is called mold craft, yellow label.

  • What is the latex? Where I can buy it?

  • Mold craft, curry's art supply.

  • Awesomness i need to try this

  • thank you so much

  • you're welcome

  • @infernau what's burlap ,the thing of the sacks?

  • yup, you can buy in by the roll at garden centers, it a cheap way to reinforce plaster mother molds.

  • so the first thing is clay and then? latex?

  • yup, after the latex is dry (before you peel it off) plaster and burlap

  • @infernau

and then i'll wait to the plaster and burlap dries and take it off so the plaster i can use it to make more?

could i use only plaster ? without burlap

  • before you apply plaster let the latex dry at least 8 hours (overnight) then you can use just plaster but you'll have to lay it on thicker....what do you mean by "so the plaster i can use it to make more?"

  • @infernau when i finish all the thing and all is dry , i could just put some latex on the burlap to make more masks? to not repeat all the process only let it dry on the burlap

  • here are the steps 1. make clay form 2.paint latex over finished clay form (10-12 coats, dry between coats with hair dryer) allow 8 hours for last layer to dry properly 3. cover latex with plaster +allow to dry at least an hour 4. pull plaster off of latex 5. pull latex off of clay 6. remove all clay bits from latex mold 7. put latex mold into plaster mold 8. pour hot glue into latex mold +allow to dry 9. pull cold hot glue from latex mold trim and paint. repeat steps 8 and 9 for another mask.

  • @infernau could i use only plaster? and the plaster i would use it to make more putting only latex ?

  • Can u please message me a tutorial I can't watch the video

  • why not?

  • ever finish this? Love to see the end result.

  • So do u put the cement in the latex mold?

  • plaster is only used over the latex mold so it (the latex mold) keeps its shape after demolding, hot glue or resin gets put in the latex mold.

  • So do u put the cement in the latex mold?

  • no hot glue goes into the latex mold, not plaster (plaster goes over the latex before you peel it off.)

  • Thank u atleast 1 persin that probly thinks buyin like a 70 dollar mask is pointless if u can do this fo like 12$ good job

  • orr,,,, u can just use a holloween mask

  • where's the fun in that!

  • @infernau true

  • plaster and burlap, sorry for the late reply.

  • Can I pay u to make me one if I give u the design?

  • of course but right now I'm in college and until it's all over (about 2 months time) I can't take any work that will interfere with that.

  • so the hot glue goes into the latex portion once you peel it off? is the final piece mad of hot glue?

  • hot glue is one option, you can also use fiberglass or liquid plastic, all depends on your budget and facilities (fiberglass should be done outside and left outside until completely dried, it stinks!, liquid plastic is more costly but takes less turn around time in making an accurate duplicate, hot glue is the cheapest and easiest to find.)

  • What if I wanted to make a whole face like an Army of TWO mask? Would you need a cover to block the eyeslits?

  • I don't know about a cover but you'll for sure need mesh or something to keep the bb's from entering the eyeslits. That's assuming you're making this for airsoft. I take no responsibilities as to what people make as my tutorial is for the lower portion (covering the nose and mouth, I still you fully sealed goggles when I play, my eyes are far too important.).

  • @infernau Ok well thanks. I'll keep that in mind.

  • I have a question,, i just wanna say, that im new to airsofting and this is gunna save me ALOT of money,, but my question is, to make the mold, would i use clay to kinda shape the structure of the mask i make??

  • yes, clay is the sculpting medium.

  • @infernau how much would one of these go for?

  • depends on the medium I use but right now I can't quote anything, still in College.

  • So basically the latex after glued togeather will be the mask? where do i get that kinda of stuff?

  • the hot glue is the casting media, the latex portion gets peeled off, you can buy bulk glue stick on ebay, the latex can be acquired through a art store.

  • @infernau Thanks dude ill have to try it. Subbed

  • Hello! Could you please let me know how you keep the hot glue on the sides of the jawbone (where it angles downward) from running down and pooling into the teeth? Thank you very much.

  • turn the mold so that the jawline is flat and let it cool that way

  • how did you get the glue to stay even

  • for something small like this I use several glue guns (a larger project would require that I melt a bunch of stick down in a pot for a nice even flow of plastic) all guns are hot and ready to go, I dump one as quick as I can and try to get as much coverage as possible then I dump another and so on, it's easy to control the flow and watch the cure time since it's a hand size mold, it does take a little bit of practice.

  • I did, I have 8 guns for small projects just like this

  • its your brothers skull?

  • what do you use to melt all the hot glue sticks? how many did you use?

  • this is a small project so 3-4 glue sticks can be used rather than using a pot to melt a batch.

  • yo man what is hot glue? did you use anything to release the hotglue from the latex? does the latex melt with the hot glue?? can you make a list of materials? this video is so dope and i havent seen anything else like it but its so incomplete

  • you don't need a release agent, the hot glue doesn't melt the latex.

  • so let me get this straight (i think) when ur dun with the latex u use that hard stuff to go on top of it, when its dry take out the latex and put hot glue inside of the hard thingy on 6:34

  • the hot glue gets poured into the latex mold, the hard thingy is just so the latex mold keeps it's shape and keep you from possibly burning your fingers from the melted glue, hope that helped.

  • Do you make masks for order or just as a hobbie?

  • right now as a hobby, I just don't have the time to spare to make some money at this, I'm in college and can't afford to dump money into materials. Once I'm done though things will be very different so keep watching.

  • when the hot glue dries how flexible and durable will i be?

  • quite durable, pretty flexible but like any plastics over flexing will result in cracking.

  • pretty durable, over flexing will result in cracking over time.

  • dang u should sell these mask, shot i would, or if i had a job i would tolltally pay u for a mask

  • wat is the actual mask made of

  • hot glue

  • @infernau ooooh that makes sense oh and u make some great sculptures man

  • is this your job or just an hobbie

  • as of right now it's just a hobby.

  • Can u do that in more depth wen

U make the molds cause I'm

Confused after the 10 layers of latex??????

  • after 10 or so layers of latex, you let it sit for 8 hours to make 100% that all layers are dry, then you make a plaster mold over the latex (should be dry in 30-40 min) once the plaster is dry you can pull everything apart.

  • Very good work! Art in motion. Would look good weather playin airsoft or in Afghanistan chasing terrorist. Keep up the good work.

  • ur an artist mister

  • Dude it would be the bomb if u could make me one I would of course pay for it email me at pahlanthony@yahoo.com

  • Does the liquid latex really burn your nose and throat if you get real close an sniff it? hehe the one I was using at school did ;P

  • no

  • looks good

  • Looks awesome!

  • Did you classes in moulding or learning what want you doing.
