hi how do i actually play music from my iphone , i have the bluetooth enabled on my phone and cd player and connected but how do i start playing music where do i go on my cd player? what button do i press ? thanks.
I have this unit w/ an iPhone. You mentioned that the Audio on Bluetooth "skips" or "pauses" for a second. Does it still do this? Were you able to fix it? is it always like this for stereo bluetooth?
It really depends with the Phone unit itself, the OS, and what you're doing to the phone. It's not a factor of the head unit. I have a new phone now (the SE X1) and the pausing only happens when I induce it. ie. closing the sliding keyboard, or try and multi-task. I used to get random pausing with the white phone shown in the video- and also whenever I close the slider. I get no random pauses now with the new phone, just expected ones.
@bdaniel5 hi how do i actually play music from my iphone , i have the bluetooth enabled on my phone and cd player and connected but how do i start playing music where do i go on my cd player? what button do i press ? thanks.
it's near CD. The quality will depend a lot on the mp3s you play. Definitely want to use v0 vbr or 320cbr mp3s. Even then it won't be as good as CD - though close.
The question then will be can you tell the difference? Can you give up slight quality for ultra convenience?

The mic came with the headunit. It was designed for making BT calls, and streaming music. The headunit can store an address book (which you can sync with bt), so you can dial your contacts from the head unit. With all these features, it would suck if Pioneer said, "find your own mic." :P
lol... thnx for your answer.. I didnt mean that.. I have a receiver with BT technology but the mic is in the head unit.. Thats why I asked yoy about that external mic..
you need to pair the head unit and phone once first. (Like with all bluetooth devices) Then each time you turn the car on it will automatically search for your phone to connect to (if you have auto-connect option turned on). it acts like a headset when connected.
You can also send all your contacts into the radio to hold. You could have the phone in your pocket and call out using the head unit.
What settings do you have BT AUDIO on? Do you have it on auto connect? I have a samsung eternity and I got it to stream mp3 before. Now it won't play anymore. I can still connect and the phone feature works.
mine's on auto connect. I can't help you with your issue sorry. But try repairing the devices, and try hitting play from your phone, and again with the headunit. Try "angles" to play. It could be that the phone has some poorly implemented bluetooth stack issue and only lets you in a certain way.
I don't have any wiring going into the glove box. I had an XM Satellite receiver mounted under the passenger seat with the wiring going under the factory carpeting, but I have unsubscribed years ago in favor of just listening to my mp3s.
a2dp stereo bluetooth. It's being streamed wirelessly from my sonyericsson walkman phone directly to the headunit. No wires needed.
The phone cradle is just there to make it easier for me to view, access, and charge while driving. My passengers can take it and browse through songs if they want.
@ slowshdriver : where did you connect your microphone that you have attached on your stearing wheel.. is that the pioneer radio itself or to the carkit of you phone..
i would be really thankfull if you could answer me. thnx
the microphone comes with a visor clip that I used on the crevice of the steering column. The microphone wire (very long btw for mounting almost anywhere) goes inside the dash and back into the pioneer unit.
The mic is supplied with the head unit. The phone cradle is not apart of the pioneer unit.
i still cant figure it out.. cuz i want to connect my phone (nokia n95) to my pioneer through aux.. but the only thing i managed to do is connecting a aux-aux cable to the phone and to the unit.. but the thing is when i am on the phone with somebody i am using the phone's microphone.. so could you like send me a picture of what kind of microphone you use?..
i forgot, it's really a one time setup. Check the manual. As for the phone, you need to make it discoverable or make the head unit discoverable. Have either unit do a search and pair and you're done. My phone is a SonyEricsson w850i.
How's the sound quality compared to radio, cd, or ipod through your car stereo? Also, how are your calls? Any trouble hearing people or your callers have trouble hearing you? I'm thinking about getting one of these & it would save me some trouble to learn from your experience. Thanks!
I'm thinking about going A2DP and forgetting about iPods entirely. But it doesn't stream song title or artist info, right? They should come up with a bluetooth profile that transmits text.

I felt the factory speakers were fine in my car. I didn't want to weigh it down more since I do performance driving on a road course as a hobby.

Sound quality is fine for me, but it should go in this order CD > direct input mp3 (usb/aux/ipod) > stereo bluetooth > xm or sirius > radio

if the iphone's bluetooth 2.0 supports a2dp and avrcp then it should work just fine.
What I did was bring my phone into a retail store that had the head unit on display for demo, and tried it out on the spot before buying it.
